Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!
Horse located on my small private farm- no arena, just flat grass area with some modest jumps. Currently needs confident rider because he hasn’t been in consistent work (I have a toddler and work)- he can and used to be a superstar but right now he’s a bit more challenging. 16 hand TB, primarily has been used for lower level eventing/jumper type. Showing option available if you haul.
I am looking for a horse to show, for the 2017 Winter/Spring season. Great opportunity for an owner that wants show miles with an experienced rider, without the crazy training fees. Will be in a program with upper level rider. PM for more info.
You do not say where you are or what type of showing you want to do or at what level. Your screen name includes eventing so I assume you want to event, but…

Riderless horse San Angelo, TX/ Goodfellow AFB

I have a lovely Arabian gelding who needs a rider. His last rider went to Germany in October and he needs to work. I have 2 small children and a green horse taking up my time. He has been shown 2nd level dressage, nice on trails, and is a real sweetheart. The only riders I have found for him have been AF officers/students. Please contact me if interested.

xhalt77 - you don’t say where you are located…

Half lease Washington DC area

I have a really nice Children’s/Adult hunter that I don’t really have time to ride while I’m in school. He is in MD currently but I’m willing to move him as long as it’s within an hour of DC. He’s well trained and super easy but I’m looking for someone who will take advantage of his talent/training. You must have a trainer or be willing to work with one. He would also make a nice lower level dressage horse. It’s a “free lease” but I would like some help with board. PM for details.

Horseless rider in Port Coquitlam, BC

I know this forum is mostly American but I figured I’d give it a shot… I’m new to the BC area and horse world. I have 16 years riding experience, have done some low-level (up to pre-training) eventing and have some jumpers experience, and lots of experience backing/starting/bringing along youngsters and introducing OTTB’s to the hunters/eventing life. I’m hoping there might be a horse somewhere in the greater Vancouver area (Maple Ridge, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, etc) who could use some love, attention, and exercise. Anything from unbroken youngsters to elderly walking-trails-only horses would be of interest. I just want to give some of my extra time to a lonely equine somewhere out there

I’m 5’9" and 130lbs.

Riderless Horses in Southern PA/Northern MD

I have two fabulous show hunters (one horse and one pony) available for free half leases in New Freedom, PA. Located 20 mins from York and about 40 mins from Baltimore. Looking for someone who wants to ride and show in exchange for some help with covering their board/expenses. No lease fee.

First is a saintly large pony gelding capable of short stirrup-childrens pony division. Easy easy easy. Great jumper and auto swap. Take lessons and show. Great to trail ride. Perfect for a kid or small adult who wants to show and or pleasure ride.

Second is a beautiful dutch warmblood gelding capable of the 2’6-3’. Loads of 3’3-3’6 miles but ready to step down and teach someone else the ropes. Super safe and knows his job but does need a bit of a more confident ride-- not accurate, just confident. Winner over fences anywhere. Amazing opportunity for someone who wants to be competitive at the local or rated horse shows.

PM for more info!

Riderless horse Apopka/Sorrento, FL

I’d love to find a good, horseless rider who would like to put some rides on my 12 yr old TB mare. I don’t have an arena, but she’s in an acre field with a few jumps. She’s fun but a bit green (only due to my lack of knowledge).

Hi! Horseless rider here! 4th/PSG level rider, looking for a dressage horse to free-lease/half lease. Getting back into the sport after 8 years off for a back injury. I live in NYC. Looking for a horse that’s preferable around 2nd level+, but any dressage training is fine. I recently started taking lessons again (October), and brushed up my upper level skills in a clinic last week (on borrowed horses). I have videos of my riding, if you want to see. Hope to hear from someone soon!

Horseless Rider in Northern NJ.

Hi there! I am looking for a half or quarter lease, full if readonable, in the Wayne area. I have been riding for 16 years in the hunter/jumper world. I have a lot of experience with babies and ottb’s, have shown in the 3’6 hunters and eq, and up to the level 5 jumpers. I took some time off during grad school and have been riding for the last year in lessons but would like to be more consistent! Open to anything really but would like something that can jump and be shown. I have no problem with green beans or something that needs to get back in shape. Sorry for the ramble, please let me know if anyones horse needs some extra work or reasonable lease. Thank you!

