Okay…BH’s you’ll remember this for me…What was the rider’s name [NOT a southern McKinney], pretty girl, rode at FCHC I think as a junior, that became a top skier and was on some talk shows? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Kim Riechelm. She had a wonderful pony named Polaris Make Believe.

YES, I remember Super Flash!! Always thought he looked like an inflated pony. Was he by Captain Flash? Thought Julie Kardon owned him too. But may be wrong.

Race tell your mom that I remember Wissie on TJ Tarquin Jay at Devon. In the big Jumper class at nite. Her bassett Maggie racing around after her in the ring barking. We all thought it was funny, but you know those mainline officials were not at all impressed…

Oh libgirl, that would be a really nice thing. Book about all the wonderful old hunters, pics included.

Early Autumn was one ponybreeder. Always thought it should have been a ch. mare instead of a bay gelding.

Snowbird may know of her Wellies7.

BH’s …we HAD to know eachother. I wish I was better with time frames. I barely remember in what decade stuff happened…let alone the year!!

TeriK…I’ll take the beat up funky farms of our youth anyday…over the rococo, fountained WPB barns these days. The horse itself seems to be just an afterthought in some of those joints.

Chanda - tell Judy and your Mom I was wondering if anyone was going to mention Market Rise. I loved that mare.

And talk about good jumpers…Boyne Valley was certainly one of them.

Who was Vintage Year?

Didn’t Ernie have something to do with Little Fiddle? Laughing Place Farm?

Bavaria.

What about Good Boy Dee </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

He looked gorgeous (from the pictures my trainer has - he was hers) at least from what I’ve seen. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yes, he was wonderful. Anyone remember Susan Lenehan’s Roses Are Red? A chestnut mare from the 1960’s? And I always admired Kristine Pfister’s Valhalla and Highclere also.

Did Devon come from the West Coast? Did he have lop ears?

Glad to see Duke of Paeonian show up(p 14) and Mariana, a really cool Jr. Hunter form Virginia. But 17 pages and no one mentioned Isgilde?

madeline
old enough to remember both Duke of P and Isgilde jumping back into the ring at Devon over the bank.

LOL!! Small world. He was a good boy.

Does the Neilsen’s farm in Bedford still exist? I traveled there once and was gape mouthed at how beautiful it was.

Alright,I did a Search and Found Becky…She is at Camelot Farms in Scottsdale,Az.
Looks like she was at The Oaks in June competing in Young Hunters…
Glad to know she is doing well!!
She is a Great Person!!

Hey BH2 I sent you a PM…

i remember reading the book on Beacon hill Stables (Madden & Cooney) and being entranced by a horse named Charge Account. i think the riders name was Topping. Then i came across some pics of the same horse in GMs Hunter Seat Eq book. I always think of that lovely horse when people talk about “true” hunter form! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

does anyone know the title of the aforementioned book? i’d much like to find a copy but I can’t for the life of me pull the title from the dredges of my brain. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

If you’re referring to the book Fit to Show (it’s the only Madden/Cooney book I know of), that’s Jenno Topping on the Newman’s large junior hunter Playing Games. The picture in GM’s book of Jenno, I’m pretty sure was of her on her eq horse, Charge Account, her partner when she won the '85 Medal Final and USET on, than a year later Mia Wood rode him to win the Medal Final as well.

P.S. I would love it if the Chronicle would put out a book about champions of the past (hint, hint…) Wouldn’t that be cool? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I’ve often thought that…maybe not necessary a book, but a video/DVD would be even better. There has been a number of books on many great jumpers, as well as videos of many major GPs, but there’s really nothing on hunters…the closest I’ve come to seeing anything about hunters was on that Rodney Jenkin video on selecting hunters and jumpers.

Finally, something I DO remember! The shaved pony!

You may delay the donning of your thongpends, Cindeye. Piece O’ Cake was indeed chestnut.

Uh, speak for yourself please.

Cindeye…shaking head…Riot Free a grey? Bay showed by Patty Heuckeroth. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I know. Cindeye…what a maroon! Stone Free, Riot Free…they’re all the same

And when I think of Maggie Moss, I think of Square Lake…a BAY (not a GRAY).

…I know it wasn’t my fine Xmass gift “Baseball Jesus” [attached of course] …who did a thing like that!!!

How could they not Ruby. We all remember them, they could gallop and jump. Maybe not the typical tight courses in the rings we have now, but they sure made our hearts soar to watch them. It would be fun to see how they would fair.

Amen to that! Somebody posted a wonderful, ancient pic of Terry in balloon britches and long pigtails last year. I would love to see it again if you’re out there! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

That was me. My sister and I rode with Junie from 1965 to 1968 and my father liked to take pictures. Unfortunately I don’t have a premium membership anymore. If you want to email me, I can send it to you and you can post it. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Was Melvin there when you rode there? He is such a great person. My kids love running into him at shows.

Perhaps it would behoove this old Johnson to purchase the Oscar Meyer Weiner wagon, The motorized wine cellar with sleep-it-off quarters, and a mobile breast check unit. With that sort of equipment, I would have company all day, I wonder what the shows would charge me for space?
