Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!

Horseless Rider in Portland, OR

I’m a 24-year-old grad student in Portland, OR looking for time in the saddle. My background is in hunter/jumpers and I LOVE silly green babies! I’ve been riding for about 12 years and shown up to 3’. Open to other disciplines as well. I spent four years riding IHSA and am comfortable catch-riding. I’m 5’8" and can ride anything at the upwards end of large ponies or taller. Send a PM or email (wohlebam@gmail.com), I’m happy to provide references or answer questions!

Need a Working Student/Rider in VA?

I am looking for a position as a part time working student in which I could do help around the barn, but could also school horses and ponies. No pay necessary just riding and showing time. Willing to help out around the barn, but during the school year I only have about 2 days per week. However, in the summer I am available 4-5 days per week. I also could be a pony jock and help train at the barn, as I am tall but skinny. Private or public barn. PM me if you are interested.

Check www.virginiaequestrian.com classifieds under help wanted. There have been a couple of positions similar to what you describe.

Where are you located? If near Fredericksburg/Stafford, PM me.

Riderless horse available west of Boston (Sherborn)

I recently broke my wrist (NOT a riding injury!!) and I’d love to find someone to ride my 12 year old Morgan gelding. He’s 15.3 hands, medium build, and well-trained. He’s alert to his surroundings, but he is quite sane and has a very good “whoa”. He’s at a very small, private barn in Sherborn, MA, with direct access to trails, with a very short hack to a beautiful indoor. He’s barefoot, and seems to love hacking through the snow. I would consider a short-term off-farm free lease to the right situation and person.
I’d like to find an at-least intermediate, adult rider who would enjoy free riding time while I’m recovering. There would also be the possibility for some sort of partial lease arrangement to continue riding for the longer term if desired
If you would like to learn more, please call Ellen at 508-280-0730.

Registered Oldenburg Mare - CT/MA

Lovely, 8-yr-old Hanoverian mare by Contucci (registered/branded Oldenburg) still available for free lease. She’s a very big 15.3 3/4 (perm card, looks and rides like she’s much bigger) with a huge step, auto lead change and brave, scopey jump. Currently showing in the 3’ divisions and will be moved up to 3’6". She’s a doll to work around on the ground - always has her ears up and isn’t mare-ish at all. I’d like to find a rider to share time/expenses on her. Number of rides per week is negotiable, as is the location. She’s currently boarded at a small farm in Marlborough, CT (w/indoor) but I would be willing to move her somewhere else as long as it’s within 45 minutes of Vernon, CT (where I live). This is a fantastic opportunity to ride and show a top-of-the-line horse without a big investment. She really is amazing! PM for more details/video/photos.

Horseless Rider Columbia SC

I am an upper level dressage rider (have also done some eventing) I had to put my horse down this summer and am now without anything to ride. Hoping someone out there has one that needs some exercise!

Riderless horses in WV’s eastern panhandle

I have a couple of horses I would be willing to free lease off the farm to qualified individuals with references within 45 mins of Martinsburg, WV.

Both horses have been turned out for quite some time and will need a bit of reschooling to get them back in shape and in a routine - I just don’t have the time for them.

The first, Steel, is a 15 year old grey Quarter Horse mare who stands about 15.2hh. I’ve used this horse in beginner walk/trot lessons - her trot is very smooth and she was very forgiving to typical beginner errors, though it takes a bit more aggressive rider to get her to canter. She has jumped 2’ courses under saddle, but has free jumped over 4’ so she could definitely handle higher fences - personally, I’m just comfortable with 2’-2’6. She clips, ties, loads, bathes, and stands for the farrier. Very easy keeper, with excellent feet.

The second, Sassy, is a 14 year old chestnut Appaloosa mare who stands about 13.2-14 hands (I need to measure). Sass is an excellent candidate for pony club/4H, but requires a strong child or small junior/adult rider. She will walk/trot/canter, trail ride, and jump small fences (I’ve never done more than cross rails with her, but she could easily jump 2’-2’6 with some work). Very friendly, in-your-pocket personality. She is an easy keeper with great feet - no shoes required and minimal trimming. She clips, ties, loads, bathes, and stands for the farrier.

