Spring CotH hunting weekend in Virginia??!

Hunter’s Rest,

Pleasantmeadow is coming down for the 3/24 hunt. She is bringing her new Irish mare and the “Perfect Pony” for me to ride. He is the one I rode when I went up to Amwell Valley for their fabulous hunt ball weekend. We’ll be escorting the debutante in the back of your field. It is going to be soo much fun!

I’m doing the 24th weekend.

WG is green with envy…

Oh good grief!!! Pleasant Meadow has ANOTHER perfect horse and an Irish one at that?!!:eek:I think I hate you and I hope you fall off…grrrrr! Maybe I can just push you off on 3/24…git you all muddy & stuff…better watch out! I can be very hostile when I’m jealous ya know! Be afraid!
Wishing lotsa manure stains for PM!!

She hasn’t earned the “perfect” moniker just yet!

Behave Wateryglen! I sure hope newbie has the right stuff to earn the title! She’s only been back under saddle for two weeks… Hard for them to be bad when they’re unfit! We’ll see what happens when the pretty thing muscles up and feels her oats! You may not have to wish to hard! So far, she’s been quite the princess. Smart, careful, respectful and oh so very willing… Time will tell and not much time for the two of us to be on the same page before our journey… positive vibes please

I’m bringing a friend down who’s interested in learning everything there is to know about hunting, and is hoping for a guide car following… As she’s only been on two trial rides in her life, she’s going to watch safely from a warm car before signing up at Hunter’s Rest for one of her perfect ponies… Hopefully by next Fall we’ll have another convert!

PS - What else are you supposed to use credit card checks for???

Cheer up, WateryGlen,
Pleasantmeadow’s RID isn’t quite perfect for you…
She is a lovely dapple gray!:winkgrin::smiley:

Besides, I get dibs on sitting on her when she is visiting. How else will I be able to report back how her perfection is coming along?

If you get a chance to see some of the other horses that PM has bred, bought, or otherwise lured into her barn, you’ll be amazed at the consistence of the quality of her beasties. What an eye!

Thash okaaaaa, Wudoff
patpatpat One day we’re gonna join in
their reindeer games

Until then Shanta’s wet bar ish open.

So there’s another weekend 3/24? Are my ears hearing correctly? perking up Do you still have space?

I’m wondering if I should bring my wild-man down for the lessoning parts but not to hunt proper? Though the month of February didn’t work out for us (he was kicked in January and it took the month of February to heal to the point that he could be ridden), perhaps you can get a glimpse of what I have to work with?

I…might be able to swing it…holds breath

OneGrayPony
I perhaps have space, moreso if you bring your horse. I may have a spare for the hunting day but we’ll be full-up for lessons/rides, so certainly bring yours (plenty of stalls/paddocks.) There is, by last count, a single bed left (literally a single bed - if that’s ok!)
Email me at home to talk more!

Regrets that I will miss the festivities!

Sunnymeade, I’m sorry to hear that you won’t make it. I know my DH was hoping to share cooking tips with you. I hope I will see you in the fall.

OGP, hope you make it down. I’m counting the weekends now.

Sunnymeade,
I’m sooo disappointed that you can’t come this time.:frowning: I was really looking forward to time with you and your DH. Please plan to come visit even if it isn’t during hunt season. We will plan to royally entertain you.

Thank you for the regrets, Hinderella and Whicker.

Please have a terrific, safe weekend!

I’m going to make it! Yippee! I am so excited!

Now I’m trying to figure out transport because I’d like to bring the big bad man. But alas, I am trailer-less. I should have a trailer, but I don’t…it hasn’t bubbled up to the top of the priority list (and it’s at times like this that I regret every single decision that has led to a lack of trailer-dom).

Maybe I should just ride him down…if I start now…

Beware the buds!

JSwan,
I discovered that the terrifying forsythia bush that almost got your horse last Spring coth hunt has spread to my trails.

Wren and Tali,(Sir Mason’s steed) both alphas, were spooked and aghasted that the bush was at least 12 feet tall. It was showing fierce buds. The tentacles waved out to capture them. Thank goodness, they could hide behind a bulldozer, next to a chicken pied a terre.

Should I outfit them with ASTM helmets?

 I’ve never seen a horse disappear so fast in my life.

I don’t know if it was the Waving Tentacles of Death, or the Rabid Robins of Death flapping their wings within the Waving Tentacles of Death. All I know is that the horse disappeared and poor Cammie was left in the air for a split second - just like in the cartoons.

Keep your heels down! It’s spring!

Was signed up for the weekend. Looking forward to it for quite some time. Plans have fallen through. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Ah, the lovely forsythia bush. Such a pretty harbinger of spring, and the perfect stalking spot for the dreaded invisible grizzly bear.

I’m just glad I managed to stay on, and lucky that JSwan and Timely Impulse were in the way of our desperate bid to escape the frightening Buds of Doom. Otherwise I’m pretty sure the horse and I would have been in the next county before we stopped.

Very bummed I can’t join in the fun this time. Hope everyone has a good time, and that no one is attacked by foliage of any kind.

CVPeg, I’m sorry you won’t make it. Hope you can come another time.

Cammie, you won’t be there either? Sorry to hear that, too. My husband says hello, he always enjoys visiting with you.

Alas, I discovered that my young cat has terrible teeth, and all of my trip funds will be going towards her expensive dental treatment. I’d rather come and ride, but I suppose I should be a good Mom and fix her lousy chompers!

Tell Mr. H I say hello back, and I look forward to seeing you guys in the fall or whenever the next group gathering will be. And of course, if you make your way out to Coronado again let me know and I’ll drive down to meet you.
