Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

Horseless Rider in Orange County, NY

I recently moved to this area and am looking around for opportunities to stay in the saddle as much as possible! I will sit on almost anything and will keep your horse or pony going, or get it started going. I have a lot of catchriding and schooling experience including everything from medium and large pony finals ponies, green OTTBs, jumpers, hunters, eq prospects… Forward or push-rides - I enjoy sitting on just about anything (retirees, medal horses, green beans, backyard projects, etc). I am very solid on the flat with a dressage and hunter equitation foundation. I can jump around, I can work on specific issues for you, I can show for you and I have a solid show record to prove it. I have quiet hands and I am very light, but strong. I’ll clean your tack, clean your horse, and follow any specific care instructions to a T. I am willing to travel a ways from here; please don’t hesistate to contact me.

Bullero–Austin, Texas

Bullero is an 11yo TB, never raced but clearly trained to do so. I’ve been reschooling him for polo and we go out on trails fairly often. Unfortunately for him, I work offshore in the oil fields, and while I’m on a ship, he stands around with nothing to do.

He is generally sweet-natured and willing to please, not for a beginner as he can be a bit spooky. He neck reins, moves off the leg, etc, so will be fine for both english and western riders. He genuinely likes people, and I’ve seen him go from grazing, see somebody he knows/likes, and walk up to them just to say hello before going back to grazing.

If you live in Austin, Pflugerville, or Manor, and just want to have a horse to kick back and enjoy a trail ride, let me know. University students welcome.

Horseless Dressage Rider in Arlington, VA

Hi Everyone!

I just moved to Crystal City for work from Florida about two months ago and am finding myself really missing riding! I have a mare back home, but am waiting until I get settled and then will bring her up in the Spring. Ideally if anyone has a horse who needs some basic flat work or dressage (I’ve ridden to 3rd Level), I would love to help out a few times a week. I’m 5’8" so no ponies unfortunately, but I am slim and have a video of me riding if you’d like to check that out before letting me on your horse. I’m a soft, but effective rider and have been riding for 20 years. I find it is my zen, so if anyone can point me in the direction of a horse who needs some exercising, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Riderless horse in Sacramento, CA

Location: Sacramento, California

I’m looking for someone to half lease my dressage horse to share expenses and because I’m too busy with work to be able to work him as often as he needs. He is located at Panoshe Ranch on Exelsior near Calvine. He’s an Arabian, about 14.3hh but very stocky and feels bigger than he is.

Solo is a very good boy, but he is a stallion and not a beginner horse. That said, I’m definitely an amateur and have a great time and feel safe on him. He knows most of the dressage movements through third level, although he’s done very little for the past few years so right now it’s more about getting him back in shape and working through his back again. He’s an agreeable boy with a good work ethic and very easy to handle. He has a good, correct foundation in dressage basics.

You can learn more about him and see pictures on his website at www.capthansolo.com. email me at twnkltoz@gmail.com.

Wish you were closer with Solo! Not only do I love the name (huge Star Wars fan here), but I’m still looking for a horse to ride in the San Jose area.

I am posting this for a friend of mine who is looking for a bombproof horse to ride. Low-level dressage, gaited, rides mostly western now. She would love to exercise a quiet horse or large pony (something between about 13.2 and 15h), do arena work, walk trot, just to give both of them some exercise. Also loves grooming and hand-grazing! Please reply here or PM me.[/QUOTE]

I have a 16.2h SSH mare who needs exercise. Just south of Montevallo. No smokers, no drama, must have sense  and wear a helmet.

Horseless Rider north of Jacksonville, FL

I am dispatched from beautiful Middleburg, VA to the horse-sparse area north of Jacksonville, FL. I know this is a long shot but if there is anyone looking for a smaller (able to ride ponies!) but experienced rider ( extensive jumper and lower level dressage training, inlcuding young horses). I am available and looking for saddle time  I am out on Amelia Island if anyone can locate that on map…lol Available through the spring. Thanks!!

