Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

TWO ponies need riders in Middle TN

I have 2 large ponies, and do not have time to work them consistently in addition to my mare, so I’m looking for someone who would like a great opportunity! One of the ponies could go off the farm (under certain conditions); the other has to be ridden at my place (doesn’t matter which).

MAGGIE is a 6 year old Haflinger. She is 13.2hh tall but very solid and hefty. Maggie was just professionally started under saddle and while still green, she has a basically mellow personality. Still, you need to have had some experience with green horses.

RHYS is a 5 year old bay Connemara/Arab cross gelding. He is 14.1hh tall and more finely built than Maggie. He has been started under saddle but was ridden by a child as a greenie, and hence, needs a good bit of training. He has the potential to be a very fancy eventer or dressage pony with the right rider. He is currently at the trainer’s but will be back in December.

I do mostly dressage, and would prefer either a dressage rider or someone interested in eventing or hunters. A former Pony Clubber or current older PCer would be great! You must be 18 years old to ride on my property.

I am located W. of Spring Hill, about 45 minutes S. of Nashville.

Horseless Rider in Auburn, AL

Hey all, I’m a 21 year old college student at AU. Ideally, I’d love to find a free riding opportunity 2-4 days a week with abilities to take lessons & go to events that I would pay for (if time permits, student wise). I’d be happy to do a work-for-ride situation.

I have evented through Novice and schooled through Prelim. I’ve also exercised polo horses, worked with green OTTBs, and played on the local H/J circuit. I have obtained my C2 in pony club.

If you’d like more information, please don’t hesitate e-mail or PM me. References are available. Thank you so much!

Horseless rider - VA

Hello. I’m looking to lease a horse in Northern VA. Horse must be suitable for a timid rider, go English & western, and a confidence builder.

Willing to help around the barn for a cheaper rate. Thanks.

Looking for a dressage rider in the Sacramento area to lease Ellexus Knight, a beautiful 6 year old Arab/Friesian mare. She was Reserve Champion at Second Level at both the 2010 National Arabian & Half Arabian Sporthorse Championships (missed Champion by less than 1/2 point) and at the 2010 Region III AHA Sporthorse Championships. She is extremely talented, and has started a little piaffe and passage work (amazing talent for it). She has begun schooling flying changes and has started some very basic canter pirouette work (1/4 pirouettes).

Ellie is extremely kind, but can be sensitive and sometimes a little skittish and for this reason needs an experienced and confident rider. While the owner has recently taken her home she would be boarded and continue her training at my private facility in Shingle Springs CA. I currently train with Michael Etherly, but have also worked extensively in the past with Lilo Fore, Todd Fletterich and Sandy Osborne.

This is a chance for a serious young rider or amateur to ride and show a very competitive horse. Scores for this beautiful girl have been in the high 60s/low 70s. One judge even said she could get 9s once she gets stronger and has more suspension.

Fancy 6 yr old pony to do A/AA with some lucky kid NOVA

Horseless Rider- San Diego, CA

I’m an amateur that just finished my Master’s degree and am looking to get back into riding seriously again. I have experience riding for several different H/J trainers in a working student type situation. I’m comfortable on lots of different types of horses, but would prefer to stay away from the VERY green until I get back into shape again.

Have shown up to 3’6" jumpers and hunters, plus lots of eq when I was younger.

Let me know if you need a rider!

40-something horseless rider in Northern Virginia available to ride riderless horse/s week days, between 9 am and 2 pm (no week ends). Willing to drive up to 30 to 45 minutes beyond Fairfax county (I live near Dulles airport). 25 years of English riding experience in a combination of semi-private/group lessons, leases, rode on college team. (Started out HJ, but now I have the Eventing bug, and someday want to do lower-level Eventing, when I have a horse some day.) Can ride as little as once a week, or two to three times per week. Been riding on and off at a friend’s barn in the past 3 years, but little to no jumping at the place (very small ring, and very old horses with limitations), so jumping skills are rusty (still there and my basics are good, but rusty). Don’t mind flat work, but miss good gymnastics and small courses. Still, would be happy to do just flat work to get some saddle time. Wouldn’t mind occasional trails, but not interested in exclusive trail riding. Comfortable with somewhat green horses, but considering my limited riding time recently, would probably be more sensible to ride something less green, until I get more saddle time. Not an anxious rider, but stay home parent of young kids, so tend to avoid anything too whacky or unpredictable. Non-smoking, not a criminal, sane, drama-free, have own transport, reliable. Thanks…

Fun, Fancy Hunter Available NOVA

16.2 grey Trak/TB 8 year old gelding available for on-farm partial lease, terms negotiable depending on number of days/week. Has shown Hunters and Jumpers, enjoys both equally but is going to start showing the 3’ Adult Amateur hunters with owner in December. Horse is stabled at fantastic facility off Route 50 in Middleburg, VA with an indoor, 2 outdoors and on-site VHSA horse shows.

