We used to have so many hummers here. Their numbers have dwindled dramatically, and I miss them fighting over the feeder. The orioles are back this spring, but not in the numbers they used to have. This time of year, the hummers have to wait in line for the orioles to finish drinking the nectar.
I’m sorry you are having rough days. I’ll be glad when you have your consult. Maybe up the quantity of ice cream eaten?
Don’t I know it. At my old house I used to have 6 feeders up, and had swarms of the little darlings. but there were wars a plenty. they are so fun to watch.
Ice cream, Okay. Maybe!
Dropping off the Horse stuff Saturday morning.
I have a few bushes in the back yard that attract hummers and when my slider is open, I can often hear the “verbal” discussions going on
Yup, I have to have multiple feeders up because the Ruby-throats are especially belligerent. I have seen some great arguments.
Sending some good vibes that you have a better day today! If you need sweets let me know, I make great fudge!
Did someone say Fudge?? Oh Yummy!!!
Last night there seemed to be a truce, both males were feeding on the same one.
Well at least for the moment I was looking! I adore those birds, they give me such joy.
Another lovely morning. OK, there are clouds, but there is no snow, and the Orioles are swarming the feeders. I hope this day brings joy and peace to you, Kim.
Did you paint the birdhouse and get it outside yet?
Enjoy your day Kim!
I keep meaning to ask how you mount them, there is nothing on the back and I am not very creative. it is sitting on my inside shelf right now. I also do not know what to use for paint.
sending some extra strength for your Saturday morning …
Jingles & AO & ((hugs))
Go to the hardware store and buy something called a “bear claw”, it comes with two small nails to attach to the bird house. Or you could get an eye hook and hang it with some string. Just cheap acrylic paint from the dollar store would work fine.
Or you can leave it as is and sitting on your inside shelf if you prefer.
Good luck tomorrow, Kim. I imagine it will be very, very heartbreaking to give your horse and riding things away, and it might feel like it represents an end. But think of it as an opportunity to pass your love of horses along to kids who are just beginning their horse journeys, and to the horses and ponies who bring smiles to those kids faces. It’s a beginning that you are helping to create, and your energy will radiate through those kids and horses.
One day soon you may find yourself beginning again, and acquiring new horse things – a new beginning that you can envision, and look forward to.
I wish you peace. Thinking of you.
Diet…smiet!
Embrace your inner hedonism!!!
Hope you have a good day.
I briefly considered fudge but at 100+ temps during the day here (well, cooling down to the 90’s) OP would get a box of melted chocolate by the time the box left the PO
I have solved all the problems of the world, reunited the Korean peninsula peacefully, solved the opioid crisis, eradicated homelessness, eliminated puppy mills… and a host of other problems both large and insignificant to anyone other than me. All while cleaning stalls.
Amazing morning here in the Puget Sound area - clear skies, going to be a hot one (for me). Thinking of you, Kim - and sending out white light and warm fuzzies.
I was dive-bombed by 2 irate hummingbirds this morning up by the first stallion paddock… I think they have set up housekeeping in that large pink rhododendron bush…
Not a problem…if life gives you melted chocolate, add vodka and drink it!
