Stomatitis and the Dumped Kitty - Nic graduates 2/10

He reminds me so very much of my Ollie - the look, the attitude, the only difference was Ollie was rather grouchy about the other cats.

I’m glad he is doing so well. He clearly is enjoying landing in the lap of luxury now. Give him a kiss and a soft goody for me. Also, if he likes the Tiki try the Core Tiny tasters. Also soft food and a good serving size. Smudge (and the other cats when they can grab some) love it.

He looks like a different cat!!!

If it weren’t for the ear, I’d suspect a ringer!

Nic says he is an inside kitty now so he can be picky about what he eats.

Oh good idea!

He looks so comfortable and content. I’m so happy for him. :two_hearts:

I’m glad the colony kitties are enjoying the food he doesn’t like. Snickers has gotten so picky with age it’s ridiculous. And Squeaky and Tank don’t always like it either.

Divas, the lot of them. :joy:

He looks SO happy.

Tell your BIL that some crazy cat ladies have 8 indoor kitties, plus one in their work office. So 5 in the house is easy-peasy!

If I had a time machine I would go back and have 5 cats upon move-in, that way I’d be ‘grandfathered in’ to a 5 kitty max LOL.

BiL has come a long way. BiL and Mr. BC’s mom is anti-cat, like throwing rocks at neighboord cats in her garden "digging up her roses " anti-cat. They grew up with their stepdad’s elderly labradores, but they didn’t really bond with the dogs - saw them as more of chores than pets. After the old labs died, MiL didn’t want any pets, so they boys didn’t really get to grow up knowing the love of an animal.

For both Mr. BC and BiL, my kitties were the first ones that they have had any long-term interaction with. Mr. BC had some hilarious moments when he decided to get me a kitten from craigslist and kept it at his apartment for a few days before giving to me for Christmas. He didn’t get a litterbox - but put down newspaper (I guess like a for potty-training a puppy?) and slept with the light on since the kitten was meowing at night and he thought the kitten was afraid of the dark! . Fortunately he has grown to be a great kitten papa, and learned a bunch, but just goes to show these guys did not grow up with animals. So I can see how sharing a living space with my kitty hostel + 4 resident cats could be a bit much LOL.

Tell him cats are like potato chips - you can’t have just one. Or 4. You must have more to make it worth your while.

lol. yeah that’ll work

DH had zero cat experience when he moved in.
I had a cat.
Who used to wake me by sitting on my chest purring, gently patting my face & then ever so softly bite my nose.
I knew DH had been accepted when he reported waking up after I’d gone to work, with cat sitting on his chest “growling”.
Cat then did his Pat & Bite, terrifying DH, who was convinced he’d lose an eye. :kissing_cat:

Nic is such a sweet, maybe he can break the 4 Is Enuff Rule?

Hahaha being thrown off by purring is a hallmark of a cat newbie! Mr.BC thought the cat was congested or had something stuck in its throat :joy::joy:

Um glad Mr. 2DF survived his terrifying morning attack lol!

Nic’s appetite has improved and the drooling is getting better. He still isn’t ready for kibble just yet.

He walks to the kibble dish, sniffs it, and gently picks up one piece, says “nope - too hard!” And spits it out. I’m happy to give him xtra tiki cat pouches to pick some lbs on him and hopefully help with his coat. His fur is patchy and thin on his hind quarters and belly - maybe from being itchy from flea dermatitis.

He’s making progress with some toys - I love how Wheata is serving some major side-eye in the background. How dare this new interloper get near Prince Wheatabix’s sacred bed! All told, I think Wheata accepts Nic’s mellow energy much better than last summers’ 8 foster kittens bouncing around.

If I was closer I’d figure out a way to fit him in . . . sigh! He just looks SO happy and grateful.

Our Dempsey’s fur had the consistency of cardboard when we got him :crying_cat_face:
Good food couldn’t fix his cauliflower ear, but it gave him a soft coat :smirk_cat:

You might try adding some vitamin B12 to his food for a while. I do this for my cat that has kidney disease, and I’ve noticed his coat looks sleeker since I’ve been doing that. It’s cheap, and it’s one of those things that won’t hurt, might help. You can get Vitamin B12 in liquid form from Chewy’s and just squirt a little on his food.

Or a bit of Vit E. Get the D not the Dl. The dl is artificial.
