Sunnymeadefarm, surely you jest!!! I see by the time of your post that it’s way past 8:30!! (that’s when the party really starts!) I’m signed up for the weekend of the 24th. I do hope you will be there- I will pm you tommorrow about horse shopping! (What better shopping is there???!!!)
How about a list of who is coming on which weekend?
I’m going the 24th
Please feel free to PM me.

ManyDogs, I ordered one too!! Mine hasen’t arrived yet and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it fits. How true to size do they run? I ordered a bigger size because my show coat is a 16! when my street clothes are a 10…
Plus do you think it will be too warm to wear them? I hope not!
Is anyone familiar with the boots available on Tack of the Day today? Are they suitable for hunting? Any opinions on quality, fit, etc.? TIA
I’ve never seen a pair of boots that had the zipper in the location it appears to be on those. I’d wonder how comfortable they’d be.
JennyN-
I ordered an 8 and a 10 (by mistake, I didn’t cancel one) and much to my surprise, the 8 was more comfortable as in looser fit. The 10 seemed about the same size of the 8 and the arms were a bit snug. I’m sending the 10 back-wondering if it was mis-sized. If I had just ordered the 10, I would have thought I needed a 12! I wish horse-related clothing fit and was sized like “regular” clothing. I wear an 8 normally so yours should fit.
Although I think the coats are 20 oz, they do not feel heavy-they fit very comfortably.
I don’t know how warm it will be in VA in March. I usually get cold easily so I think I’ll be OK.
By the way-the coats are verrrrry nice. I am very pleased with how they look, fox buttons and all.
HI everyone! Wish I could make it back to the hunt weekend, but alas, I cannot get away from my businesses. Yes, that’s plural…and scarey as h*ll!
We have been knee deep in mud and only been able to hunt a couple times since the beginning of the year. The ground has only been frozen for about a week, maybe a couple inches of snow…and lots of rain and mud here in Indy. Ugh.
So I’ll hold my broken tiara and my lift some lemoncello and wish you all happy hunting!
Ahhh, so it was you, BigbayTB, that had the lemoncello! It was a topic of conversation quite a bit when I was up for the HP weekend last Fall.
Saw those TOTD boots and considered them as a possibility, then saw TOTD’s policy: “No returns”!
If “one” peruses the sale/clearance section of the Sierra Trading Post web site, “one” can acquire a Barbour quilted jacket for about $70, not $350.
Oh, I am so a fan of buying expensive stuff at rock bottom prices. Esp Carhartts @ 1/2 off at the end of the season.
Bring on them pearls. I’ll wear mine, too.
It is fun to shop for new things, but you can certainly use your “tatty” field boots if you can polish them up.
I’m fond of used boots, it’s nice to have someone else handle the breakin period for you. I’ve gotten some great buys on eBay
For instance, there are these lovely Dehner dress boots:

or these Effinghams:

My enabling is done…
I was planning on joining you on the 24th.
HR I was planning on the 24th too - I’ll call for permission. Hoping to bring Lurch this time if he’ll keep his *&$!! shoes on.
Goody, JSwan! I’ve been wanting to meet the big guy!
I’m hoping to find his missing shoe. It’s out there. Somewhere…
The boots I usually hunt in have this kind of zipper. I don’t find it uncomfortable at all.
The zipper can’t dig into the back of your ankle. If your leg is on correctly, it’s not too near the saddle, so shouldn’t scratch the flap.
When I’m on the horse, I’m not even sure you can tell there is a zipper. Maybe from straight-on, but not from the side or back.
I even had patent tops put on mine, years ago. Somewhat uncoventional, but since I’m not sure I’ll ever get the busted foot through a regular boot throat again, I’m glad I did it.
Yes Janet and JSwan, but you 2 don’t need me to save rooms/horses! There are many more - Wateryglen, MalibuMorgan, etc. who live locally that should very well be out with us too.
Got it!
