The wife’s horse is a grey Showponymom, perhaps I can send him to you when she tires of the work associated with riding.
Is the grey horse Appomattox?
Who had Devon back East? I loved him.

I have talked to a BUNCH of people, including myself, who were there, and NO ONE can remember what year it took place. Any takers??? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I’m thinking '78?

Claudius…Army Wife was on the same van as my eq. horse one year at New York. I was about fifteen, and stood in the truck petting her in awe the whole morning! I remember when poor Junie died during MSG too…and Terry sobbing

I think your feelings and mine are quite the same, he was here in Connecticut briefly, I didn’t warm up to him. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Lets just say he was not well liked down here in Pa either. I think him and Mark Bliss are from the same mold if you know what I mean.
Judy Lee and Like a Charm. Good one.
I’m sitting here with 60 pages printed out from this thread so that I can make one big file.
Silly Mommy, who is your horse?
I loved Lemon Tree, a palomino who won the Local Hunters at Devon several years in a row.
In ponies I loved Snowgoose.
Thank you LH for mentioning Holy Smoke. He was a special talented horse, who walked the lines in the Working and made the rest of 'em look like they were short strided. RIP “Andy”…a rogue on the track who found his niche in the ring!!!
Wow, brain fog. I could have sworn Alan showed him in the eq. We were pretty friendly, then.
Don’t forget to show them Raymond Burr jumping with no helmet - I can remember when that was perfectly acceptable in a show!
When I was younger I met an extraordinary horsewoman in New Jersey by the name of Georgieanne Jones. She is in her sixties now. One day, when I was helping her clear some stuff out of her house I saw all of these treasures in her house. She won a championship at Devon and I think had her picture on the cover of the Chronicle. From what I hear Georgieanne is not in the best health but I am curious to know if anyone has heard of her. I am not sure of the names of her horses, I know she had a grey stallion named Foxcatcher (I think). I will cherish the memories I had with Georgieanne and am just wondering if someone can tell me more about her.
racetb, is the grey horse in your picture Please Note?
Someone asked about Annie Devereaux’s a/o horse…when I knew her she had a brown named Trumpeter and a chestnut named Wheaties (hate to say it but I can’t remember if that was his show name or not.)
In the late fifties or early sixties, there was a hunter in California, River - something, ridden by a South American fellow that was quite fancy. As I remember he had quite a few hunters.

I remember Bill Fuller, but from his junior years. He rode at Shallowbrook, later on became a judge. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
That’s the one! I couldn’t remember who he rode with. He was a quirky sort, but he gave me some really great opportunities. Miss him dearly.
I’m glad to see people have mentioned Russian Caviar and Spiff and Polish. I took care of both of them at Fairfield
Leslie had the best green horse at Washington three years in a row, and they were all grey quarter horses.
Spiff and Polish
Nashville Brass
Silk and Satin
Quite a nice trio. Spiff and Brassy didn’t have the longest steps in the world, but that worked out fine because Leslie had no problem with galloping down the lines!
d o pnies count? then Smokey Joe
I just found this old ad for Maud Frank’s “Homer”…This bad boy was lovely but pulled like a FREIGHT TRAIN. I weigh 90 lbs. soaking wet…and usually ended up in the next county when attempting to jump around an outside course with him. Maudie and I came up with an innovative solution [or some other maniac gave us the idea]…We took a BIG hollow mouth snaffle, drilled a line of big holes in the top, a line of smaller holes in the bottom of the bit…and filled it with salt Backed him right off!!! LMAO!
