Never been on the forums before (thank you CC for the clue in). GREAT to get online and see Just For Fun right away, he carries all my fondest memories of my grandmother Nelms and our relationship. I remember getting the Horse of the Year award for her in Boston, several Washington and New York Grand Championships. The Wheeler’s are the very best.
How about Incentive and Savoy?? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
LNR - Welcome! I don’t remember Savoy, but I do remember Incentive. That’s neat that you got to get the HOTY award for your grandmother.
P.S. - Please stay away from the log flume rides!

YES!!! Chance Step!!! Thank you!!!

I wasn’t there when Artie was there but I was when BW had it. Old Fred, he was the best and that damn courtyard. Poor Quentin had to rake the thing all the time and pick up BW’s cig butts. Do any of you guys remember Quentin Wilson that worked for BW?

I’m surprised to see only one mention of one of my all time favorites, Henry The Hawk. What an awesome horse he was! He wasn’t a good mover, but he could gallop and handle the four foot as well as anyone.
Last time I asked, he was still Leslie’s all time favorite hunter to ride!

What about Night Murmur, ridden by Robin Berol? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Big chesnut mare? I remember some giant “Murmur” mare that jumped really well! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Last Murmur was a big chestnut mare with a small star.

Race we remember them. We just can’t remember the damn horse’s name!!

Didn’t Ernie have something to do with Little Fiddle? Laughing Place Farm?[/QUOTE]

My grandparents owned Laughing Place Farm. Ernie is their nephew.

Devon and more from the NW

Devon came from Seattle- Diane and Johnny Johnson had him- had lop ears- won everything in this area- Bavaria was from this area as well- belonged to Gary henley- Brad Laird showed him and he was sold later on- River pilot is another one from the NW that ended up in California- What’s Up Doc ended up “back east”

Qail Run

Another horse from the NW- belonged to the Masters_ Tammy master is still training- her parents are still around i think!! Great supporters of the NW horseshow scene

Lord Sutler

my mare 301 was by the same stallion as Lord Sutler and others- his name was Setubal- I think there were other eastern horses by him as well- he moved to Ca and sired others- Raggedy Ann was another NW horse!!! Belonged to the Framer Family- Marty Kramer Urman still rides and shows!!!

Little Fiddle

Was owned by Joseph Stewart, My Place Stables. Joe was father to Russell and grandfather to Rusty. Shown by a varity of people, including working students, Russell, Rusty and Sissy Duffy Hawkins. (Mrs. Arthur Hawkins)

Wasn’t Charge Account more of an Equitation Horse than a true hunter? I could be wrong but I always remember him in the Eq. rather than the hunters. I remember Lion in Winter, around that same time, being a great hunter.

My mother owned a horse called Golden Alibhai that is the centerfold of George Morris’s book winning the Maclay with Conrad Homfeld

My Parents bred and sold Front Page to Jimmy Lee when he was a junior.

When I was a kid, I remember…

Lyle and Leslie Steele
January’s Best and Peter Pletcher
Doubletake and Eva Gonda
Play with Fire and Sandy Ferrel
Condor and Vanessa Haas
War Legacy
Chivalry and Jenny Carelton
and my junior hunter (who is now my low hunter because I turned pro:( )
Silver Threads in Red

Samotis, I remember War Legacy! I was good friends with the girl Sarah Hammock that owned him and lost track of her. He had such a great canter and slow jump. Also remember Condor well when he invaded the Colorado jr hunters with Vanessa Haas. Where are you from?

I am from Arizona. I used to show against War Legacy in Tucson at the winter shows. Sara Hammock, that was her name. He was a cool horse. Jumped ok, but his canter was to die for!

Yes, Lisa Rex is Lisa Kladsky. I knew her when she had Red Baron and rode with Brian Flynn I think. Brian rode for us some at Fairfield before Leslie came along, so I got to know Lisa at that time.

Now that name brings back yet another set of memories. Is that Brian Flynn who was married to Jay [Sargent] who now owns Sandy Point in RI? They ran Pine Hill in …Framingham, MA maybe?

Pine Hill was a nice barn that had good shows.

Ok I will give you a few more from the 80’s:

Innisfree- Mark Leone? and then Hillary Addington then I can’t remember
the next girl’s name
Classic- Lize Quintero
The Artist - Jennifer Pesko- this horse left way before it’s time.
Jen had another big bay horse but I can’t think of it’s name!

Pomp N’Ceremony- T-Whitehead
She was a meany on the ground!

BTW a few points from posts earlier on:
Devon (floppy ear grey) finished up back east in the A/os last I remember. Owned by a girl name Jennifer Huff? Last I saw him he was at Vintage Farm. Not sure if the horse went to live in Texas then- I think the Huff’s lived there?

And Tackpud…3PO went in breastplate with standing martingale attachment. He was pretty quirky about getting on him! He did have a good sense of humor!

Cleo - when did you know 3PO? I knew him when D.D. had him and he was so much fun to take care of. I could have watched him out in the paddock all day. He would play with anything! D.D.'s other junior horse, Earl, was a gorgeous bright bay who was much more mature about everything - the two extremes.
