Spring CotH hunting weekend in Virginia??!

Ganeymede - another thought is to come for a visit during Hunt Week here in Virginia. It’s a whole week of hunting with different clubs. Lots of social stuff so hubby doesn’t die of boredom - there’s also hunting with the footpacks, and the weather is usually pretty good as it’s earlier in the season.

HR’s place is centrally located and not fair from the airport. There are also other liveries if HR’s horses are booked.

It’s about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on so please do plan on visiting.

Hunter’s Rest - I just sent you an e-mail to your personal e-mail addy. Not sure about March - still working on getting into riding shape, and work wise may be tough. Sister lives in Winchester so I know it’s about 5 & 1/2 hrs for me to her house.

As a rerider, I have also yet to get the proper attire (any riding attire!) back into my closet. (Why, or why did I buy custom Derdaus BEFORE having kids!)

But your scenario sounds so wonderful. I also have a friend with Limestone Hunt that I would love to kidnap some day to come with me as well. But for now, I’ll put a toe in the water…

CVPeg, you can always go down and car follow for your first trip. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to hunting, and then you can make a stop at Middleburg Tack Exchange for your riding attire. You can also check out an afternoon of basset hunting, if they’re going out when you visit.

Well, I had my arm twisted  last night during a nice long conversation with Hunter’s Rest, and that’s what the plan is now! (Plus she’s also providing timely advice on other riding issues!)

All this talk of tiaras. Should I wear an upswept do? Bring hairspray?

I am so happy you are going, you will have the best time ever.

CVPeg-
When I went a few months ago, I had my “travel” jeans, my “dinner” jeans, and my “car following/basseting” jeans. I think I got really swanky and added a scarf for the dinner/awarding of tiaras/consuming food & refreshing libations soiree. You get the drift. Upswept do and hairspray is left to the individual princess, of course. Usually my hair is pulled back in a pony tail with wisps of hay scattered throughout.
So glad you will be joining us. You won’t want to go back home.

We haven’t gone to up-dos yet. We have been following Kate’s proper wedding do…

(or the ever popular beauty queen model…:D:lol:)

Girls I am LATE to the party again sigh I’ve been so darned busy!!

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this one or not. It most likely depends as my horse has been lame for the last 6 weeks, and now he’s got what appears to be a bone bruise (potentially) which means that we might be rideable, we might not be…

sigh

Which means that my rather chubby butt will not be in shape enough to hunt unless things turn around in a jiffy. It’s possible that I may be able to get away to car follow but uncertain.

I’ve been thinking that this is possibly an excuse to get a second horse again…you know…so that my riding fitness isn’t impaired when I have one “out” for a bit…but I’m not sure if Mr. Onegraypony would go for it.

Are there any attendees who are heading to the farm for the non-riding festivities?

Sunnymeadefarm, I’m certain that both grooming services and gourmet chef services would be welcomed with open arms. (I believe I’m riding a grey, can we be BEST friends?) And with this group, there’s really no need to keep those hobbies separate, we’re all coming to the table with a faint whiff of “eau de equine”, even after our showers

If my husband joins me again on this trip, I know he would LOVE to talk with you about cooking, it’s his passion.

It looks as though CVPeg is car following, and there is always an amazing group of car followers for Old Dominion Hunt.

Yes, Sunnymeade - the more princesses, the better - esp. if they can cook!

Wait a minute, Hinderella!

No hogging the grooming skills of Sunnymeade! I want to sign up, too! (I may have my gray mare out instead of the Dressage Diva.)

Sunnymeade is PERFECT Hunter Princess material!

We all love having another gourmet cook to join in the cooking festivities. Mr. Hinderella is a blast to work with in the kitchen. We always learn new methods and pearls of wisdom amid the banter. It is better than a cooking class.

Given that our tiaras are suitable for 5 years old and up, fitting them to one’s head is easy. They tend to perch, which makes them fashionably daring. Some of us have created our own tiaras, or have hit the airport gift shop, party store, or internet tiara emporiums.

Sir Bradley shows up in full Norman chain mail, long sword and regal helm. Given he is 6’ tall, that can be a bit intimating at the entrance. He does change into courtly regalia for the rest of the evening.

The rest of us are in some variety of hunt country casual. “Dinner jeans” are great or similar skirts for those who dare to show their legs. Comfortable shoes. Our houses tend to be cool, so a sweater/wrap of some sort is useful. Feather boas are surprisingly warm, by the way.

What great fun!

I’m usually in Carhartts and during hunting season I walk around with a blaze orange cap too. In public.

Let’s sit together.

Oh good heavens, Sunnymeade! I’m in SWVA near Bristol and often I ponder about wearing my Carhartts to work except they aren’t “clean” if you get my drift. I wore my new Carhartt jacket basseting. I felt very suave.
I car followed last time. Join us! We insist! I’m sure you’ll “cut a shine”.

Uhh, sometimes you wear that hideous Hi-lighter yellow one too.

Hey sunnymeade, if Hunter’s Rest is full, you can stay at my place. You had me at lemon curd.

Thank you, all.

LOL Sunnymeade-
I used to wear a nice ring DH got me for my birthday to Lowes and Home Depot because that was/is the usual social outing we make on the weekend. OK, well, we do go to the bookstore to get some culture and all-we-can-eat-fried catfish at the local dive/diner.

We are working on luring Mr. Hinderella down for the soiree around the 24th. My gallant DH, Saint Carl, will be here to inspire and assist in the divine repasts.

We have a little family endeavor, Virginia Wine Bottling, which is a mobile Italian factory in trailer that appears to be a regular horse conveyance. So guess what I’m sharing…
:winkgrin::cool::smiley:

(Not the horses)

Oh, Whicker,
How very interrrrrrrrrrestttttttttinngggggg.
It is always good to share.
See ya in March!
