Suggestions needed for an article: "Not Aged" Very Promising TB Sires of Eventers
Judy Wardrope, the conformation expert from Canada is standing a TB for sport somewhere in the west. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name, but I do know he’s close kin to Sea Accounts. She’s only had him a couple of years and seems to be putting him on top of WB mares. Unfortunately he’s a 1998 model, so aged even if he is new.
Perhaps this stallion?? http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=10141379

Tom, if you want to do the research, there’s a way to search the FEI database for sires if you know a name you want to research. Peaches here figured it out. Here is what I copied from her to search. Go to Google and use this language in the search bar:
site:https://data.fei.org/ “horse name”

You HAVE to put the horse’s name between quotes.

I did Armand that way and got ten pages of results. I didn’t look through all of them, but I did find two fei level horses by him, both Jumpers, IIRC.
Super helpful. Thanks!

Salute The Truth is 20, but hits the other criteria.

Colleen Rutledges young Medaglio D’Oro stallion Deciever (USEA Clever Deception) is not to be overlooked even though he is young and just starting his Prelim career.
Finished in Top Ten YEH Chmps FH 2014’then won the long format Training 3 day a week,or so later and finished his year with 10th first Prelim start.
He brings it All,to,the game and is kind and sweet , in fact most judges were shocked he is intact…I have kept both of my Bernerdinis intact because pedigree aside the gaits mind elegance and athletic abilities are impressive . We need More top, quality good minded correct soundmThoeoughbred stallions out eventing. While we can buy their get off the track some of these bloodlines packaging the right mare stallion combinations need to be available,to,our Sports Horse mares…

Do you mean Bernerdini or Bernardini? I looked for the pedigree but cannot find it.

I believe that JBRP has or has had a couple of Bernardini colts. He’s by A.P. Indy and won the Preakness the year that Barbaro broke down. He was HOY that year and has been a success as a racing sire. Darley has supported him and have placed several of his less than successful sons in non racing homes. I expect him to be a very good event sire but at $85k, he’s not covering sport mares.

What about Musketier? Stands at Calumet. He was a very durable racehorse, but his pedigree isn’t the most fashionable for the TB sales.

Hello Tom, have you already started writing the article? I am very interested in what your findings will be.

not exactly Eventing but a possible nonetheless

interesting find in Poland -TB

Although not being bred for eventing specifically the TB stallion Dance With Ravens has an unusually high number of OTTB offspring turning up in the eventing ranks. http://www.pedigreequery.com/dance+with+ravens

That’s a mare. One of Jan Greve’s herd of TBs. He’s always sponsored TBs as sport horse stallions. Anytime you see a TB with Watermill or Watermoelen, it’s one of Greve’s. Ones like Watermill Swatch and Watermill Rolex and Painter,s Row and Wiliwander and one whose name begins with an A that I forget. None of them have ever gotten much of anything.
I just noticed today that Watermill Swatch has a son entered for Rolex.

Not quite TB-- but what about the Gem Twist clones?
I wouldn’t use him for eventing. Gem was a quirky opinionated bugger. Loved him and one of the best SJ horses ever but he would have HATED dressage (and spooked at the white box just as an excuse to dump his rider), and was too careful of a jumper for xc. Same as many of his relatives.

ABSOLUTELY would use him to breed a Show jumper.

If you’re talking about Watermill Vision, he is KWPN by Namelus R, per the Rolex site.

There is a horse entered at Rolex that I predict will never make it as a International level 4* horse because he lacks the gallop. There was another entered this year who completed Rolex last year, but has a ground pounding gallop.

then who is this: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.php?query_type=horse&h=BVS+WATERMILL+VISION&g=5&cellpadding=0&small_font=1&l=

Watermill Swatch : http://www.kylemorestud.com/index.php/watermill-swatch

Watermill Swatch xx is the first thoroughbred ever to undergo the 70 day test in Ermelo, Holland . He finished with excellent results and was approved. He is a big, blood scopey stallion with a most kind and co operative character. He is beautiful and has 3 wonderful paces with lots of expression. He has competed as a dressage horse and as a show jumper in Holland, following a successful racing career in which he was a winner and placed several times Progeny.

Sire, Mytens, is a jumper producer and a very important sire approved in several studbooks. He sired the international show jumpers Joint Venture, Mynos, Merlin, Ivanhoe, Hytens etc

Dam, Watermill Olymp, was for many years a very reliable race horse. When accessed as a broodmare she received a glowing report from the KWPN. A full brother to Watermill Swatch, called Watermill Rolex, was a group 2 winner and is at present in training with Celle Landbeschaler in Germany.

I just did a site search in the FEI database for Watermill Swatch. He’s represented by one 2007 model born in Holland who competed last year at a CIC1*. First and to date only FEI competition, and he finished 35th.

Watermill Swatch is not found in the FEI database as a competition horse. He’s a 1999 model and has been in Ireland since at least 2008 and started his stud career in 2006 in Holland. He’s approved KWPN but not ISH per Horse Telex. Whatever he’s gotten is really a bit young for much of an international career, but so far not much.

There’s a very impressive Irish eventer named Eric Smiley who has a breeding operation, and he’s used Watermill Swatch several times in the past four years.

Where and when did he win a G2?

I am writing the article now. Thanks to everyone who provided suggestions.
