Spinoff: Anyone looking for long lost barn pals?
Love to hear from folks who rode at Watchung Stables in the mid 80s to mid 90s. :)
Well, I know of some people that rode/taught at watchung
during the 80’s and 90’s perhaps. My old vet, Dr. Joehansun use to ride there, prob during that time period. She has a practice in Morristown NJ as far as I know. There’s also Ginny Safris (idk her maiden name) use to work there and I followed her to a private barn when I was about 10 yrs old. Apparently she sold her two horses, Taz and Straight Up with a Twist, and moved to FL??? I haven’t seen/heard/spoke to them since I was like 12-13. This was about 6 years ago.

I would love to get in touch with

Roxann Parks Last I heard she was working for a sporthorse training in Minn.

Carol Biddick She was at Potomac Horse Center in 1987-88.I know she’s married and was working as a nurse.

Sue Bright USET team groom in South Hamilton,Mass.1989-91

Any info would be great!
If I’m not mistaken, Sue and I were at Potomac Horse Center at the same time, 1979-1980ish. She groomed for Grant Schneidman so that probably was her in to get with the USET. Great girl - blond, gorgeous, sound familiar?

Still looking for Scott Bursall, Lydia from the Steinkrause’s, and Lee Kranz from Thomas School.

Since this got bumped, another shout out for anyone from these California stables:

Hillsview Saddle Club
Meadowlark Farms
Four Seasons Farms
Rex Reynolds Stables
AC Marion Stables

A few years ago I decided to look up some of the friends I had made at the local riding school when I was a junior. Many of them were easy to locate through classmates.com and through those contacts I was able to locate others. Some of us still stay in touch and we have had several small reunions since then.

I would love to reconnect with Shannon Meyer - she has remarried since I knew her, so probably has a new last name. She lived in Arvada, CO last I knew (back in 2001). Used to own the barn where I kept my horse, was into jumping and hunter paces but ended up dropping all that when she met her future husband. Sold all her English-y horses and bought a little Roping mare!

Bumping this thread up…

I’m looking for my friend Kristina Cutting. She showed Arabs and I showed Morgans up and down the East Coast through our Jr. yr’s. Her family had an Arab farm named Cyn-Dad Arabians(Mid 80’s early 90’s)
She was from Barre, Mass. I moved to TN and haven’t seen her in almost 15 yrs.
Anybody know her?
Just have to say a HUGE thanks to 867-5309 for doing some creative snooping and finding my friend Kristina! We are talking (now, as a matter of fact!) and I am soooooo happy!

Thanks COTH, another happy day!

My former trainer was at Potomac at about that time. her name was Nancy Wagner at the time. Familiar?

Some horses I do remember…
Little Mac (stay clear of his left ear!)
Jeep
Fred (King’s Ransom)
Steamboat
Katy
Optical Illusion… old steeple chase champion, great jumper, but bounced you around like a washing machine at trot BLESS his heart…
Flair
Gin
I remember lots more but not their names.
LOVED being able to ride such a variety…

My twin sister got along great with a privately owned lovely mare named Night Watch, they were a perfect match

I also remember a horse that only counselors were allowed to ride, I think TB gelding that we were told had been on the A circuit as a jumper, but had had a nervous breakdown and couldn’t be shown anymore… very handsome boy

Campers names I remember:
Maria and Missy Russo, from NYC
Cricket
Jolie
Carolyn Fries
Lots of campers were from NYC, so I was fascinated to hear their stories of the city…

Counselors:
One that stands out was Carol Ann Bradly
Maureen something, hilarious girl, very fun teacher
I can’t remember any others at the moment, but they were al fun and good instructors
I was there at this same time I remember all those horses and several of those campers.

Cricket took Robin home that year or the year before I was there last and fell while jumping her. Robin landed on Crickets face/jaw and it was a mess- several surgeries and that kind of thing. Do you remember a girl named Dara (Lubin I think?) She also went to middle school with me and Cricket and another girl who was there Reiko Shioji (obviously a Japanese girl) who loved Flair.Oh and my cousin was there in 80 also, Megan Brown. ETA and a girl named Cheryl Kahn I went to middle school with too! MAN! there were so many of us from the same school there- and I barely noticed then!

That last summer I was there (maybe 80) I rode Little Mac and Woodstock alot- loved those two! What I would not give for a pony like them!

Other horses… Double Image (Optical Illusions daughter? Someones daughter), Tia Maria (one girl from NYC brought this pony with her iirc), … oh and there was a really large, red chestnut gelding who bit… I wanna’ say his name was Denmark, but I know that is not it- HOLLANDER! That’s it!

