If I had a time machine I would go back and have 5 cats upon move-in, that way I’d be ‘grandfathered in’ to a 5 kitty max LOL.
BiL has come a long way. BiL and Mr. BC’s mom is anti-cat, like throwing rocks at neighboord cats in her garden "digging up her roses "
anti-cat. They grew up with their stepdad’s elderly labradores, but they didn’t really bond with the dogs - saw them as more of chores than pets. After the old labs died, MiL didn’t want any pets, so they boys didn’t really get to grow up knowing the love of an animal.
For both Mr. BC and BiL, my kitties were the first ones that they have had any long-term interaction with. Mr. BC had some hilarious moments when he decided to get me a kitten from craigslist and kept it at his apartment for a few days before giving to me for Christmas. He didn’t get a litterbox - but put down newspaper (I guess like a for potty-training a puppy?) and slept with the light on since the kitten was meowing at night and he thought the kitten was afraid of the dark!
. Fortunately he has grown to be a great kitten papa, and learned a bunch, but just goes to show these guys did not grow up with animals. So I can see how sharing a living space with my kitty hostel + 4 resident cats could be a bit much LOL.
