I agree with that. Don’t air your dirty laundry over the internet.
I can see why Martin is with holding info from the Coburns, they think that the BCH page is fine and that people are entitled to their opinions. Plus they are trying to find a way to get all the nuts into the airport to welcome home Chrome. They’re encouraging the nutty behavior of these so called fans.
Agreed. It is almost is if Coburn is enjoying fanning the crazy flames. That kind of nonsense just makes the Dumb Ass in Dumb Ass Partners ring true.
BCH had another uneducated statement claiming the horses are being shipped in the baggage compartment of a commercial airline lol. They’re also saying it’s because Martin is being so cheap to fly him home properly in their minds. I guess he should of bought Chrome a first class ticket lol!
Sad but not totally unpredictable. The DAP are a victim of their own success. If California Chrome was merely a nice horse who won a few races out west, these guys would probably still be friends but their bargain basement baby turned out to win a string of graded stakes, 2/3rds of the Triple Crown and over six million dollars. Now they’re clearly at odds with each other over his future with dueling web pages and out of control fans serving as sort of a Greek chorus. If Coburn, along with Sherman, really believes that Martin’s desire to see California Chrome race at Ascot is detrimental to his investment of both money and emotion in the horse then I guess I can understand his attitude. Bottom line, make sure when you go into business with someone, make sure you know what you’re getting into.
I wonder what some of those people would say if they knew horses ship via FedEx too.
Are Martin and Coburn still going to be partners on Chrome’s siblings? Just wondering about that since it sounds like things aren’t good between them anymore.
Further proof the morons don’t know a fetlock from a forelock.
I got banned from their page lol. I guess they didn’t like it when I told them he wasn’t flying in the baggage compartment and the Sheikhs plane uses boxes just like how he’s flying now lol. Oh well
speaking of fetlocks (kinda):

Of course a hoof picture hit facebook with everybody going on about how it’s the worst shoe job they’ve ever seen.
(not that I love his heels and all that, but I’ve sure seen far worse, and they’ve looked like that all along, but of course it’s the fault of those horrible people in england I’m sure…)

I don’t know that I would consider that a good thing, or something that flatters the owner.
Which is not to say that I think Martin deserves the bashing he is getting from the BCH folks.[/QUOTE]
It means that unlike many owners who must be completely dependent on their trainers, he educated himself so he could come up with a plan. I don’t think anyone could argue that his plan was bad: he took a stud colt with a so-so pedigree and came pretty close to capturing the Triple Crown.

The partnership owns the mare and her foal/yearling/two yo as well as Chrome.
Martin and Coburn weren’t friends initially - they knew each other only as members of the small syndicate that originally owned Love the Chase. They formed the partnership when they decided to buy the mare from the syndicate when the syndicate no longer wanted her.
If that colt breaks down one of those clowns will shoot the trainer. They are scary.
I guess a lameness was a fortunate occurence if you wanted a horse NOT to run in a race.
^ More conspiracy theories?
Well, The Coburns FB page seems to run the same way as the BCH one - that is unless you are a giddy, gushing Chromie, you can get blocked for merely stating obvious horse sense issues - or, GOD FORBID - pointing out that telling many Chromies where and when CC was arriving in Chicago was likely not a good idea. Many of those idiots seemed to think that they could be on the tarmac to greet CC and maybe kiss him on his nose. Why? Because he is THEIR horse. IMO Coburns are carrying on just like Steve did after the Belmont with his tirade about cheaters and cowards - and they are just stoking the fire that is lit under the crazies…
double
Sorry about that - that certainly did not need to be said twice…

One needn’t be dependent on their trainer to be wise enough to know that the trainer ought to be the one devising the plan, inasmuch as a plan can be devised. If you think you need to map it out for your trainer, move your horse. I doubt very much Art Sherman needed his help.
Communication is a good thing. Feeling like you can have ideas and make suggestions to your trainer is a good thing. Art Sherman was kind enough to flatter his owner by making statements that now other people have taken and run with. That is neither the fault of the owner or the trainer, but let’s not make it into something grander than it really is. As for his plan-- he got really, really lucky. See how often that plan works in the future (for anyone, including a trainer!).
My point is simply that the patting on the back for the plan probably isn’t warranted. Any of us can map out a plan to get a horse to the Derby; I can do it, you can do it. Lots of people with half a clue can do it. It takes the horse and a good team-- and a lot of luck-- to make it happen. Mostly the horse, and good luck.
i don’t know if the admin of the Bring Chrome Home page is willfully ignorant or just stupid to begin with, but comparing a Tex-Sutton domestic flight with an international flight is just incredibly batguano insane. Especially if one looks at the provided pictures that shows he was not flying in “the bottom cargo half of the plane”.
They are upset that he was in a “crate” and a horrid “metal box” - and that Martin shipped him that way because he is “greedy” and “cheap”.
Well, DUH - they need a major reality check! All horses - not matter how $$$$$$$$$$$ - travel in pallets overseas like that - for the safety of all involved.
But not their dear Chrome - do they not realize that he went TO Dubai in one of those “metal boxes” - the same as the other 14 Thoroughbreds he flew with? Since when is KLM shipping horses “cheap”? Their fantasy world frustrates me…
From BCH:
The article shows how most “VIP” horses travel. btw - don’t comment about how your horse travels, YOUR horse is not CALIFORNIA CHROME, this is about an American Hero, The most famous horse on earth, Kentucky Derby & Preakness winner, Horse of the Year, & how he should be traveling.
 Riiiiiiiiiiiight. I think there’s a horse out there who’s probably even more famous, who not only won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, he also won the Belmont. And if he flew internationally, he’d fly the same way they all do.
They’re so hung up in their little tiny world where only California Chrome matters. Whatever will they do when he retires.