The head counselor/instructor was Cassie Panton. I ended up riding with her again when I lived in Elmira NY from 2001ish to 2002ish?

Gosh! What memories!

Love this thread…

Squeezix, hopehill, angela Freda:
I too went to BRENTWOOD CAMP but it was way back in the mid 70s. I do remember the horse Flair. DO you remember the one provate horse, English Leather? I wish I could remember the girl’s name. She had been at the camp several years in a row.

heatherny2, angela freda: I’m also from Orange County NY. Angela, are you Colleen’s volunteer? I’m June from HorseTalk!!!
OMG yes June, that would be me! Colleens volunteer! Though you know, she does have others! (LOL)

Tina Haines

I’m not looking for a friend, but for my horse’s breeder - TINA HAINES. I would love to give her an update on the boy she bred!!!

On his papers it says she lives in Mifflinburg, PA. That was also 8 years ago, so I guess she could be anywhere.

If it helps his reg. name is Dolly Observer:eek:
By Forward Observer, out of Prissy Dolly Pine.

I’d love to know what hapened to my first dressage instructor, Werner Platzer. I taught at Sunnyfield and for Goldens Bridge Hounds Pony Club (Bedford NY area) in the 60s and early 70s, but left when Mrs McIntosh died and Sunnyfield turned into a hunter barn.

I would also love to know where Heather Dutton is. We rode together in Bedford NY in the 60s, where she had a palomino. Then she moved to Virginia. I ran into her at a horse show in Oakton VA in the early 80s, and I know her last name changed, but I can’t remember what. So I expect she is in N VA, but I never ran into her again.

And anybody that rode with Goldens Bridge Hounds Pony Club in the 60s-early 70s.

Any oldies out there, like me, who remember Rose Tree Hunt Club when it was in Upper Providence, PA? Before it moved out to York County??
Yes. Many many many moons ago. Did not hunt, but vaguely remember stomping thru the barn as a kid.

My former trainer was at Potomac at about that time. her name was Nancy Wagner at the time. Familiar?
If I recall, Nancy had blondish hair and bought a really nice horse that she let me use in a clinic on showing in hand. She was a nice lady and a good trainer.

Anyone know what happened to Sue Albright? She taught at William Woods in the 70’s then moved to Texas (sinuses) in 1979-80. Last I heard she was head trainer at some barn down there.

I would love to contact any of the “kids” who boarded at Lawhon Stables, Atlanta, Ga.
nearly forty years ago. I managed the barn and they were a blast!!

Count me in!

Looking for anyone who rode at Natalie Johnson’s Stables in Doylestown, PA, (Bucks County) back in, say, 1986-1993… ish? I went to horse camp there for many years until I moved to Timber Edge Farm from 1993-1995. My younger sister also rode there.

My mom owned a horse named Camelot, and I owned Rodney and then Copper (reg name: My Happy Pappy). When Nat passed away, we later “adopted” Eddie, Billy, Sassy, Flower… and maybe more that I’m forgetting at the moment.

These are a few of the names I remember… Katie Fitzpatrick, Elaina (Peria?), Jenn Kane, Amy Price, Lindsey (rode Camelot), Kimmy & Lauren White, Mary (was a camp counselor w/curly hair)… and there are many more people I remember but forgot the names!!

I have some video of shows from this era, if anyone knows of these folks or someone who might have rode at NJS in the late 80s/early 90s, there’s some classic footage.

When I was growing up my best girlfriend and unindicted co-conspirator was name Katherine Ann Pigg. Yes. She shared my first horse with me for about six months, until she got her own horse. She went to the University of Iowa vet school, became a vet and got married, though I don’t know her married name. An absolutely delightful person. And her mother Henrietta, of Lake Bluff, Illinois, was a paragon of kindness, warmth, and Southern charm. She was so amazingly sweet to me though I was a difficult child. If anyone knows of a pretty, petite brown-haired woman large-animal vet named Kathy in the Midwest, that might be her.

Yes it WAS many many many moons ago! Early to mid 1960’s. Sometimes it seems just like it was yesterday, though.

Would love to chat with any of the many girls I rode and attended summer camps at Windy Knoll Farm in Millersville, MD from '99-'01! Including a girl named Jacquie. She was about 13 in 2001 when I was 11. We always had so much fun together!

Did anyone on here go to Camp Rim Rock? I was there in the early 90s for the all-horseback riding weeks.
I did! But in 2006-07. So a little bit of a time difference:D

Anyone on here from this years?

Would love to know if Amy Connor from Louisiana is still around? She gave me lessons at City Park Stable in 1985-86 when I was at Tulane. She was an eventer and was a fantastic trainer. She lived in Covington.
