Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

Rider(s) wanted - NoVA ~ Manassas area

Two friendly geldings looking for more time undersaddle! One is a 13yo Haflinger, willing to please but sensative so requires an intermediate rider with some confidence as he rebuilds his! He was gelded and started U/S later in life, and then by unfortunate circumstances his owner was unable to ride so he sat without a job. Don’t let that scare you! Has been restarted and is going very well w/t/c, goes in a snaffle. Trailers well, does best English but has also competed (and placed) in western games. Participated in the 2009 Fredericksburg Urban Trail Ride, did great with the large number of strange horses and the city sights and sounds. Great guy for someone who wants to just ride for fun or show.

The other is a 9yo Haflinger TWH X, bay, roughly 14.2hh but stocky and takes up a lot of leg. He is actually the son of the Haflinger we have here and was purchased originally to be a companion only. Smart, learns new things quickly, and has tons of personality. Was started Sept 2009 and participated alongside his father in the 2009 Fredericksburg Urban Trail Ride that November. Nothing bothered him, not even when he had a tack malfunction and his bridle fell off. Going well w/t, has cantered and shown interest in jumping. Very comfortable ride. Because he’s still ‘green’, and he is very smart he requires a confident advanced intermediate or above. He’s not naughty, just still learning and needs more miles. Was taken to the Belmont Horse Show this summer, his first time off farm on his own, behaved very well. Trailers well, goes in a snaffle.

These boys enjoy work, but do not enjoy having to share my time with the other horses I’m responsible for. With their work ethic they deserve to have their own persons to give them more individual attention. Any additional help around the barn that can be offered is also very appreciated! We have a round pen, arena, a few home made jumps in the arena and our larger pasture, trails within ride out and trailering to local parks/shows is also available.

Message me here or email me at NoWinged_Angel@yahoo.com look forward to hearing from you!

Riderless Horse in Black Forest, CO area

I am still looking for someone who would enjoy riding my older gelding. He is small (14.2) but takes up a lot of leg as he is pretty wide. Has been trained for a lot of different things and is still happy to learn. He is calm and reliable; has been used in therapy and lesson programs, and has been a great show horse for everything from breed and 4-H to open Jumpers and some Dressage. He is completely sound and healthy, and would love to show. I try to ride him as often as I can to keep him in shape, but struggle to do so with my other horse in training so I would love to share him. Please PM me if you are interested.

Riderless Horses in Pensacola, Florida

I had back surgery and have not been riding my horses.

I am looking for someone that is experienced as they are what would be called green broke. None have been ‘stupid’ as they are stock types. They just need a lot of wet saddle blankets!

They all have had pro trainer time, just nothing since then.
Being unemployed I cannot pay someone

If you are in the area and interested, contact me and we can arrange a meet-n-greet to see if you want to continue. I just ask that you have more experience than ‘pony’ rides at the fair!

Riderless ponies in Middle TN

Still looking for riders for 2 lovely ponies.

Maggie is a 13.2hh Haflinger mare, age 6. She is green but kind and willing.

Rhys is a 14.1hh Connemara/Arab gelding, age 5. He is also green and has some re-learning to do, but has been w/ a pro trainer for the past 2 months. He would be an awesome eventer or little dressage horse w/ the right rider.

Both ponies have done a lot of trail riding with an experienced endurance rider as well.

Contact me if you’re interested! Either can be care-leased off my property (you assume expenses) OR ridden on my property (no fees or expenses).

Riderless Horse in Monroe, NC

2004 16h APHA/TB gelding. Chestnut with four tall white socks, blaze, and belly spot. Shown in one hunter/jumper show last year in the baby green hunters (2’6") and did well. Has schooled cross country very successfully. Jumped up to 3’3" in gymnastics. With a little more dressage work he would make a very nice eventer. Trail rides alone or with other horses. Needs experienced rider.

I just don’t have time to ride and show two horses.

Horseless rider in Cleveland, OH

I am a horseless law student in Cleveland that would love a horse to ride (and spoil  ) a day, or two, or a few a week.

I have ridden through the high adult jumpers from local As to WEF and showed through intermediate in IHSA in Zone 2.

Willing to take on hunter, jumper, eq, retiree, rehab or greenie.

My scheduled is flexible both on times and frequency, since I am in school and I find myself wanting to ride a bit to relax. I live downtown, go to school at Case Western and have a car. I am willing to travel up to about 45 minutes each way.

I’m happy to provide more information or contact to trainers for references.

Horseless Rider- Richmond, Va or NoVa

Former professional looking for a hunter type horse to ride a few days/week. I am currently getting tuned up in lesson program once/week with goal of 3’ AAs at the better locals.
Need more time in the saddle…could possibly lead to partial lease.
Not looking for greenies. Would rather have something that you cannot ride enough but is already trained to do the hunters.
Very good rider. Love flat work. Flexible schedule

Horseless Rider - Orlando, FL area

I recently moved to the Orlando, FL area and I am looking for a horse(s) to ride. I have experience through Training level eventing however lack of own horse has not allowed advancement or competition past this level. For the past 4 years I have ridden as part or along with my horse jobs and have not been able to compete. I have ridden/help train a variety of horses from green broke; 3 and 4 year olds, to advanced level event horses, foxhunters and a few show hunters.

I have just left a groom/barn manager position and will be working out of the horse industry so I am looking to find a horse to ride to keep me in the saddle! Not looking for something to compete with and not picky about discipline or type of horse. Please email chrissymcbride@aol.com, riding reference is available!

Riderless Horse - Hampton Roads, VA

I know this is a long shot… but I’ll try anyway.

