Horseless Rider Newark, DE

I am a 20 year old college student living in Newark, DE. Up until September of last year I was doing low level dressage and eventing with my TB gelding, unfortunately at that time he contracted Potomac Horse Fever which caused severe laminitis and founder. It’s been a long road but he’s alive and (most of the time anyway) comfortable. Though I’m very grateful to still have him around he is of course now a pasture pet and I’m really starting to miss riding.

There is just no way I can do board on two so getting a second horse is out of the question. If anyone has a horse (or even a larger pony - I’m 5’2) that needs ridden, I’d love to get back in the saddle. Though I’m not upper level material, I’ve been riding for about ten years and have ridden with well respected trainers in the area. I also consider myself to be very responsible.

I would be willing to do stalls/work in exchange for riding or pay what I could (unfortunately this wouldn’t be much) for a lease type situation. It would have to be within 1/2 hr drive, the closer the better, of Newark DE though as I work, go to school, and caring for my horse’s requires me to visit the him 4-5 times per week.

Horseless rider in DC

Hi all,

After a horseless year or so, I’m trying to get back into riding. I started with lessons and leasing when I was about 8 and then took lessons through college. Since then I have lived in Washington, DC and have been able to do some lessons and half leases. My experience is primarily with hunters although I have done some training level dressage. I’ve also driven, done lots of trails, and even swimming with ponies! I’m up for anything.

I’m about 5’9" and of average build. I’m a gentle rider and consider myself an advanced intermediate. I’d like to stay as close to DC as possible since I live and work in the city. I admit I’m not in the best shape right now so out of shape horses are welcome! We’ll get back to fighting shape together.

Riderless horse in Holliston, MA

Hoping I can connect with someone here. I have herniated a disc in my lumbar spine. So I’ve been off my girl for three months now (although I cheated a couple of times, which I paid for in spades), and now I’ve been told I need to have a diskectomy (my second, in fact), and I won’t be able to ride for “a few months” after that.

So here’s the scoop: Zippy is a 22-year-old Tbred. She evented to prelim. She’s in great shape–I hunted her first flight two seasons ago, we did several weekends up at GMHA in '08 before my hips finally gave out on me, and I mean we did 50 miles of trails in a weekend. When I’m not broken, I ride her 4 or 5 days a week. So, she’s in excellent shape, and she’s a nice ride for an intermediate rider. There’s an indoor ring and miles of trails. I’m having surgery in about 10 days and then it will be probably Thanksgiving before I can get on her again. She’s much happier when she works, and much healthier. If any of you would like to meet her, I’d be more than happy.

Send me a PM, or whatever. And a few jingles, I wouldn’t mind. I had a great positive attitude until this latest setback (I was actually considering doing some major endurance rides on her this summer–it was going to be my first great pain-free summer in a long time), but I’m really down right now.

Hunters or Polo Ponies in Washington or England

Hi,
Looking to ride and help you with your horses. I am currently living in WA and would be more than willing to drive to where you are located (I live in the middle of the state and Seattle isn’t hard for me to get to). I am also going to be moving to Oxford, Oxfordshire England in Sept. I would love to get rides there as well. Riderless horse in Athens, Ga

15 hand Appy mare just outside of Athens, Ga. I would love to find a rider for as she needs some attention and to get fitted up again. Horseless Rider - Tulsa, Oklahoma

I’m located in the Tulsa area and am currently horseless (unless I start my 2.5 year old early!).

I’m really just looking for anything that needs miles or exercise; pretty much anything four legged.

I’ve competed hunter/jumpers/eq with an emphasis on jumpers. I’m comfortable on anything small to tall, hot to bomb proof. I’m smaller (5’3", 115lbs) so I can fit on the small ones too. I tend to get along with alpha mares and hot horses the best, call me weird!

I’m an advanced rider, I’ve been out of the saddle 10 years, back in the saddle the last 1.5 years, looking to increase fitness by getting in some riding time.
