That is interesting.
Riderless horses – Boyds, MD
Therapeutic riding horses need more work! We are situated on land with lots of trail access, open fields, indoor & outdoor arenas. Most horses need mainly flatwork and hacking for conditioning; a couple may be able to do some low jumping. These are all working therapy horses, so none are terribly silly.
15yo Belgian gelding. Needs handler that is not afraid of his size, or he gets pushy. Canter is a work in progress.
18yo Welsh/QH gelding. Pony Club background, mostly walk/trot work. Canter dependent on soundness.
16yo TB gelding. Purpose-bred eventer, very quiet. Sound for low jumping when in better shape.
17yo TB gelding. Did the big jumpers, limited to flatwork only now. Confident rider with good hands a must.
25yo Welsh/Arab gelding. Pony Club background, just wants to get out of the ring for some light hacking (walk/trot only).
26yo Arabian gelding. Needs a refresher course in basic flatwork, but is 100% sound. Possibility of some low jumping when flatwork improves.
14yo QH/App gelding. Can be ridden western or English, but needs some serious flatwork either way.
Horseless Rider in Columbia, SC
Have done a bit of everything, ridden for more than 20 years, everything but western. Would consider driving within 45 min radius. Busy job so can only ride afternoons/weekends, not enough time for my own horse and not enough money for my own. Can’t afford lessons right now, but am interested in riding still. Will ride just about anything as long as it’s not flat mean. Have owned my own and transitioned from the track before, just caught the poors and the busys, so can’t do it myself right now!
Horse-less rider in Philadelphia PA
I’ve been searching this area for the right horse for months.
I have tons of free time, and have competed in a bit of everything…eventing, hunter, endurance, foxhunting, dressage…
I am looking to ride something that is broke at least w/t, with no extreme dangerous habits. I really love working with green horses from the beginning, so if anyone has any greenies laying around I could put them in work as well
I’m willing to drive about 45 minutes out of the city, and would LOVE to find an instructor to work with. I love trail riding, and I’ve been competing all year the competitive trail riding and endurance. I’m open to any and all ideas right now, leases, school horses, anything to get some riding time in!
I would also like to be able to compete at some point in the future. I really do hope someone has some ideas for me!
Riderless Horses in Loxahatchee/Wellington Fl
I would love to find an experienced rider who would enjoy working one to three dressage trained warmbloods at my place. Nice horses, quiet environment. More details on individual horses on request.
Horseless in Rockville, MD
I will be home for one month (December 18-January 23) on winter break and desperately need a horse to ride to stay in shape. I ride for my schools equestrian team and hack anything from ponies as small as 13.2 to young OTTBs my barn manager rescues that need retraining. If anyone has any greenies they want worked with or horses they need help riding during the weeks, I will basically be available 24/7 during this time to ride and would love to help out!
Several Riderless Horses near Athens, GA
20 mins North of the UGA campus in Athens, GA. I have several horses of varying size, breed, and skill that need more time & attention. I’m looking ideally for an Intermediate rider or above, preferably someone with some dressage experience. (Ultimate fantasy would be someone working at at least 2nd level!)
Among the horses available:
-
Tried and true, bombproof, steady eddie, beginner safe, amazing 15.3hh ,18 years young TB gelding. Unraced, great brain. Is a retired Eventer turned Hunter/Jumper, turned Dressage horse. Best. Horse. Ever. He’s not fancy, movement is not great, etc. But boy, he is just so willing, and LOVES his lateral movement. Trainer’s favorite.
-
13 year old, 16.1hh OTTB gelding. GORGEOUS WB like movement, flashy horse. Very sensitive, needs Intermediate level rider at least, as you MUST know where your seat bones are, and how NOT to push with them. He really is fabulous though, and loves to jump! Best ground manners of any horse I’ve ever met. Would make a great Eventing project for someone to play with.
-
7 year old, 17.1hh DWB/TB mare. HUGE mare, and she knows it. Very strong, needs a rider who is not intimidated by her size, and is capable of making sure this mare does not lean on your hand. She is GORGEOUS, and has training to 1st level.
-
3 year old 15.3hh DWB/Lippizan (yes, I just said Lippizan) He is CUTE,CUTE,CUTE! Just started undersaddle, so is very green, but he is SO good! Very calm, no shennanigans so far, and would love another rider to play with.
-
8 year old Hanoverian/Holsteiner mare. 16.2 or so, Black, and just beautiful. Has been started undersaddle, but used mostly as a broodmare. Would make a spectacular project for someone who is interested.
…and 6) Not for riding of course, but I have a very handsome 8 month old Hanoverian colt who would LOVE to have some people play with him on the ground, and help him get over some of his shyness. He is a very big baby, and is our stallion prospect, so the more people to play with him and socialize him the better.
I have a very busy work schedule, and all of these horses could use the exercise, and human companionship. Like I said, ideally would like to find some good riders, who want to play with some nice horses. I have a 6 stall barn with hot/cold water, and a professionally graded/footed M-10 Dressage arena, around 66’x198’. It’s not fenced in, so please be able to steer.
Please PM me for details, and with any questions. Thanks!
Horseless Rider: Dallas/Ft Worth area, TX
Moving to TX and I have nothing to ride! My event mare is currently out for who knows how long with an injury, so ideally I’d like to find something to free lease and keep on property - eventing/dressage/trail/fun! Lots of references available, just ask! PM me for more info!
Horse in Pacifica CA needs rider
Actually he is quite happy hanging out but I wouldn’t mind a partial sponsor.
I have started a full time job and just don’t have any time to ride right now.
About him:
14 year old 16.1 h dbbr Thoroughbred gelding. I have had him since I took him off the track at 5. He was lightly raced.
He is a good guy. I mostly trail ride as the barn has access to a lot of open space. There are often folks to ride with.
I rode with Charles de Kunnfy for years with him so he is fairly well schooled and the barn has a dressage arena as well as a big arena with all weather footing. There is no indoor. Some folks jump and there are some jumps around. I have schooled him cross country and in stadium but don’t jump much unless there is something just too inviting set up to not jump.
There are trainers that come to the barn and you could take lessons if you wanted.
He is turned out in a close by pasture with some geldings during the day and in a stall at night. The tackroom is right in the barn.
He needs a rider that won’t get in his face. I trail ride him on a loose rein.
Contact me at Lizathenag@aol.com if interested.
You could ride on the weekends if you wanted to as well as during the week.
Horseless Dressage Rider in MD!
Hello,
I have a mare who is sidelined for the year due to founder. I live in Montgomery County, MD and would love to have a horse to ride for the next year or so even if only once a week. I just had a baby myself so have been out of the saddle for a year but prior to having the baby, I rode six days a week and competed at recognized shows and qualified for the regionals championships over the last few years with a few different horses. I can give references and while I can’t pay for a lease, I’d be glad to cover the cost of some dressage lessons to make sure that the horse’s training is correct and consistent while I’m riding. I’d also love to compete but that’s less important than having a horse to dote on again while my mare heals and becomes a mommy!
Thanks for your consideration!

