There are always opportunities to attend competitions and xc schoolings. Feel free to send me a PM.

Horseless Rider - W. Orlando/Kissimmee/Winter Gardens area

Hello!

I’m down in Florida for a 6 month internship and hoping to keep up my riding and get some good horse time in. I specialize in Dressage and working with young horses. My dressage skill is solid 2nd level, some 3rd level and I have evented & ridden h/j in the lower levels… I’ve jumped 3’-3’6" courses in the past but now only enjoy doing lower stuff on a horse I trust. I’ve worked with gentling mustangs and babies, various breeds and ages and love watching and helping them learn. My riding/training has been praised by several instructors and clinicians including Mark Rashid. I worked in the horse industry for years in various positions including groom, trainer, and instructor but I’m now just looking to keep it an active hobby while I pursue a career in the entertainment world.

I have a resume on request and am looking for an opportunity that I may be able to ride 2-3 days a week as my schedule allows. I’m in my mid-twenties, 5’6"-ish and around 100lbs so ponies are not a problem at all. In fact I love them and other smaller breeds! I’m open to training, arena work, or just some casual trail riding. I’ve owned two horses (Polish Arab and TB) in the past and both were loved to bits and often praised for their happy dispositions and good manners!

Horseless Rider in Atlanta area

I am a young professional in my late 20’s. I am a responsible horse owner (have a BS in animal science) and a fairly accomplished rider. I currently own two of my own, a retired tb and a young holsteiner who will hopefully make it as an A/O jumper. My youngster won’t be ready to be started for another 8 months or so and I am getting a little antsy. About a year ago, I relocated from the midwest to Atlanta.

I have been riding for the past 23 years. Most of that time was spent riding with a well known and accomplished rider (USDF gold medal) and breeder in the midwest. I focused most of my time working for him putting miles on his freshly started 3 year olds and keeping the stallion’s in work while he was out of town at shows and clinics. Most of my show experience has been in the hunter and jumper rings. I competed many of my trainer’s babies in the baby and pre greens and my own in the jumper ring. I have also evented up to training level. The trainer I used to ride for focused on dressage. I have a solid dressage background and know how to properly work and start a youngster with patience, a soft hand, and a gentle seat. I have started, competed, and sold multiple horses over the past few years.

I am not looking to become a trainer. I have a non-horsey career that I love and have put that part of my life behind me and wish to maintain my amatuer status. What I am looking for is someone who may need some help starting a young warmblood or keeping up with their horses’s training. My ideal situation would be a barn with 2-3 young ones that you would like some help with twice 2-3 times a week. I am comfortable jumping a 4’3’’ course and working through a 3rd level dressage test. While, a horse with that kind of expereince would be great to ride, I am just as happy working with a talented youngster and I really enjoy watching the progress they make.

I mostly just miss riding consistently and being around horsey people. I am happy to help out at shows schooling, lunging, or showing in hand. I am also really good at marketing a horse for sale and have had great luck starting horses and then transitioning them to new homes.

I live in Atlanta (VA Highlands area). Knowing the limitations of barns super close to the city, if there would be a few horses that needed some work at one location I would be willing to drive up to an hour. I do work a full-time day job and would be available in the evenings and weekends.

If you think we may be a fit, PM me.

Thank you

Hi! I have a small private farm off Shattalon Drive near Yadkinville Road in Winston-Salem, NC. I am an adult re-rider and was fostering an OTTB last year, but it turned out she had ankle chips … My boarders of two years are about to leave, and I will have no animals to “mow” my 4 acres of pasture. I and my husband work full-time, and even if I get a couple horses, I won’t have time to pick the pastures and won’t have barn coverage when I’m out of town. I’m looking for the right person (read: mature, reliable, responsible) to offer free board in exchange for sharing the work. I have a roundpen and hope to add a true arena in the next year or two, although our pastures are flat and perfectly ride-able. I’d also perhaps consider getting two horses, and offer someone riding privileges in exchange for work. I’m going to have a Parelli instructor and a dressage instructor out – the schedule had been once per week each when I had the OTTB, although less in the winter.

