riderless horses and horseless riders?

1/2 riderless horse

I have a mare that would like some more saddle time. I started grad school in August, and my available time has waned. She needs/wants a job with regular work to thrive.

I am offering a free half-lease (up to 3-4 rides a week) at the facility I board her at in Granbury. There is a nice lit arena (with stereo), a few jumps, a round pen, and room to ride out around the place.

My girl: about to be 7yo WBx, 15.3H, big barrelled (I’m 5’11" and am ok on her). She has fabulous ground manners and is easy to catch and tack. She needs an intermediate to advanced rider under saddle, as she is very forward and can get strong. She has shown some at 2’6" in GHHJA and other Houston shows and been my partner in several dressage lessons.

Here are a few photos:

Riderless tbs in Culpeper, Va

I am in Culpeper, va and I have two thoroughbreds.
One is a 10 year old 17h grey. He is a super sweet guy- nice foundation in dressage doing well over fences about 3’ and movement to die for!
The other is a 16.2h 12 year old bay. He is being foxhunted by a friend- aparently they jumped a 4’ log with a 5’ spread the other day out hunting-didn’t know the guy had it in him!- he isn’t too keen on his dressage but he is put up with it. He really just loves to jump.

I am currently pregnant so I don’t want to take the chance riding even though I really do trust my two guys it isn’t worth the risk to me (plus the babies really make my balance suck!)
I am also needing to move them to another barn- personal reasons for the barn owner- so if anyone knows of anywhere that would be great too!

Denver Area

Moving to the Denver (Washington Park-area) March 1st. May or may not bring my greeeeeen mare with me, but probably will turn her out til July. Would LOVE a long term situation to ride a Dressage/Eventer/Jumper type. Doesn’t have to be fancy, but nothing crazy.
I am not picky! I would just love the saddle time. Willing to clean tack, muck out, whatever in exchange. I don’t care if I jump or not.

I have experience riding youngsters, OTTB’s, etc. Grew up hunting and riding hunter/jumpers in MD, have played and coached polo for 11 years, and still compete a teensy bit in dressage/over fences.

Anyone have anything they need kept fit? I’m your girl:winkgrin:

TB Gelding looking for a rider in SC

Riderless horse!

We have a gelding that is probably 17 years old. He did some Hunter showing several years back, but has really been sitting in a pasture doing nothing for the past 5 years. Every once in a while someone may hop on him to do a light hack but other than that he has been a pasture potato. He is a very nice mover (won almost every hack, even out of 15+ horses), amazing jumper, and has an automatic change. When my sister was riding and showing him a lot he was going really well and probably could have sold him for around 25k. He can be a lil spooky at times, and may be a little forward jumping, but if you have him in a working program and can ride tackfully, then you wont have any problems.

He didnt start showing until 2002 and only showed him for about 2 or 3 years. My sister stopped showing him because of college and work. He would make a really nice horse for someone wanting to just ride around, or wanting to show again. He is 100% sound, has the mind of a 6 yr old and probably could be worked consistently for another 10 years.

Here are a few pictures of him. This is summer 2008, completely out of work and never groomed. A VERY good looking horse in my opinion

Horseless in OK

I need to get back into horses for my sanity! I’m getting super burnt out on the corporate lifestyle. I have trained and shown hunter/jumpers for 20+ years. I took a few years off serious riding to work but am realizing horses are what truly make me happy. I did some training rides for about two months at a local barn but long story short, am not doing that anymore.

I’m looking for any riderless horse in the Tulsa area that might need to stretch their legs out more often or a few kinks worked out  I’m comfortable from ponies (I’m short and tiny) to OTTB’s to warmbloods, but probably wouldn’t turn down anything!

Riderless horse in Rochester, NY

I gave birth two months ago and just don’t have time for 2 horses (let alone 1 really). I am looking for someone who is interested in riding my 12 year old 16.3 tb hunter. He is a great boy who is somewhat fancy and super easy to ride. He is out of shape right now and needs to be brought back slowly. He has some health issues, so is not always sound. I am going to concentrate on my 4 year old jumper right now.

I will be very picky as to who rides him. I am looking for a rider who knows what they are doing. He is a very easy ride, but is heavy on the forehand (especially when out of shape) and needs someone who can feel it and won’t let him get away with it. He is a lovely jumper, but will not just pack you around if you don’t know what you are doing. He is capable of jumping 3’, but it would have to be discussed with me if any jumping was desired.

He is at a private barn with an indoor, so you must be comfortable riding alone. I am really easygoing, but treat my horses like kings, so I am VERY particular. This should be a great opportunity for someone as he is a awesome horse. He was being ridden 6 days a week, but is just as sane if only ridden 1 day a week.

Horseless Rider in Amherst, MA

Looking for anything to ride or lease - possibility of paying board at nice barn in Holyoke if possible!

I’ve been riding for 13 years, catch rode various sales horses to qualify for Maclay Regionals in 2007. Last summer I moved up to the 1.20 jumpers, was a working student and occasional groom for my trainer for two years. I love doing the hunters/eq, but I will ride anything, I enjoy working with greenies and seeing them progress too. I’m currently in school but I have a very open schedule this semester.

