Confused again. The Chromies are saying that Raul will be in Chicago to greet Chrome. Doesn’t he have to go through quarantine first? This year at Rolex one of the German horses was withdrawn because his personal groom could not be present to care for him during his quarantine before the event. Does the same hold true for a horse that has been abroad and then is returning to the US to stay? Especially if he is intact? How long is this return quarantine going to last? Do they have different rules for race horse grooms than competition horses? Just genuinely curious about this.

There is a new quarantine facility at the Arlington Racetrack. http://ciqord.com/
That’s cool. I think I read that one of the reasons Martin chose Arlington was because of Chrome being able to come into the country through Chicago and being able to quarantine there.
Thanks. I’ve learned a few things today.
You’re welcome. It’s amazing the stuff you learn while trying to avoid doing things around the house while killing time to go see the horse.
Looks like AP has some crazies on his FB page now as well. Talking about Victor’s telepathic bond with him, etc.
I haven’t been over to the BCH FB page for a while.
They’re still stupid ass morons calling Perry Martin names and making up stupid ideas like giving Steve Coburn full control (obviously they failed Business Admin 101 because that’s not how partnerships work, minority owner can’t control 100%). And they’re still going on about him not going to Ascot and trying to make it sound like he’s making up an excuse about his flight but is “patronizing” and wasn’t going to go anyway. Obviously none of them have ever flown on a plane before
That page needs to be shut down and Martin needs to sue for defamation of character. After which, all info about Chrome needs to be pulled, period, and only released through channels like the Bloodhorse, etc. sucks for the good fans, but anything the Martins or Coburns post just gives the whackos more fuel for their fires.

Agree. True good fans will understand and respect that. The sport does not need the other “fans”, they do far more harm than good.
Yes, I don’t know why CC owners allow all of this info out. The crazies will be showing up at their barn soon. Now that CC is coming back to the USA the BCHers are wanting him to go back CA. Social media is so dangerous.
The DAP page has closed their comments to page section. Too many loonies likely.
Sad thing is the CC crazies can’t just keep to the CC FB pages. Some of them are posting pictures of CC on AP’s FB. I just don’t understand why one would do this, other than being batshit crazy.
I’ve been so tempted to post the article about Kauto Star’s accident to prove that turning them out to pasture isn’t necessarily always safe but I don’t think they’d get it.
jvanrens, most likely they would not get it. They posted a pic of CC laying in his stall “all alone”… ok… also his FACE is thin… ok. They are crazy. Feel so bad for the Martins.

Well that was an English pasture. I know from their page that England is bad.
Posted on the Coburn’s Facebook:
We apologize for having to share a range of time for California Chrome’s arrival in Chicago on Tuesday but we’re not sure of the exact time. This is the best information that we have as The Martins have not returned our calls or given us any info.
And why do they think that is? Because they support that BCH administrator posting on their FB page, and allow a horde of know-nothings to continually demean and malign Perry Martin? If I was Martin, I wouldn’t be saying anything either.
Disappointing that they feel a need to play the victim and bring all this ugly stuff out into public view. Rather unprofessional on their part.
I imagine it’s because they don’t want a bunch of fruitcakes showing up at the airport commenting on how thin Chrome’s face is.
So very sad that his has turned into such a mess. With the rise of social media, everyone gets to air their dirty laundry in public. When I read some of the posts on the Bring Chrome Home page, it is a bit unsettling. You have so many people who obviously know nothing about horses or horse racing, but are so sure they know what is best for Chrome. While I may not be a fan of the Martin’s, I can certainly see how they would not want tons of crazy Chrommies waiting at the airport for their horse to arrive.
It seems to most of the people concerned with Chrome that it’s perfectly all right to bitch and moan about Martin–who, by the way, was the person who engineered the breeding of Chrome, placed him with that particular trainer (plus Chrome’s little sis and potentially others), did not change to one of the “fashionable trainers” when everyone realized they had a really good horse, and, I gather, plotted out Chrome’s pre-Derby starts, and gave trainer(s) and partner experiences far beyond anything they had experienced (Dubai and England, not to mention the entire Triple Crown series).
Perhaps Martin is not as friendly and “sharing” as one would wish. I read someplace else that if Chrome had not gone to Dubai and won the 2 million that it would have taken a whole lot of races to accomplish the same thing. I would say that was smart thinking on Martin’s part. And, having been to England in the past, perhaps one of his secret fantasies was having a horse good enough to give it a go at Ascot–and he had it potentially with Chrome. So perhaps he was simply trying to act out a dream.
It seems to me that Sherman’s greatest wish as a trainer was to make Chrome the leading California money winner, and that going to Dubai and England was simply beyond his experience and/or comprehension.
Question: If the training of Chrome had been strictly left to Sherman with no interference, would he have even considered the Triple Crown series with the horse since he is so strictly a California racing trainer? (I don’t really know that much about Sherman and think he did a good job handling him, but how much experience had he had with a really “Big” horse previously?) And–would Chrome have done better/worse if he had been with a trainer like Baffert during his 3-year-old year?
Reports I read and saw said that Martin went to Sherman with Chrome’s pathway to the Derby completely mapped out. I really don’t care whether he’s as available as some people would like. He’s done a great job as far as I can tell, and that’s even more impressive given that he wasn’t a racing insider. People are jerks.
The best way to deal with crazy people like the BCH crowd is usually to just brush them off and not give them the acknowledgement and a attention they crave. Usually. In this case though, I am starting the think a politically correct “shove off” press release/tweet/whatever from the partnership would be a wise move.
Coburn’s silly comments and Martin’s international wild goose chase aside, they have tried very hard to do right by the fans and help the sport. The so called “fans” basically slapped them in the face for trying to share the horse with everyone. It reminds me of the old saying, “give them an inch and they’ll take a mile”. Keep them updated and share pictures of a horse they like and they’ll slander you and your employees and claim the horse is “their horse”.

I don’t know that I would consider that a good thing, or something that flatters the owner.
Which is not to say that I think Martin deserves the bashing he is getting from the BCH folks.
After reading the Coburns FB page today, somebody needs to be taking Steve’s computer away from him. He’s just feeding the stupid lately.