I’m going into my senior year of college in Williamsburg, VA and I’m looking for someone to full/half lease my 6 year old 15.1 Trakehner cross. I haven’t had a chance to compete anywhere with him since I’ve owned him, (I bought him in 2010) but he’s great off property, hacks out alone, rides well by himself in the arena, jumps whatever you put in front of him, and has been cross country schooling a few times in the past. I’ve started him slowly and correctly and he’s learned to be very supple with the bit and accepting of his rider. He’s also very handy and athletic, and is super fun to ride.

Lease terms are flexible to the right situation. I wish I had more time to give him the attention he deserves! Please PM me for more info if interested.

Horseless rider in Central PA

I’m a horseless rider in the central PA area (Lewisburg) looking for a horse to ride! I rode hunter/jumpers for many years but have taken a hiatus for a little over a year now and am really itching to ride. My ideal situation would probably be finding someone who has a quiet older horse who could use some love and who enjoys relaxing trail rides, but I am probably up for anything. Thanks in advance!

Horseless rider in Afton, VA (near Charlottesville)

Hi! I’m an experienced eventer (evented my OTTB through Prelim/CCI*) who is in her mid-20’s, missing horses, and looking to get some saddle time after taking a few years off.

I have worked in several barns, was a working student with an ULR, was a live-in stable manager for two years at a boarding barn, took clinics and lessons actively while I was competing… so you can be assured that I’m capable!

I’m really not picky about what sort of horse I’d like to be riding, so if you are looking for someone to help you get your youngsters ridden or your competition horse kept fit or your pasture buddy taken out or whatever else you’ve got, I’d be happy to come out. Please feel free to get in touch or PM me if you have any questions or if you have something you think would work. Thank you!

Horseless Rider in DC/Northern Virginia

I am 26 years old and have been riding and competing H/J for 20 years. I did the pony hunters, Lg. Juniors, WIHS Eq, and Adult Jumpers/Level 5 Jumpers on the A circuit. In college, I showed in Open Fences and Flat in IHSA. I’m looking for a half lease for a jumper or hunter that can do at least the 3’ and higher, although I’m pretty flexible. I would take lessons and go to local and A shows. Please PM for more information! Thanks.

Horseless Rider Annapolis/Baltimore Area

In the Baltimore/Annapolis area for the rest of the summer, and would love to keep riding in my spare time. 28 yo with lots of experience on top quality horses, on the west coast A circuit, bringing along youngsters and working with difficult/nervous types. Strong H/J background, excellent dressage base and strong flatwork skills. Quiet, forward, soft rider, unflappable and patient, small enough for large ponies, experience with OTTBs and decades riding big, lofty WBS.

I’ve catch ridden and worked as a hired rider/assistant trainer in the past, but don’t have time to take a position full time, and get a little rusty and loose in the leg when I stop for too long - I’m looking for a way to keep my riding muscles reasonably fit and enjoy some time in the saddle this summer. If you have a horse that needs more miles, some re-training or improvement in their flatwork, I’d love to hear from you.

Also very interested in anyone who might want to trade some riding and grooming work for lessons.

Excellent equestrian CV, impeccable references, and recent video available.

Horseless Rider in Virginia - 20120 zip code

Horseless rider, 46, non-smoking, fit, and sane, not a criminal. Lease ended about two months ago and I miss riding. Looking to ride 2 or 3 times a week. Stay home Mom on one income, so can’t afford ownership or a full lease at the moment. Basically either looking for a horse that needs saddle time, and/or barter my riding skills (or even admin skills if anyone needs help around the barn office) for riding a horse that needs more work. Or, a half lease. (I missed out on being a working student during my younger single years; I’d love to find someone who needs a hand around the barn - a working student who is a learning sponge, free to work on weekdays, while the kids are in school, and doesn’t mind that I’m over 40!)

