Runhappy's trainer fired day after Breeder's Cup

I don’t care if any of the things they are saying about Maria are 100% true because if they were true on Sunday, they were obviously true on Saturday as well so therefore irrelevant.

Here’s another article on Maria that might be of interest.

Apparently she has a lawyer too!

Kara Harrison has some interesting comments at the end of the amerciasbestracing article.

Can’t find any comments by Kara Harrison. Getting old and my eyesight is terrible but did you mean Maria?
And this information was reported to the authorities and an investigation was made to verify your post? Clearly a serious charge. The riding instructor let it slide without a word to any officials?

You got link or article? If what you say is true the press, considering Maria ’ s notoriety now, would be all over this. Surely the videos would have been made public? Facebook can’t be verified.
Yeah and “Ah, uh jumped th’ fence …”
Good for you Ms.Trespasser-with-an-agenda!
Omare: You should care and if you don’t care why are you posting information on accusations by this Kara Harrison Tucker? I agree the videos are confusing. The law suit you posted is an appeals court decision

On the Kara Harris Facebook page there is a post accusing Kara of having an agenda and asking why she has not called the authorities. The videos on the FB page are dark and unclear in the stalls.

Also it appears that Kara maybe trespassing. Some FB videos show a large area with a great many horses. Hard to tell what’s what. The fence line disrepair is a natural course of events on farms.

Once again one must ask, if it so bad where is local animal control or the SPCA?
Is it me, or is this like that witch hunt because of media & crucify-by-Cothers from several years ago? <smfh>

The term defamation is leaving the lips of Maria ’ s lawyer. I guess Team Discount Mattress has been put on notice. Can only hope her lawyer also targets Kara, the farm owner. Rather than renting, Maria could own the place. Note the lawyer’s comments about the issue of whether Maria actually trained RUNHAPPY.

Jay Hodvey wrote a great drf article related to this controversial issue.

I have not been following much of this but oh my God, “it all started when I watched Sunday Silence win the Kentucky Derby with my Daddy, and I said Daddy this is what I want to do”, help me. She looks like a typical teenaged selfie absorbed narcissist. Racing is getting crazier by the moment.

Good article, but I’m taking issue with this quote, "Those who choose to participate in Thoroughbred racing are not necessarily required to behave well in public, but they do have an obligation to conduct their business in a manner that reflects admirably on the sport. "

WRT myself and my connections, that is how we roll, but there is no such rule or regulation. And seriously, Hodvey sets his standards too high.

Are you just another sniper looking to add nothing relevant to the discussion or are you looking for an opening to take all horseracing down another notch?

Good point.

Am getting a bit tired of this thread appearing to be “belonging” to one individual’s posts, countering others who disagree. And very sad to see some with good knowledge so put off that they are staying away.

Please - this is not all about one poster and their opinions, but about the subject.
Other opinions are allowed.

And I’m middle of the road on this topic - not taking one side or the other.

But the racing section in general is getting to be a bit overrun with one person’s comments. Kindly share the road.

Edited to add: I should temper this with appreciation for so many links and info, and appreciate the enthusiasm. But guess the attacks get annoying…
So you have verifiable info? Links that directly connect Borell to these accusations? Reason the turf writers haven’t jumped on this? GrumpyMare apparently had prior knowledge from instructor. This is animal abuse and GrumpyMare only posts to a thread? If Borell has done what is alleged then that is important for the public and horse racing to know. Can you substantiate the veracity of the owner videos and claims?

I agree with Mummy Peanut. Something smells. Maybe the same scent that emanates from a moldy old mattress . . .
You seem to have a personal connection to this trainer. And I agree with the poster that said at 35 you are no longer a young, naive women. Maybe 25. And now that other stories are coming out about her horse business acumen I’m getting the feeling Maria is like a lot of horse people, “flaky”.

She has done a good job with a great horse. My condolences are with him, I hope he continues to do well. This story reminds me of Summer Bird, big horse with little connections.

No personal connection, but raised two beautiful daughters who I wouldn’t want either of them or their children taken to the woodshed like the snipe and humiliaton that has been thrust upon Maria unnecessarily.

You might be surprise that I appreciate CVPEG’S post. Where I disagree is that she says I am attacking and I say I am asking for responsible posts.

Your post about most horse people being flaky makes my point. Or a previous post that Marie is an example of the narcissistic behavior. Maybe but not necessarily as pointed out in the link provided. Or the post about the groom actually training the horse to the BC championship appearing to label Maria as incompetent.

You should take into account that when I post I provide links and information as the basis for my thinking. You and others may not like the fact that I expect something of the same from others but I do.

This thread is open to all. I encourage the open exchange of thought but if a post is a snipe, misinformation, or malicious it is likely I or someone will challenge it.

I have always thought that if someone is tired of something they should get off their butt and do something about it. As pointed out this thread is a shared highway. I agree.

Additionally, CVPEG’S post alludes to the fact that I am crowding out the racing section. OUCH. With that in mind I will calm my enthusiasm and allow more racing forum opportunities for other enthusiastic members. With the exception of some current threads that I am interested in, of course.

Nothing I posted required a link. But I read those posted by others and I saw the ones by the property owner, Kara. The back stories coming out show this “trainer” not as the news media portrayed her. Definitely not an innocent in the mean, cruel, heartless world of horses. rolling my eyes here

So I am to be impressed that you can roll your eyes? Wouldn’t be surprised to know that you can do animated face impressions sitting on a toilet either. You are more than a few days late and dollar short on this thread. According to the linked BH article, it’s now in the hands on Maria’s lawyer and possibly the courts.

You give yourself away with your comment referring to the cruel heartless world of horses. With people like you spreading the love, it puts new meaning to horsemen spreading manure.

I promised in my previous post to calm my horseracing passions on COTH and make a few giga bytes available to other potential enthusiastic members. So unless something significant happens like Kara loses her farm, this is a dead thread for me. The lord has blessed me to make you my final response. “Now flushing the toilet.”

Really? A young lady saw a great performance and was inspired to then join the sport and chase greatness herself? What is narcissistic about that? If a teenager at your barn saw Michael Jung’s finish at Rolex and was inspired to be a three-day trainer, that would be narcissistic too? Huh? Isn’t that exactly what we want, young people to be inspired to become professional in the sport?

Ah…Sammy, don’t get mad or discouraged.

For the few that complain, there are many that are interested in your opinion. Don’t flush us all…
