I heart PePe La Peuw, don’t you?
Thomas you commented about silly women and from I can tell you would be talking about those of us that feel no turnout is cruel.
Well done for telling me what I was thinking. Have you ever considered taking up the likes of psychic readings? They’re normally as full of bovine excrement.

Did you actually read anything I wrote? Or are you just intent on arguing till the cows come home?

Our argument is based on fact not emotion so your silly women comment was very telling on the kind of person you are.
You’re probably right. Indeed I’m sure in your head, you’re always right. What I actually meant was that it’s pretty silly to think that the owner of the horse under discussion would give a flying fig about what you think.

Lets stick to the topic instead of trying to derail the converstation.
Fair point. Heaven forbid it might divert to some nonsense such as child beating or pretending to know how much exercise a specific horse does or doesn’t get.

Mind you, I’ve not got a clue what this thread is about. You say it’s not about draw reins and it’s not about turn out either. So what is your point??

So now we’ve established that some owners, including Totilas’ don’t have the same views on turnout for horses that I … and seemingly you… have in common.

I have owned high level competition horses in number and for decades and have kept them turned out in herds whether or not it’s competition season. Some people don’t do that.

I’ve not got a clue what your experience is or even who you are as your snapping like a little pekingese dog behind a gate. Hiding behind anonymity.

I personally would do it different. You would.

You think it’s “cruel”. I think worse things happen at sea. I know Totilas’ connections won’t care less what you or I think.
Cowgirl please read the thread it is not about draw reins.
 One more time.

WHAT is it about? I understand you didn’t bring up the turn out issue. You commented on it. And commented on it. And commented on it.

Here you have a poster trying to get it back to the topic it was (we guess) and you say it’s not the topic.

Off to watch my dog chase it’s tail.

Attacking me I said this would happen because people do not want to discuss the dirty little secret in dressage. You are correct Thomas they won’t care what I think I never thought they would.

Talk about draw reins I don’t care I don’t have a problem with those as I have said before.

Thomas I wouldn’t have to be that annoying little dog if people would read and not read into what someone writes. It is frustrating always having to say no I didn’t say that or again this is not just about this particular horse.

Now go to bed and no supper for you my girl!

Whoops sorry for a moment I thought you were my 4 year old grandaughter:winkgrin:

And I thought you were my crabby OLD grandfather:D Happy New Year!

Thankfully you’re wrong on that one too.

But do give him my regards and sincere best wishes.

I see no sense of humor…

P.S. They are both dead so no worries there Thomas.

What dirty little secret? And just fyi,I’m honestly asking because I’m a jumper and read stuff over here trying to pick something new up

So far I’ve read about draw reins and turn out after a link being posted in the OP. I thought the article was neat and interesting to read. The only point of this thread which I’ve been able to discerne was for us to read the article.

Did you just want us to read it? Did you want us to discuss a certain point in the article? The ‘title’ is about Totilas, while the comment is about draw reins (which you’ve said you were just asking…randomly? just a side note?)

I’m confused! But I am blonde, so maybe it just comes naturally

Well, you DID ask!

Attacking me I said this would happen because people do not want to discuss the dirty little secret in dressage

What dirty little secret??

Seriously, no one can figure out wtf you are going on about this time.

Robot horses, explains the no turnout.

Also, the drawreins are on a gag.

Thanks for this post, I agree with all of it. Horses can and will hurt themselves in all sorts of ways. Bashing their heads in getting cast in a stall, freaking in a trailer, stepping wrong when being ridden. I’ve known quite a few horses hurt (and put down) in turn out as well. But horses are herd/grazing animals, and I can speak from experience that I have known few horses where turn out was not their very favorite activity. My mare had not been turned out for several weeks because of an infection, and the pure joy she exhibited today turned out on grass was amazing.

I liken a horse without turn out like a dog confined to a crate or chained in a yard most of the day, how many feel that is OK? It’s just not in the animals nature. I simply find it sad.

Robot horses, explains the no turnout.

Also, the drawreins are on a gag.

Oh Lord. if these horses show any spookiness, excess energy or resistances they are poorly trained and if they are calm and cooperative they are robots! Must be tough coming up with new ways to criticize them!

Don’t know if it’s a gag or not.

The Op claims she did not start this thread to comment on drawreins or on turnout or even on Totilas ( can’t you people read!) but apparently wants people to discuss “the dirty little secret in dressage” whatever that may be.

Kareen - you’ve certainly outdone yourself this time… at least as far as drama is concerned.

Let’s have this discussion again once you own a horse that does at least compete successfully at the World Championship level and then we’ll go from there.

It’s easy to be on your high chair when you don’t have nor will ever have a horse in the race, but please, don’t be so close-minded as to forbid actual “doers” their affinity towards safety when it comes to multi-millon dollar horses.

Sorry but I have to totally agree with Siegi Kareen. Plus, you’re always finding some major fault with the successful riders training methods. Hmmm

The article said Totilas goes in the walker, didn’t it? Plus hand walking in addition to his riding. So maybe not as “perfect” as turn out in a grassy paddock, but hardly “locked up” 24/7. If he is a wild man in turn out then I don’t blame them a for not turning him out.

I am however a firm believer in turn-out. On this farm its coming into the barn that’s the “treat”. In fact I think far more horses become unsound because they spend 23 hours a day standing in a stall, then 1 hour being worked hard, then back in the stall. It only makes sense that stronger bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons will develop in a horse that moves around, runs, plays and :eek:gasp:eek: even stomps flies than the horse standing in a stall.

Total first post, brings up draw reins question and an article.

As for you Egon I asked a simple question I see the holiday has not changed your nasty attitude. Coming from the jumper world we don’t have an issue with draw reins when used correctly.

Confirms initial post was about draw rein question.

Cowgirl please read the thread it is not about draw reins.

In reply to Cowgirl answering the single question in the actual OP, asking about draw reins.

Attacking me I said this would happen because people do not want to discuss the dirty little secret in dressage.

I’m guessing the dirty little secret would be posting for comprehension?

If y’all dont like each other so much how come you keep hanging out in the same bar?
