Straight from the insider's.. Barbaro had another good night!! Up and At 'em!!!!

6pm EST… STILL in surgery.

Afraid I only have good old ESPN and ESPN2 to depend on. My cable subscription did not include ESPNNews. I may need to change that after this
And, of course,I depend on you guys! Keep us updated!

ESPN Sports Center

Updates now

Very close to end of surgery

Will be transfered by monorail to pool when surgery is over… will wake up in pool

Well, we don’t know for sure that he’s still in surgery. He might be in the recovery pool and they are waiting to see how he comes out of anesthesia before updating the press.

Is it still on?
If I run will I catch any of it?

People… lets keep this thread for updates… use the others for general discussion… I think people are missing updates that are a page or two back and clogging the thread up asking for updates.

Pretty Please…

.

What channel is ESPN 1? I am having a hard time fiquring out Dircet TV

OK that was a mini update. Saying the same thing.

In surgery still, will be in sling then into pool in raft to recover, then to standing in stall. Thats when the important part comes in. When he has to bear weight on the leg.

But not out of the woods yet. Still more potential problems in the future. Founder could be an issue later…etc.

Remeber Chris Kappler’s brilliant Stallion, Royal Kaliber, succumbed to colic that was brought on by the stall rest for his injury.

on the other thread, there was a suggestion for donations to New Bolton in Barbaros name.
Here is the link- that posted said that even 5.00 would help, and at the end, all 3000 of us would make a difference

6:09 pm EST

Jeanine… still waiting… surgery near completion

9 TV satelite trucks in parking lot… lots of media.

ESPN–Update from New Bolton- surgery is almost completed

The latest … surgery near completion … tons of media …

But still in surgery means they haven’t given up. The surgeon’s quotes in the noon press conference made it sound entirely possible that they’d open him up, say no way, and euthanize him on the table. At least they haven’t done that.

But even if he does make it through this, all the potential things that could go wrong during his recovery just worry me sick. Horses aren’t designed to be immobile and bear weight on three legs. I’m keeping my fingers firmly crossed.

Excellent idea Annika…

Well its after 6 PM I am off to the store, Will be back … Bringing curbchain!!!

Touch and go over the next 24 hours … might have external fixator (rods on outside of leg) …

Jingling Curb Chains…

While we’re waiting, just thought I’d try to answer the question about where jingling a curb chain got started.

From the FAQ Section:

Curb chains: This bit of BB lore arose out of the infamous Question For Merry [”]http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=35696] thread. The California clique decided (tongue in cheek) to form a cult, and decided to beg for money at the airport. But rather than banging tambourines, Merry suggested rattling curb chains.

These days, curb chains are collectively jangled whenever a BBer needs good luck. Make sure to keep one handy! And be sure to request curb jingles from fellow BBers whenever you need them."

This goes back to early 2001.

According to everything we’re covering he ill be weight bearing once he is up. Thats why they are working so hard. Once he is out of the pool, he will be in a padded stall and be expected to bear weight on it.

Now yes he may not put al his weight on it as normal, but do remember how many times we see our horses napping with one hind leg cocked. And horses have survived broken hind legs before. Another one can also. Keep thinking positive guys!!

XCtryGrl, I agree we need to keep the posts to a minimum so that important information like yours stays front and centre, but I would also like to thank you so very much for taking the time to keep us informed.

At times like this, one realizes the true value of the media!

Thank you again!

Adding more huge jingles for the big guy!!
