Sick cat Updated, doing much better!

You can also add low carb things to it to make it appetizing, like tuna water or parmesan cheese, some probiotics are tasty too

I never thought about parm cheese! I’ll have to try that.

It was recommended to me by my vet, for my diabetic cat.

another thing you can try is meat-flavored baby food mixed in.

Our Nic was on FortiFlora for his first few weeks here. No issues with palatability and it settled his tummy very well.

Good to know! thank you!

I’ve tried that in the past and she turned up her nose. I’ll give it another shot though. There’s got to be something commercial this cat will eat consistently. Maybe I’ll go buy her a feeder mouse, lol.

Believe it or not my prefer nutritional yeast to parmesan. I fed my neighbors cats for a couple of days and she uses dehydrated chicken crumbled up in wet and sometimes the churus.

Sometimes heating it just a little can help too.

Yeah and just because she will either eat only the head or just leave the head. Either way a delight for you…ek.

First, glad to read Ivy is feeling better ~ good job on monitoring and getting her to the vet ~

Try “Tiny Tiger” cat food in extra gravy varieties ~ Chewy ~ while I was not optimistic about it … it was really great for several of my cats during their “illness” periods …. the cans look cheap / gravy looks well not good but they all loved it, when they hated everything else !

Tuna juice is also good … and to stay hydrated ~ the water fountains are really great !

Miralax also worked great on my constipated seniors. Once a day right on wet food - never even noticed it !

Sent you a PM.

I’ll get some Tiny Tiger and try it. She refuses to eat chunky food now, so I’ll get the pate and mix in some water/tuna broth to add hydration

@Pep_n_Ann It’s the Tiny Tiger gravy that boosted them - it’s extra gravy and they devoured the juicy gravy and left the chunks but it’s been a great buy for my ill cats.

  • I did not use the pate type.

The Catit Pixi Fountain ~ really helped my seniors stay hydrated ~ easy to monitor with the lighting system ~ again I was skeptical but it is a pretty wonderful water fountain ~

Good Luck :four_leaf_clover: ~ Jingles & AO ~ Always Optimistic ~

My cat and year old kitten eat tiny tiger.
I prefer pate because gravy varieties tend to be super high carb, like dry food… but that’s my bias and may not be a concern if her glucose is fine.

I hope Ivy is feeling better soon and this was an isolated incident!

What I’ve found for cats who turn up their nose after eating something a couple times is to have a good variety and switch to something different before they say no. Beef for breakfast, chicken for dinner, salmon the next morning and then start the rotation over with beef. Different textures also help. I had a perfectly healthy cat who would refuse anything that was fed more than two times consecutively and this worked like a charm for 10 years.

If you are not opposed to raw, an ounce of boneless chicken thigh or fresh fish on a plate next to canned food is worth a try. Sometimes chewing on a mouse sized hunk of meat stimulates their appetite.

Ivy is feeling much better! She still has very runny stool, like it leaks when she’s bread loafing, but she is eating a little and is much more active. She’s currently locked in the bathroom for easy clean up and monitoring.

I got a ton of different wet food options yesterday, along with a water fountain. Hopefully she’ll eat some of them. I’m not opposed to raw. I’ll offer some chicken tonight. In the past she has turned up her nose at it, but we’ll see. The dogs will eat it if she doesn’t lol.

Yay! Continued jingles for her complete recovery.

Fortiflora sprinkled on top is like crack for some of my picky ones. And when I was dealing with really sick ones that just wanted the gravy/liquid, Sheba pate (the mini tins) has the perfect texture to turn into basically hearty gravy with just a little mushing and mixing with water.