Not competing recognized (goal is to do mostly schooling shows, or clinics). I want to event, but realistically, that is down the road. Happy to just come out and ride, but I ride with a plan and purpose. Riding since I was 12; started H/J, introduced to Dressage when I lived overseas; enjoy trails and getting out of the ring. Never competed recognized, but did schooling shows and rode on my college riding team.

Would consider bartering a sensible arrangement of barn work for lessons, or a lease/saddle time (done that in the past). As for a work/barter arrangement, with the kids’ schedule can’t do an arrangement with regularly scheduled daily early morning or evening turn out, feed, or muck 24/7 or on weekends. Generally have about a 4 hour window of time to work and ride. Not afraid to get dirty, tidy up around the barn, clean tack, or do some gardening or landscaping around the property, etc. (Even had an arrangement once where I prepared meals for my barn manager who hated to cook. Three dinners a week for her and her husband = free lessons and saddle time.) Been in situations in the past where I worked very hard to earn my rides, and ended up doing more work more than riding, so “reasonable and fair” are the key words, here. Trying to find a balance of work that won’t bites into my limited window of time to ride. (Though I’m lucky, my kids are old enough now to be left on their own, and are low maintenance and responsible, so it makes it much easier than when they were younger.)

Not looking for anything hot and crazy, just want to work on the flat, get more saddle time under my belt, maybe pop around nothing bigger than a 2’6" course, for now. If you should come across anything, or hear of anything, would you keep me in mind, or let me know? I live in Centreville, VA (20120 zip) and would prefer to find a ride no further out than 15 miles/30 minutes from home. Thanks for considering, please PM me with any questions. ~MGB

barnworkbeatshousework - sent you a PM.

Horseless rider. 25 Have been riding and competing H/J for 6 years. In college, I showed in WTC in IHSA and Novice for the Western Team. I also was a warm up rider for the rodeo team. I rode on the national level 2 years in a row for IHSA and lived at the WK Kellogg Arabian Horse Center as a feed crew member. If you need your competition horse kept fit or your pasture buddy taken out , I’d be happy to come out. I just miss riding and because I am now a veterinary student I cannot afford a horse of my own. Please PM for more information! Thanks.

Riderless horses in Dayton Ohio. Looking for right person to share some riding and travel with to horse shows.[/QUOTE]

I wish I lived by tidy rabbit :frowning:

Had a post in 2012, here’s a 2013 update:

I have a lovely, green 5yo TB mare who benefits (like most TBs) from a consistent work schedule that I just can’t provide for her right now!

She’s a sweetheart, completely sound, I have a truck and trailer and am completely open to some showing opportunities. I am gearing her towards eventing, but she is young and athletic and can go in any direction you’d like. Bombproof on trails with a buddy, safe and reasonable when alone.

Send me a PM if you’re interested, I don’t check this thread often but my PMs get bounced to my email!

Also, I do have a 16 yo QH gelding who is terribly out of shape right now (working to remedy that but I’m not in very good shape myself at the moment!) but is a solid 1st level horse when in work, and can probably go farther than that if you put the effort in. He’s got a touch more difficult personality than my mare so will be harder to find a rider for, but I am also open to someone riding him if they’re looking for a horse with more experience.

I also have a 13.2 pony mule who is beginner friendly on trails and in the ring who would love a job. He is leaving for driving training in Sept unless I find someone interested in working with him.

All are located in the Amherst area, close to UMass/Smith/Mt. Holyoke/Hampshire/Amherst. Open to a college student, or someone older!

They are currently on my home property, w/ outdoor ring soon to come (plenty of fields and trails until then) but I am willing to move them to a few local barns w/indoors if leaser is willing to chip in a bit financially.

Horseless Rider - northern VA

I’m an adult adv. beginner rider with confidence issues (lack of riding) looking for a large pony or horse for pleasure and shows, will be working with a trainer.

I am located in northern VA but willing to look on the east coast. On or off farm lease, FTGH.

I’m in NW Austin and would love to find a mutually beneficial situation where I could ride once or twice a week. Been riding for about 25 years, mostly h/j but some eventing as well. Pretty open to anything, just looking to get my horse fix every once in a while without having to drive too far. Happy to send pics/video.