Fingers crossed!

Hood Rat - you have a PM

Riderless Horse in Northeast Kansas/North West MO.

Foxhunter, dressage-training and 1st level. 11 Years old, Black and White Paint. Very sane, very safe. Great horse but I am in college and along ways away!!! He has done everything and is great fun to ride. Use to be a lesson horse. 16 hands.

Well, it’s worth a shot…

I’m a horseless rider residing in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve ridden since I was 8 years old (hunter/jumper shows, all greenies), then for the NYU Equestrian Team. I haven’t ridden in a year, and between that and living in NYC I have nearly lost my mind. I’ll ride anything, and would ride anywhere, except that I don’t have a car (though I do have a Metrocard!). I’m stranded on an island without a horse in sight, so to say.

PM me if you have a lead

(Apologies for the pun)

Horseless rider in Oxford, PA (soon to be) looking for saddle time/barn to work at and help out. Took a 6-mo hiatus from riding due to moving out of the state, but moving back and itching to ride! Before break, was jumping around 3’, 1st level dressage, hacking out cross country. Unfortunately too tall to be a pony rider, but will gladly ride those bigger guys

Will be working full time, but available weekends, and able to help out in the mornings or evenings.

Horseless Rider

Harrisonburg/Staunton Virginia

I am looking to ride. I’m a 25 y.o. female, years of experience riding green horses, OTTBs, helped start a few horses (count 'em, FOUR), trail riding, hunters or jumpers. I have a flexible schedule and live in Weyers Cave. Feel free to PM me.

Horseless rider in Goose Creek/Charleston, SC.

PM me with any info!

Horseless Rider

Horseless (well kinda) rider in Loudoun County, Va looking for some extra ride time.

Unfortunately my full time job schedule has changed too much to accomodate my working student job so I have given that up. Finances will only allow me to take a lesson once a week or every other week, and because I cannot ride my own filly yet, I’m looking for some extra ride time. Maybe someone has some lesson ponies/horses that they could offer? Maybe a trail horse or older schoolmaster that needs to get out and stretch their legs. I’m an advanced beginner who needs more saddle time. Solid W/T/C, nothing hard…just me practicing my position, transitions, etc. Not looking to do any jumping yet, just flat work.

Can help with barn chores in exchange for ride time, or can pay some “rental fee”. Many years experience handling horses and a western pleasure background, but new to english. Hoping someone out there has a horse in need of some light riding, trail or arena…doesnt matter to me! Just looking for a sane, confidence builder for more saddle time in between lessons.

Please PM. Willing to travel into WV/Charlestown area, Clarke County, and possibly Brunswick/Frederick, MD area.

Thanks!!

riderless horse in MD

Probably a long shot given the current weather and it’s effect on my horse…

17 yr old 16h TB gelding in Boyds, MD. Does not, in the least, act 17. Can be springy and spunky and jig until the cows come home. So, in a word, FUN

Is currently best suited to an advanced/confident&quiet rider. If you can ignore the snorty jumping antics in the beginning, he’ll get down to work nicely. He’s very well schooled - a previous eventer and 3’6 jumper.

I am not riding nearly as often as I’d like (hence, the snorting beast). For a consistent rider, he’d be available multiple times a week - days or evenings (lighted ring), weekdays or weekends. He has dressage and jumping tack, many bits, boots, etc at hand if needed. He hasn’t done much jumping in the last year but could get back at it with a little conditioning work and assuming the ground lets up. I would have no problem with him lessoning, competing, etc. He has no known issues that would prevent him from taking up his old competitive eventing and jumper jobs.

Personally, I enjoy this horse tremendously. He loves a good excited trot through the fields or a gallop (bridge your reins and stay close to the saddle!). He’s not malicious in the least, just enjoying his older years a bit more than others do! The spring/summer/fall seem to quiet him down tenfold, so it’s kind of like riding two horses for the year

Without further adieu:
winter horse - “CrazyGlue”
summer horse - “SuperGlue”

edited to add - if this actually did appeal to anyone who loves nutters as much as I do, please email instead of PM! llefebure1@hotmail.com

Horseless Rider - Tallahassee Florida

Hiya! I’ve been riding competetively for 17 years. I rode for my college in Georgia. I ride hunters, jumpers, western pleasure, trail… I’m looking for a horse/horses to ride in my spare time. Thanks!

I’m a new mom with no time for my boy he is a 16.1 Th.bred bay gelding 17 years old.
Best boy ever ground ties, gentle around pets and kids. Loveable and affectionate.
In the ring beginner or novice can ride child, or adult. On trails better to have some experience a bit spooky sometimes.
Would brake my heart to see him unhappy.
Girl that has been part leasing is moving to Texas and I would hate to see him get out of shape. He rides english or western.
Stabled near C and D canal in MD
contact me if you know anyone interested.
Thanks!