I have pictures available if anyone’s interested. Please PM me with any questions.

Ok here I go…

I am in Citrus County Florida and would be willing to travel about 40 or so min outside to find some ride time ASAP.

I had a baby about 5 months ago so I am out of shape but would love to ride again. I have shown Novice level eventing, 1st level dressage and did the adult ammy Jumpers (4ft). Breed of horse does not matter to me but I would like to start on something at least half way sane…lol. Ring work or trail riding would be great:yes:

Would this be the best place to post a horse available for Feed Lease?

HORSELESS RIDER IN SAN DIEGO/DEL MAR

Hello –

I’m a horseless rider in San Diego. I’m fresh out of college and work for a non-profit. I rode in the Open level in IHSA and prior to college did the As in the Children’s hunters and the equitation, including Indio, Oaks etc.

I tend to get along with most horses and I believe that you can never take too good care of your horse. I’ve always ridden green horses and have done very well with them. I have also done ponies – I’m 5’6 and don’t look ridiculous on a medium. Please PM me if you have a boyfriend for me

Bucks County, PA horse share available

Since I haven’t yet sold my project horse I would like someone to share her with me. I thought sharing the board would help and if you know less than me I could give you a lesson (but I am by no means a trainer). She is at a nice barn with indoor and outdoor rings. I do dressage and eventing and would want someone who is interested in that. The mare is coming 6yo OTTB 16.0 hands, beautiful and athletic. Still wiggly but so willing. She is a special girl, with such a good mind. If you get along with my gelding you could ride him sometimes too. He’s 12 and 16.2 with take your breath away movement (especially when he is naughty!)
Probably an intermediate rider - confidence is more important than skill! Showing and trail rides at the Bucks County Horse Park possible in the spring.

Lots of Riderless OTTB’s

New Vocations has a great group of Thoroughbreds right now looking for riders. They have everything from unraced 2 yr olds to older more seasoned horses. Check them out at

Junior rider wanted in Virginia!!

I have two nice client sale equines. One is an Appendix gelding that is wonderful in Eq. and hunters. He has shown up to 3’6" but mostly has been doing 2’6" - 3’ with latest riders. I need a good riding kid to show him this year until sold. We want to do more Eq with him as he is quite handy. All show fees are PAID!! A and locally. Rider will have to pay for lessons and coaching at shows. Must be local to Gordonsville, VA. The 2nd is a green large pony that is a beautiful jumper and a nice mover. He needs to do more shows. He will mostly show locally, but owner may be able to pay for some VPBA classes at Culpeper. This is a great opportunity for a horseless kid to get lots of show experience.
I’ve posted on VA Equestrian, but no takers.

Horseless Rider in Boston, MA

I am a first year law student living in Boston and looking for a horse to ride 1-2x per week. I would prefer to work on lower level dressage at farm with an instructor and an indoor (since it gets dark so early). I also won’t be able to drive more than 1 hour each way to the barn.

About me: Soft hands, kind, quiet rider. 25 y.o. female. Need a horse 16 hh+. Have ridden since age 4. Grew up doing H/J and was a successful junior on the AA circuit. Moved to Chester County PA and foxhunted and did some low level eventing. Fell in love with dressage and would like to continue. I have managed a few farms, groomed for CCI*** & **** eventers and an upper level dressage rider & worked as a vet tech for a sports medicine vet in PA. I am reliable, flexible and have great references.

Please PM me if you are interested.

I am looking for a working student position in hopes of competing in Big Eq. I do not own or lease a horse. I am 15. I am solid at 3 ft and I am looking to move up. I would like to learn everything possible about competing, training, and horse management on the A and national circuit.
If you have an opening or know of a trainer in the area, please post!!

I will also be happy to exercise or show any horses!!
thanks!

I am located in Chester County/Exton, PA

Horseless Rider Near Winchester, VA

I am an experienced, although rusty, 48-year-old woman (gasp, where did the time go?!) who would love to get back in the saddle. For the past 10 years, I have ridden intermittently and even took a few old lady jumping classes last year (instructor moved back to Maine). I formerly competed Training Level eventing and 1st level dressage. I am so miserable without horses in my life and I hope someone can help me out. Thank you!
