Yes, he was a fine horse, and here we have been babbling about famous old horses for a couple of weeks now, it just dawned on me, no one had mentioned General C.
Have been wracking my brain for days trying to remember Bruce Dās horse that I really lusted after in the 1970sā¦just came up with it:
Kimās Song
I remember Roses are Red. She was a cutie. Susieās mom, Helen, still keeps a horse on the road with SBS, Gandolf. Last I heard she was still driving, tooā¦though that may have been a few years ago.
( I admit to having a lot of reference material!)
Hereās some more:
Dave Kelly on the Boylanās Claridges
RJ on Peggy Steinmanās Not Always
Jack Payne and Mrs. Jean Ruckerās Cold Climate
Peggy Augustus and Waiting Home
Jim James Again and Mrs. Rigan McKinney
Good Boy Dee Kip Rosenthal and then Gail Hulick
Dillon Michael Sasso and Karen McKelvey (??)
Royal Blue, (Winter Place) Bernie Traurig
Mrs DeMatteoās Russian Caviar and James Hulick
Old Dominion and Gene Cunningham
Mrs. Wallerās Royal Reveller and Dave Kelly
and of course, Gozzi, who won with Kennie Wheeler, Bernie Traurig, Paul Rose and Caroline Clark!
And I thought the Equitation horse was Birch Wood.
I was at LP that year too, only year I ever went in fact. It was 1983. I remember the imigration round-up.
I spent part of that show at the hospital having had my big toe stomped on, next another groom that worked for us dis-located her shoulder and wound up there and lastly Ian (Millar) our boss wound up there after skidding through the water jump and losing his hunt cap. All in all it was an awful show for us health wise.
As far as famous hunters go I did see Touch the Sun go there and LOVED him.

Was that the picture of her at MSG with Hot Shot Kid? I have that newspaper clipping somewhereā¦
Has anyone mentioned Singing the Blues? He excelled in both the hunt field and the working hunters, shown by a sixty something woman who also did the jumpers.
Yes geezerā¦you are correct!
i remember reading the book on Beacon hill Stables (Madden & Cooney) and being entranced by a horse named Charge Account. i think the riders name was Topping. Then i came across some pics of the same horse in GMs Hunter Seat Eq book. I always think of that lovely horse when people talk about ātrueā hunter form!
East Point, Mid Flight ridden by Dave K. Chado, Frank Chapot.Skyās Impression
When one mentions Penny Loeb, it is hard not to remember Zimās Mr. Spoons.
Showponymom, yes Melvin was at All Around when I was there. I havenāt seen him for years!
Duffy, I donāt know how this is possible but I have three email addresses for you. Iām pretty sure that one is wrongā¦help?
I remember Fanfayre, I trained that pony after they sold it to people in NJ. Tough pony to ride.

Another horse that was almost unbeatable in her prime was Terracotta. James Hulick rode her and my old pal Gail took care of her. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Your mention of James Hulick brings to mind General C. Has he been mentioned yet? VHV/Cedar Lodge Farm owned him.

Do you remeber when the had shows there and had an outside course? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> I remember the shows (tight parking), but not an outside course. Does Shannon still exist or is it condos
What about Night Murmur, ridden by Robin Berol?

Anyone remember Leaās Boots and [Casey?] Chamberlain? Totally coincidentally, her brother Chris is my financial advisor. It was quite an āold home weekā when we discovered our mutual background of Ox Ridge and Cedar Lodge back in the 1950ās.
Pammy Carmichael is known for riding Chance Step, but when I first met the family, Chance Step belonged to Brooke (her older sister and one of my best friends at Smith), and Pammie just had Lansonette. When Brooke stopped riding, Pammie got Brookeās horse. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
I remember Leaās Boots as well as the Carmichael horses. Brooke still had Chance Step when I first saw them show but IIRC the horse seemed to become even more successful after Pam started riding her. Lansonette was still my favorite though.
I knowā¦Itās hopeless
Okayā¦before I lose my mindā¦One of you pack rats who saved the old AHSA NEWS thingie we used to get with the suspensions in itā¦see if you can find the horse family Iām trying to remember that got set down and disappeared in the 70ās. Iāll never solve the mystery of R. Zimmermanās grey horse. I canāt miss two Jeopardy questions forever!!!
Amen to that! Somebody posted a wonderful, ancient pic of Terry in balloon britches and long pigtails last year. I would love to see it again if youāre out there!
