2 Horses for Lease in Delaware
RIDERLESS HORSES IN SOUTHERN DELAWARE!
Well I have some news to share…I am pregnant! I’ve decided not to risk riding, so am looking for situations for my 2 boys for the next year +.
Yankee is a 9 YO Bay TB gelding and is 16.2 hands. Very well trained guy, easy to ride, safe, and fun. Easy to work with and sensible. Has competed Novice level eventing, has also shown 1st level Dressage, and done some hunter stuff up to 3’. Should have no problems once brought back into shape (he’s gotten to be a bit lazy this year since I have been super busy).
Maverick is a 5 YO Chestnut TB gelding with a blaze and 4 whites-very flashy! He’s 15.3 hands and green, but fun and the best personality ever! Everyone who meets him loves him! He’s easy to work with, great manners, and has had 2 months of pro training (April-May 2008) prior to that he was hacked by his previous owner and trail ridden after he was done at the track.
My first choice is to find an experienced (possibly horseles?) rider close to me that would come to my farm and ride. I live in Southern Delaware (Bridgeville to be exact). All this person would have to do is show up, tack up, and ride. I have a new arena that is 150 x 200, and have access to trails on the farm. Redden State Forest is only 5 minutes away, and I would be willing to haul there if rider wanted to trail ride. I have a 2 horse trailer, and am willing to haul both horses to local shows, events, schoolings, etc., but rider would cover all expenses related to that. It doesn’t matter to me if the horses are shown or not, but the rider would have that option. This could be an awesome deal for someone who cannot afford horses, or really wants to ride and doesn’t have a farm, etc. I live on the farm, so I could be around to help get them ready and it could be fun for both of us! My trainer comes to the farm for lessons, so you could take lessons as well if you wanted. This would work as a free lease and the person would only have to pay for any gas, showing, lessons, etc. I will cover all vet, farrier, care, etc.
My second choice would be to do an off-farm lease where the rider would cover all expenses related to care, vet, farrier, showing, board, etc. I am not too keen on this idea as I love these guys and would be worried (like I don’t have enough to worry about now! LOL!), but if it was an excellent home that was within a 1 hour drive of me, I would certainly consider it so they could have jobs and be enjoyed. Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you think may be interested-thanks!