I have a 14 year old Irish TB gelding I’d like to free lease out. He’s coming back into work (he had a minor injury in the trailer last fall due to no fault of his own, which is fully healed and has 0 impact on his future abilities), so is not 100% fit yet. He’s done the jumpers at A-AA shows up to 1.1m but is better suited to 1m and under. Could do the hunters with the right rider. Played in the dressage sandbox last year with consistent high 60 or low seventy scores at Training Level. First level and Second Level would not be a problem. Has been cross country schooling and hunter pacing. He does need a confident rider over fences but will happily walk-trot around with less experienced riders. Best suited to a program, does best with some maintenance but nothing unusual.

I just have too many to keep in work at the moment (plus a super demanding job), so would like to find him an offsite lease situation where he can stay in work more regularly. Located in NJ, open to leases in the NJ/PA/NY/CT areas.

I have an 8 year old ottb who I can’t get out to ride as much as a want or as much as she needs, in the DFW area of Texas. I’m looking for someone to ride her when I can’t. She knows all she needs to do, but likes to pretend she doesn’t know how to do things, until you gently remind her. She is a mare after all. Her trot and canter are a dream and she is very sweet.

Horseless Rider in SE CT

Recently had to retire my beloved gelding and at the moment cannot afford two horses. Looking for someone that has a horse that needs exercise/hacking/trail riding etc… I am primarily a foxhunter, but with a h/j background and some experience eventing. I would be happy to ride any reasonably safe horse that needs exercise and usually do well with a more sensitive horses that need a light seat/leg/hand whether it be in a hunt saddle or dressage saddle. I have over 12+ years experience. I also have experience with ponies and can ride Med/Larges since I am on the smaller side. Willing to travel anywhere around the 395 corridor ( Mystic to Preston) .

Professional seeks lease of FEI horse

I have been riding and teaching dressage professionally for over 30 years. I need to get my silver and gold medals in order to better myself and promote my business. I have not shown in over 15 years, but I have continued my education over that time and have trained two horses to GP. I ride with a former USET member and clinic 5 times a year with a 2 time Olympian. Bottom line, I do not have the $$ to purchase an upper level horse. I am looking for a lease on a horse that is doing at least 4th level. What’s in it for you? You will get a finished Grand Prix horse back at no charge. Could be a good deal for someone who is off to university, grad school, having a baby, etc. that does not want to sell their horse. I’m in the upper left corner of the map (PNW). Impeccable references and testimonials from happy clients and students. Please PM

Riderless Horse 5 miles south of Culpeper, VA.

11 Year old 15.3 hand Tb/Welsh Cob cross mare. Wants to please but has been in inconsistent work last couple years so requires educated, kind, intermediate rider. Can be a little spooky, need time to settle in new situations but improves when in regular work. Primarily fox hunted but has done local hunter/jumper shows. Would love to find someone that wanted to ride her consistently and potentially do lessons/shows. Could be for sale with very negotiable terms to right match/great home. Owner bred this mare and very invested in her next situation. Just don’t have time to ride her consistently any more. PM for more info/link to video.

Horseless rider, here! Chicagoland area, riding for 25 years. H/Js through high school (A circuit, Maclay, Pony Finals), then dressage (working student with GP horses in training), back to H/J (IHSA nationals) in college, then, back to dressage post-college (breaking young horses, brief stint as a working student for former
Olympian). I’ve been focusing on my (non-horse) career 100% recently and grooming/riding when I can but I’m looking for a trainer willing to trade lessons for work (happy to groom once Lamplight start up again) or trade lessons for exercise riding (prefer dressage but would catch ride for H/Js).

Lapsed PATH Level 1 instructor (willing to re-up my certification) but really mostly interested in regular riding opportunities. I really just want back in the saddle with an opportunity for growth and learning - either working up the levels in dressage or even willing to go back over fences at this point. I just miss riding! Anyone know of a sales barn that could use an extra exercise rider or anyone needing extra hands before summer starts? Thank you!
