Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

ISO horse to ride in central Indiana

Adult (early 30’s is as close of an age as you’re getting  ) looking for a horse to ride. I’ve ridden for around 13 or so years, have had horses at home, worked at barns, taught lessons, etc, but had to sell my horse and move to suburbia. We’ve since had 3 kids, life got in the way and now I’m dying to ride again. I’ve experience with hunters, dressage, and western, but probably prefer English disciplines. I’m a bit flabby from years of having babies so need to get back up and start riding. I’m in Avon, west of Indy, but will drive within a reasonable distance for the right situation! I’m just ideally looking for a low key setup and a horse to ride 2, at the most, days a week.

Horseless Rider - Greensboro, NC

Hi! I am a horseless rider in Greensboro, NC and willing to travel about 30 minutes outside the city, maybe longer depending. I trained up to preliminary eventing and first level dressage and competed up to training level eventing.

I am 26 years old, 5’5", 125 lbs and can handle most difficult horses or behavioral issues if needed. I am done with school for the semester and have had a decline in work hours so finally have time again for a horse.

I would like to throw out a suggestion…

I foster horses for a local rescue and the rescue is always looking for volunteers to ride and train their horses even if you can not foster.

If you have the ability and time they have horses in need. Look up your local rescue and see if they need a rider.

Tampa Bay, Florida Horseless Rider

I am relocating to Tampa Bay in a week or so, and horseless for the time being.

I am an experienced hunter-jumper rider. I’ve been part leasing, riding 2 -3 times a week for years. I’ve owned before but have mostly half leased. I’m comfortable with young horses and horses in training. Comfortable riding by myself and outside of a ring. I’m a tall gal (5’9") but slender so I can ride smaller horses if need be. I have enough knowledge about grooming, wrapping, feeding, care etc to be helpful in exchange for rides. I love TBs and they seem to love me, but I’ll ride whatever (with the exception of crazy).

I have references from trainers here in Southeast Florida who can vouch for me.

Horseless Rider Philadelphia

Hello,

I am a 32 year old horseless rider in the Philadelphia area. I’ve basically been a perpetual lesson-er since I was about 10. Most of my experience has been in hunt seat. It has been close to a year since I took regular lessons, decided to stop only because I’m saving to buy a house hopefully within the next year or so. I’d love to do some low-key hacking to get my muscles back in shape, and I miss being around horses. I’d be happy just to WTC on a nice steady-eddie type. I’m 5.2" so I fit on ponies also. Maybe you have an older guy or gal who could use some more attention and saddle time? I’m not really interested in greenies.
Willing to negotiate a fee to ride and/or willing to help with chores. I live in Philadelphia, willing to travel up to an hour outside for the right situation.
Please contact me via PM if you have something that may work!
Thanks!
Katie

Riderless horse, western pa

Hi All,
I’m searching for someone to ride my field hunter who also does ring work. Between a baby and work I’m not giving him the time and attention that he needs. Paying high school girls to exercise him has been a lesson in frustration, so now I’m looking for someone who actually wants to ride. He is pretty straightforward, and his rider is welcome to hack on extensive trails around the barn or do ring work. He jumps the moon and has strong flatwork, but is not the hunter-y type. Will place in schooling shows but his cuteness wouldn’t rub off on an A show judge. I’m not an eventer myself but have been told he is the ideal type. Opportunity to hunt for the right person, pending approval from hunt secretary. He must stay at his current barn, located south east of Pittsburgh. Let me know if you are interested and I’d be happy to provide more detail.

Horseless Rider in Gainesville, Fl

Hey everyone. I’m currently in vet school in my clinical year. All of my horses are boarded out of the state. I am thinking about shipping one to me, but I don’t think I will have a ton of time to ride and see them. I haven’t ridden consistently in the last 2 years, so I would love to have a horse to hack on the weekends to help me get back in riding shape. I was a professional before going to vet school, but I’m a bit rusty now. I’ll ride anything as long as it’s not going to try to kill me. I’m a hunter/jumper rider but did a year as a working student at a dressage barn.

So if you have an extra horse that needs some hacks on the weekend then message me!

Talented young TB/WB mare free full/part lease SE PA

I recently had knee surgery and my recovery is going to be much longer than anticipated. I have a lovely 16.1h dark grey AWS mare that needs a rider as I can’t afford to keep her out on full training board. Perfect for a confident teen/college student home for the summer with a good skill set, a working student, experienced adult ammy, or a pro looking for something to market and sell. She was to be a 3’+ horse for myself but my circumstances have suddenly changed.

She currently w/t/c leg yields started o/f, quiet and responsive. Brave to the jumps with plenty of scope. No buck/rear/spook, likes to work. Fancy enough to be a 3’+ hunter prospect but shows talent to go any direction.

She is located at a lovely farm with access to gorgeous indoor/outdoor rings and pretty much every amenity you could need. Please pm me (since replying to this thread I won’t get any notification) or email me at carlsonkate.e@gmail.com

Riderless Horse in Northern VA (close to DC)

Looking for some help keeping my horse in consistent work as I head back to work after having a child. She is a 6 year old OTTB with eventing experience. She was competing at beginner novice last year, and could easily move up to novice and possibly higher this year. She is a talented and fun jumper with a good work ethic.