2 riderless horses in Maryland
I have 1 horse and 1 pony that could use some exercise in Burtonsville, MD (in between silver spring and columbia).
- 14yr old 16.1 hand TB gelding. Was used as a lesson horse, but has had a few months off. Can be a little fresh sometimes, so not a beginners horse.
- 5yr old 13.2 pony. She is very green, but sweet.
Opportunity to take lessons or show either of these guys.
PM me if interested.
Horseless returning rider in Emmaus Pa
I have a friend who has not ridden in many years and now that her children are old enough she would like to get back into it. She would like a horse that would help bring her back with lessons if available.
So a good guy would be nice for her. I am sure she would be willing to pay some but she hasn’t ridden in a long time…
Dallas, TX
Horseless rider in Dallas, TX. Just moved here, and looking to lease, or just ride, something quiet. Extensive experience in level 3-4 jumpers, equitation, and children’s hunters long before that, but would be happy just to walk around in circles on a horse.
Buglet, sent you a PM

Hoping you were just a little closer to me but sadly you’re about an hour! We have a lovely farm just north of Gouldsboro, PA off 380 that houses 25 horses. 1 of which is a trusty lesson horse who I think would suit your friend perfectly. She’s a 16y/o 15.3hand Draft/TB cross who has evented and now teaches beginners how to ride. She’s comfy as a couch, extremely dependable, and just very simple to ride. We offer lessons on her as well as several other lesson horses. Again, sadly you’re probably too far away.

Do you have an indoor? I know that is a must if she is to travel that far/ She might do it if the match is right. She is pretty tall but a draftx might take up enough leg…Do you have a website?

Horseless in ME
Dressage rider looking for a horse to ride, temporarily or long term.
Midcoast area.
Lease would be great. Horse would receive exceptional care. Too many college loans to buy my heart horse right now.
Horseless Rider - Northern VA
I’m an timid advanced beginner rider looking to either half lease or come out and ride your horse(s) who are not green and safe. Can travel up to 30 minutes, English or western.
I have an assortment of horses you could ride on my farm just south of Lexington, Va., either in my ring or on the trails (I live on a Rockbridge Hunt fixture, so lots of beautiful trails). I’m just looking to keep them fit, but if you wanted to do more, that would be okay too.