I have a wonderful 2003 bloody bay Selle Francais mare, 15.2 but big step and fills out your leg really well. She had a minor suspensory strain in June that we’ve been rehabbing really well up until a few weeks ago due to NO FAULT of her own. I’ve taken additional responsibilities at work and my barn time is diminishing rapidly  I would love to find someone who enjoys a sensitive horse but doesn’t mind starting out slow. At this point she is walking 20 minutes and had worked up to about 10 minutes of trot, then a nice relaxed walking “cool out”. She does need an experienced rider as she’s a bit on the spicy side but is never naughty. If you’re available to ride two-three days a week (or more) this would be perfect! We are at a beautiful farm with great footing and a super friendly atmosphere. Barn is show hunters but I’ve trained this mare based on my mixed event/dressage/hunters background. Rider would be able to continue her rehab and beyond, potentially showing her if interested. She was doing 2’6 consistently with great changes and ready to move up to 3’ before the injury. Vet is very confident that she will be well able to return to 3’ jumping.

Jumping 1
Jumping 2 This is May 2010, about two weeks before the injury. (Rider error coming into the line)
Trotting
Glamour Shot
Snow!
Side Saddle This was only her second time with it on, Nov 2010

Horseless Rider in Westchester/Dutchess County, NY

Hello all,
I recently relocated to Westchester, NY and work in Dutchess County. I’m desperately missing barn and saddle time. I have excellent references and experience in dressage, eventing, and h/j. I am comfortable riding nervous, sensitive, or green horses–prefer nothing that is outright crazy please! Will flat, jump, help with training, etc.

I would prefer to travel south of Poughkeepsie, NY and would love to ride evenings during the week. PM me if you’d like more info or references. Thanks!

Near Athens, GA

Re-posting this, as I broke my right hand, and could use some help with the horses and around the barn! If anyone is interested in riding, or even just coming out and spending time with the horses, grooming, etc. Let me know! They need the attention.

Open to a free lease situation as well, on or off farm.

Here is the original post:

20 mins North of the UGA campus in Athens, GA. I have several horses of varying size, breed, and skill that need more time & attention. I’m looking ideally for an Intermediate rider or above, preferably someone with some dressage experience. (Ultimate fantasy would be someone working at at least 2nd level!)

Among the horses available:

  1. Tried and true, bombproof, steady eddie, beginner safe, amazing 15.3hh ,18 years young TB gelding. Unraced, great brain. Is a retired Eventer turned Hunter/Jumper, turned Dressage horse. Best. Horse. Ever. He’s not fancy, movement is not great, etc. But boy, he is just so willing, and LOVES his lateral movement. Trainer’s favorite.

  2. 13 year old, 16.1hh OTTB gelding. GORGEOUS WB like movement, flashy horse. Very sensitive, needs Intermediate level rider at least, as you MUST know where your seat bones are, and how NOT to push with them. He really is fabulous though, and loves to jump! Best ground manners of any horse I’ve ever met. Would make a great Eventing project for someone to play with.

  3. 7 year old, 17.1hh DWB/TB mare. HUGE mare, and she knows it. Very strong, needs a rider who is not intimidated by her size, and is capable of making sure this mare does not lean on your hand. She is GORGEOUS, and has training to 1st level.

  4. 8 year old Hanoverian/Holsteiner mare. 16.2 or so, Black, and just beautiful. Has been started undersaddle, but used mostly as a broodmare. Would make a spectacular project for someone who is interested.

…and 5) Not for riding of course, but I have a very handsome 9 month old Hanoverian colt who would LOVE to have some people play with him on the ground, and help him get over some of his shyness. He is a very big baby, and is our stallion prospect, so the more people to play with him and socialize him the better.

I have a very busy work schedule, and all of these horses could use the exercise, and human companionship. Like I said, ideally would like to find some good riders, who want to play with some nice horses. I have a 6 stall barn with hot/cold water, and a professionally graded/footed M-10 Dressage arena, around 66’x198’. It’s not fenced in, so please be able to steer.

Please PM me for details, and with any questions. Thanks!

Eastern NC, 45 minutes from Raleigh/30 min from Greenville, rider wanted

I am always looking for good riders! Lots of opportunities for a good rider that can handle a variety of horses/levels of training (but nothing mean or dangerous). Opportunities to show, paid for, locally and “C” rated. Great opportunity for a college student without the funds to be able to keep up with riding! We are not far from ECU (Greenville, NC) and 45 minutes from Raleigh, NC. Would want a commitment of at least 1 - 2 days per week, more available if wanted! Sort of a working student position, altho no stall cleaning etc involved, possibly some feeding here and there but would pay for that.

OCALA: H-J rider or eventer sought (show only or train, too).

I have a super-duper fun, 14.1h, four-year-old ready to do something! He’s solidly backed, easy flying changes, brave and dead quiet…and he is NOT FOR SALE. My partner on him is trying to decide if she is going to buy me out, but won’t be coming down to meet him and decide until mid February (and wouldn’t be shipping him home until May or so). He has someone to hack him at home (a 60+ lady who is barely an intermediate rider–that’s how sweet this little boy is!), but really needs to get out and do stuff in the show ring (besides the long-stirrup flatwork the old lady would show him in). ME, I’d like to see him learn to gallop a bit and take natural jumps simply because it is, IMO, part of a good foundation on any horse or pony.

I also will have an equally sweet, 15.2h three-year-old who, once we’ve finished backing him, should go out and hack and maybe do some light showing under saddle just to see and be seen.

Other opportunities possible. I would pay all showing fees (plus, if the ride is particularly professional). I am especially eager to take something to an event or two in Georgia, simply because I have never seen those courses and really want to, and so would gladly support that excursion for a rider, too, even if the beastie only did BN or Elementary (if available).