She is boarded very close to D.C. at a barn in Great Falls. I’m looking for somebody with a dressage or eventing background interested in riding a few times a week, and willing to take regular lessons with my instructor to make sure we all stay on the same page. PM me if you are interested. Thanks!

Riderless horse in eastern CT

Looking for someone to do an off-farm lease. I can’t afford to keep my horse at a facility with a ring or place to ride and I want to see him worked.

12 yr old 15.3 TB. W/T/C. Barefoot. Leg yields, trails, started over low fences but hasn’t worked since fall. Intermediate rider or up.
I would love someone who really wants to work with him, possibly show him in the future. He’s usually quiet and laid back, sometimes loses his focus but not an issue for a confident rider.

Please PM me for more details. Please note that this is an off-farm lease ONLY, otherwise if I had a place to work him where he is I would be! :frowning:

There would be a contract as well.

Dear Horseless Riders: If you decide you don’t want to ride a Riderless Horse, please let the owner know. I’ve been burned twice and it will not happen a third time. Carry on!

1/2 lease (terms very negotiable)- West Grove/Cochranville area of Chester County PA

I have a 16,3 TB gelding available for 1/2 lease. He is 16 yrs old and a little out of shape. He could be ready to compete later this summer, if worked regularly. He has done some lower level eventing, jumpers and dressage. He could also do hunters. I am away for work for months at a time and some one could ride whenever they wanted while I was away. I would like to ride some when I am home. He is at a farm with a sand ring with jumps, grass dressage area and small cross country course. Some hacking. There is a former advanced eventer and dressage rider at the barn for lessons if wanted. Please respond here or email at MIPIRU3@me.com.

Volusia County, Florida Horseless Rider

I’ve been riding for around 10 years and have experience in western pleasure, dressage, and english pleasure. I’m looking for something within 20 miles or so of Edgewater, FL.

I’m more than happy to muck your horse’s stall, groom him, bathe him, etc. I can also wrap legs if your horse is prone to getting summer sores. If you’re looking for someone to take care of your horse on the days I ride, I’m your gal.

I also know how to take a horse’s temperature, so if I notice your horse is feeling under the weather, I could do that for you too.

I can no longer afford weekly lessons, so I figured I may as well post on here and see if anyone would be interested.

Riderless OTTB in Southern California

I have a friend who started a new job recently that is taking up a LOT of her time. She is trying desperately to find someone to ride her 14yo OTTB mare.

Please PM me if you are in the South LA/North OC area looking for a ride.

Riderless horse near Charlotte, NC

I have a big, sweet ASB gelding looking for a rider! Ben is 16.3 teenager who has done it all…he trail rides, has fox hunted and evented. Rides English and western. He has been mostly out of work the last couple of years due to my busy schedule but would love someone to pay him some attention. He’s fully sound, barefoot. Needs at least an intermediate rider only because he hasn’t been ridden much recently. He does not have any bad habits or vices, truly a gentle giant :). Please email me for more info if interested. finneventer@gmail.com

Can you move to Texas!? Exactly the type of horse I’d love to give carrots too! Sounds like a sweetheart.

Needed lease/borrow 2nd/3rd Dressage for Aug 8-10 for USPC National “A” Testing in VA

Going for the “A” traditional certification in United States Pony Club on Aug 8-10 in Middleburg Virginia. I have a horse to jump but I need to find a horse to do an INTERMEDIATE eventing test which is 2nd/3rd level. I would like to try the horse out before the test so I know what is arriving for the testing.

Anyone have a horse they would lease/loan for a week, a month or just the few days? During the testing it would be warmed up for 10-15 minutes, ridden in the Intermediate test once (possibly twice) and then would have the other A candidates on it for a BRIEF switch ride. The other days would be hanging out eating grass at the testing site.

trailering would be your choice of my trailer or a reliable commercial hauler. I would prefer to trailer in a day ahead to allow the horses to recover from the hauling. I usually sleep on the grounds next to the horses to ensure nothing happens to them.

I have done this testing before and passed on the flat with a
“borrowed that morning” horse. The other horse I switch rode was a Prix St. George horse and I also passed for riding him. If the horse came to me before the testing we would be working with Vicki Hammer O’Neill and Tom Noone for lessons unless you wanted otherwise.

PLEASE, PLEASE consider leasing your mid to upper dressage horse or upper level event horse. I do not have a resume for competitions because of finances and instead have poured all my money into lessons and learning. I would really like the opportunity to attain the A rating and confirm what I have learned.

Horseless rider in Vienna, VA

I’m a 30 year old rider in Vienna, and I’m looking for a horse or pony (I am under 4’11" and fit larges and mediums, and am just a hair big on smalls) to ride. Happy to just hack, but would be thrilled to occasionally pop over some jumps. I’m a hunter rider, have competed and been successful on the A circuit, rode all of college, quit for a few years, found a horse to ride for 2 years, and then that opportunity fell through (owner sold horse). I live in Vienna and work in Arlington.

Horseless Rider in Southern California

I’m in Southern CA until the end of September and am hoping to ride a bit. I haven’t ridden much in the past few years due to college and selling my horse, but I have previously competed at Training Level eventing and Second Level dressage. I’m also a current C3 Pony Clubber in traditional and dressage. I’ll be taking weekly lessons, but am hoping to get additional hours in the saddle to get back to my old riding condition! North OC or Irvine areas please.
