Oh come now, how can one love grey ponies yet hate it on their own head? Men don’t mind grey hair, it beats male pattern baldness. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You got me on that one. I am a sucker for grey ponies!

Speaking of Alan S…what about Rallydale smooth as silk in the junior hunters. I think he won every junior hunter class in Florida one year except for one won by Ivory Cross during a snow storm in Ocala.

Yes, Harry…another chestnut. Chance Step?

Yes,MAD…Great Find!!!
Love ALL the Pics!!!

BH2…Yes, she was a good kid, and I rode alot of Guyer ponies after they owned him…but not Polly, I don’t think. Ruby…Oh I’M alright…I don’t even have the right horse show for Kim’s party…Barkeep, another round!

Who is Tamara?

…or is that his son? They may both be in Ky.

Not Always was my favorite.

Is Market Rise the grey horse that wound up at Hurdle Hill Farm/Debbie Shaffner (now Stephens) in Buffalo, New York?

If so, I really liked that one too-along with a youngster named Virgnia Clay </div></BLOCKQUOTE>yep. She died in the same fire with Perfect Stranger and Magic Parade.

Some of my faves:
Grey Mist
Stocking Stuffer
Virginia Clay
Gozzi
Rivet
Dillon
Constant Comment
Ruxton
Mink n Pearls
Henry the Hawk
Touch the Sun

Never been on the forums before (thank you CC for the clue in). GREAT to get online and see Just For Fun right away, he carries all my fondest memories of my grandmother Nelms and our relationship. I remember getting the Horse of the Year award for her in Boston, several Washington and New York Grand Championships. The Wheeler’s are the very best.

How about Incentive and Savoy??

I also was at LP when Rain Forest died. I was showing in the pony hunters.

Another neat horse who left too soon was Rumors - I was watching that hack class, and the noise is still ringing in my ears.

uuuuuuugggghhh, got the willies now.

Wow, as a kid I had a book that I loved, which included photos of Scotch Tweed/Brooke Hodgson, Greg Best riding a pony (I think it was Grey Goose), Conrad winning the Medal, Leslie winning the Maclay, and many others from “back in the day.” I wonder if I still have that book anywhere…

Yes I was at LP that year too…many weird things happened that year at night!

Raise the Roof was a big chestnut thoroughbred gelding with big white face and four white socks. Really flashy. I bought him in 85 and had him until he passed in 96.

Roman Lyre… ???

auspicious was a tough one , he ended up in karen healy’s barn in the late 80’s

Now I am remembering Scotch Tweed as being bay with a white face, cannot remember the owner though - maybe Brooke Hodgson? Now the name of the Douglass horse will bother me.

Mom’s pretty sure that’s Little Fiddle. Not to contradict you .

Teri…Yes, it [Shannon] really is quite lovely now. I guess Mrs. Pennington also donated an additional 30 acres to the town. Is Lisa Rex the former Lisa Kladky?..that rode Red Baron?

Not as far back as the Cap and Gown, Cold Climate and Navy Commander era, but after Superflash and Ruxton, Charlie showed an adorable chestnut called So No Wonder. After leaving VA, I think he showed up north in the Small Juniors (the horse, not Charlie!). Two of my 80’s favorites were Stowaway and Country Clever. Incentive, mentioned several pages back, showed well but was not an easy one to get to the ring. Spiff N’ Polish was too cute for words. Disclaimer: I am not Sally Smith. I stole her horse’s name for our sailboat.