Riderless Horse- Riverside California

I have a 14.3 paint pony/sm horse mare that is not being ridden. She’s available for on-farm free lease. She goes western or english, is sound and shod. Been to a couple shows but a bit rusty under saddle again. She is my son’s but he’s not really interested in riding. Great on the trails- crosses the river fine although it’s been a while so she’ll need a refresher.

She had professional training in english and we had her doing simple lead changes and going over cross rails but that was a 2008/2009, just trail ridden on and off since then. She’s a really nice little mare that needs a job.

We are located right off the trails- Hidden Valley Wildlife/ Santa Ana River. You just hop on and go out the side gate and you are riding on miles of beautiful horse trails. We also have a riding arena w/ equipment for schooling/jumping/games.

Also, we do attend local open shows, so this could be a nice oppurtunity for anyone with a tight budget interested in doing the same.

Feel free to share and you can email me directly KristyJSM@yahoo-dot-com.

riderless horse- LaCrosse WI/ Winona MN area

Her current rider is moving on, so looking for a new part time person for my TB mare.

15.2, 19 y/o, very well schooled, fun girl!

Has shown locally H/J and dressage, and done some low level eventing. Not for total beginner, but safe and reliable for someone with some horse experience.

Days and terms extremely flexible, she just needs more exercise than I can give her right now!

Experience Horseless Rider – Montgomery County MD

I am a 27 yo veterinarian who recently moved to the area. I am living in north potomac and desperately want to get back into riding. I have trained horses and taught riding lessons for years and have extensive experience in hunter/jumper as well as the fundamentals of dressage (mostly used for training purposes to soften horses and get them to bend)

I am 5’7" 135lbs. Comfortable riding green babies to experienced adult horses. Any size as long as they can carry my height. I would be willing to consider a half lease for the right horse. I am available to ride every evening, Wed and Sat afternoons, and any time Sundays

If this sounds like your horse, or if you know anyone who is looking for a rider like me PLEASE let me know! Thanks so much

I’m a confident beginner-intermediate rider. I can ride a horse while it’s walking or trotting. I’m happy to either have lessons or ride on my own and will come by anyplace within half an hour of Frederick

Fergs and Four Legs and a Heart, you each have a PM!

Riderless horse-NE Florida

11 YO Reg. Arab. Gelding. Needs 5 or 6 days a week work. I have others, a job and am old, so I don’t have the time he needs. No vices. Nice to work around. Very smart. Would be prefect for a teenager under supervision (4H or trainer). Or experienced, sensitive rider. On or off property free lease. Come see him.

Hello Again!
I’m a horseless rider in the Pioneer Vally of MA, currently studying at Hampshire College working on a pre-vet/equine degree. I had to put both my horses down in the months before heading to college and I couldn’t afford to buy another so I’m left horseless for the first time in years! I’m on the equestrian team but not getting enough riding or training time. I ridden everything from western pleasure to eventing, currently re-involving myself in the H/J world taking weekly lessons. I’m comfortable on just about any shape/size/level of horse. Experience with re schooling horses, training OTTB’s, breaking in horses, and working on dressage for the benefit of the horse. I have my car on campus and am willing to drive within a half hour of the 5 colleges. Message me here or email jrh11@hampshire.edu
Thanks!

Wanted to get some feedback on a half-lease…

I’ve never leased before (always owned my own horse) but am coming back to riding as an adult and want to lease for awhile before purchasing again. I know every agreement is probably different, but I’m looking at a potential half-lease right now. 16 year OTTB, eventer. I’m just looking to do jumpers and some dressage, and I think he’d be great and I feel comfortable with him, a huge plus.

If I’m half-leasing though, should I be expected to pay ALL of the farrier and vet bills? Shouldn’t that be split?

Thanks!

I would expect them to be split for a half lease.

There’s really no set rules and regulations. It depends on what you agree to. Write up a contract. If it’s a true half lease I too would expect everything to be split down the middle.