Horse is super-sweet with a puppy dog personality, great ground manners and is well-broke, hack winner with a willing attitude.

Owner works full-time in downtown DC and needs someone who can help her maintain a consistent workout schedule for him. I am interested in finding a good match for him, even if that is a person who only wants to ride a few days a week and not do a full “half lease” - as I said, I am flexible for the right match. Right now, a novice rider friend of mine has been riding him the days I can’t, and they get along GREAT - problem is, she already owns another horse! So, here’s a great opportunity for a rider who wants to work with a really nice horse and my trainer, or not, and to possibly show, or not. I’m flexible!

Feel free to PM me for more details or a photo. This is my heart horse, and he really is a special boy.

15.1hh Pretty pinto curly mare Interm. to exp riders only SE PA

15.1hh very pretty black and white pinto curly mare 9 YO, started under saddle this year after being our best broodie!

Intermediate to experienced rider only. She still has the occasional buck  but generally a laid back mare. Is presently on a lease, has been since last Feb. and they use her for arena and trail riding.

Her lease is up next month and I am interested in keeping her in work.

So. Indiana, 20 mi. No. of Lou. - looking for riding buddy

I have a coming 3yo I want to start ponying on the trails before she started her under saddle training. Even bought a VERY nice paint to do this off of a few years ago - think CADILLAC with “power steering” - means neck reins, and is a very handsome fellow indeed. I also have a really cool little Oldenburg mare I ride for pleasure - when I have time.

For safety reasons, would love to have someone ride with me while taking these guys out. I live only minutes from Clark County Forestry, where I want to start on the “bunny” trails. It would be your choice on which one to ride while doing this - either the western tacked paint or the english tacked mare.

TIA!

Alpharetta, Georgia

Hi! My friend is a middle aged horseless rider living in Alpharetta, GA. She is a very good intermediate level english rider with a nice dressage foundation. She is petite and could ride a pony or horse. A situation where a horse needs some extra love and attention a few times a week would be perfect for her and hopefully the horse. She is gentle and kind and my horses love her. Unfortunately, I live too far away now for her to ride my horses regularly. She is used to my experienced horses who are light in the mouth and extremely responsive but not naughty or spooky. The horse would not need to be perfectly trained as she is a confident, good rider; however, she does not possess the skill set necessary to retrain or ride extremely naughty or spooky horses. She is not interested in jumping and loves grooming and grazing horses almost as much as riding. I am sure she would be willing to help with some horse care on days when she came out if that was needed. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. She may also possibily be interested in a partial care lease if the terms were favorable. Thank you for the consideration.

Ciscolark-PM me we may have a horse she might like!

Horseless Rider in SW Florida

Hello all,
I recently relocated to Punta Gorda (about 30 mins north of Ft. Myers) from Gainesville, and I’m desperately missing saddle time and general equine contact. I have excellent references and experience in dressage, eventing, and h/j. Happy to ride nervous, sensitive, or green horses–just nothing outright crazy please! Will flat, jump, help with training, etc. I can travel about 30 minutes one way, provided there are lights to ride by–I work 8-5 but would love to be riding in the evenings and/or the weekends. PM me if you’d like more info or references. Thanks!

Horseless Rider in Charlottesville, VA area

Although I’m not completely “horseless,” I have a 3-year-old mare who lives 3 hours away and lack the funds to start her professionally (she’s also still hitting some major growth spurts). Basically I’ve been out of the saddle for several months but would love to find an opportunity to start riding again. Although I work full-time, regular lessons or leases just aren’t financial possibilities right now.

I’ve mainly ridden hunters but have a solid dressage foundation. Since I’ve lost some riding muscle, I would prefer a horse with at least the solid basics and not very spooky/flighty. I have years of experience with the “quiet” greenies and have ridden plenty of different personalities.

I’m relatively new to the area and would love someone with an extra horse looking for a riding buddy. Or just someone with a straightforward project who could use a few extra rides each week. I’m also willing to help out with barn work. Thanks!

ETA - I love the large ponies too - I’m 5’8" but light.
