The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

I was banned a long time ago. It’s probably a good thing that nobody pointed out that if a horse gets upset during a flight and causes a ruckus he gets put down–that would have caused a lot of extra travail and hand wringing.

I gather that he is safe and sound and in quarantine by now. Are his “people” allowed to minister to his fragile self while in quarantine or must they wait until he is released?

Blaming the Brits

Thanks for linking to the story on my blog. Writing this story has been quite an eye-opener for me and I think that the people I interviewed in Newmarket were being sincere and generous with information. This horse does seem to have a charisma that makes people want to help him.

If people share information with the best intentions and then get rocks thrown at them, they and others will be afraid to share in the future. Is that what people want? I just hate to see what is going on.

Although the BBC piece on Laura Collett today made me realize that it can get even worse! Much worse.

Thanks again.

speaking of fetlocks (kinda):

http://hoofcare.blogspot.com/2015/07/california-chrome-newmarket-farrier-bar-shoe-nails.html

Of course a hoof picture hit facebook with everybody going on about how it’s the worst shoe job they’ve ever seen.

(not that I love his heels and all that, but I’ve sure seen far worse, and they’ve looked like that all along, but of course it’s the fault of those horrible people in england I’m sure…)
This is one of the few times (I do miss family photographs) that I wish I could see “face book”.
I suppose I should be ashamed of myself. This seems rather like wanting to look at a car accident or watching one of those horrific t.v. shows that make entertainment out of peoples psychiatric disorders, neither of which I do.

I take comfort in the supposition that the crazies have always been with us but now, due to technology, they have a platform from which to broadcast their silliness. In other words, back in the day, if they weren’t your neighbors, friends or relatives, they would go unnoticed.

One can only hope that these people, with their hysterical mentalities, are as mentally disorganized as they seem to be (and thus unlikely to do actual harm to the horse or his connections).

Whenever I feel like wasting a few minutes of my life that I don’t ever want back I go read the BCH comments. Ugh. It’s like a train wreck that you just can’t look away from.

Tbh I’m worried about Chrome being in Chicago because there’s so much gang violence there. I feel like he could get caught up with the wrong crowd, and, boom, he’s in jail, or worse. No offense to anyone from Illinois btw

Bahahaha! I’m assuming (hoping) that comment is meant to be satirical, but $5 says some nutcase runs with it.
It means that unlike many owners who must be completely dependent on their trainers, he educated himself so he could come up with a plan. I don’t think anyone could argue that his plan was bad: he took a stud colt with a so-so pedigree and came pretty close to capturing the Triple Crown.
Countless other owners have tried the exact same thing Perry Martin did with CC and failed. The only difference between them and PM is PM was luckier. He basically won the horse lottery with CC.

Anyone that has been training for any length of time has been approached by at least one owner with a horse they believe is “the one” along with their own plan for it.

I notice I got banned too  The last response I got was something like “Prove to me that he didn’t stay trapped in a metal crate for 20+ hours!!!” Because clearly you can’t prove that.

It wouldn’t be so hard to do some research, but nooooo. Some people just looove to believe whatever they hear. Someone said “don’t argue with crazy” but sometimes I just.can’t.help.it. Damn is it funny and sad at the same time.

I got banned too for saying Martin should sue the pants off the creator of that page… those people are complete loons… We should start a “Ban the BCH page” fb page…

I was thinking the same thing about their lack of research, haha.

They apparently all have access to Facebook but not Google, because it wouldn’t take up more than five minutes to figure out how and horses are shipped and WHY they are shipped that way… But they’re obviously a very special variety of stupid, perhaps they expected him to fly American Airlines, in the cabin, surrounded by his “family” of people.

I’m not about to post anything on any CC-related FB page because of all the nutballs around him (owners/handlers included, apparently from what I’m reading in this thread  ), BUT I will say he struck me as a bit underweight and dull-coated in this video of his arriving at Arlington today. The CC page had the DER! to actually say “How does he look?” in the description. Way to bait the crazies. Thankfully at this time I just saw one “He looks a bit thin” and other posts more or less positively expressing hope he ate up and returned to form. They are probably deleting out the OMG! posts like mad, though. I do not envy them that moderating job.

People were complaining about this? I though it was a great article and demonstrated the sort of care, from high end professionals, the horse got in England.

I guess I must be banned too because I can’t comment on anything. I thought you couldn’t see a page at all if you were banned but what do I know? My favorite comment recently was in response to one of my FB friend’s comment about that being how all horses are shipped by air and whoever speaks for that page said “No, that is not how all horses are shipped by air but your head is too far up Martin’s ass to know that!” Uh what? Honestly, what did they want him to do, rent a whole cargo plane and bed the fuselage down so he could get some exercise or rest as he decided?

I think you likely got banned after your last common sense post Laurie. Not allowed there! LOL

And their latest meme type picture:

Thank you Rae Guest Stables for making me as comfortable as you knew how. It wasn’t a good situation for either of us. It was a bad decision for Mr Martin to send me to England, I’m not like the other horses. I can’t be left all alone, away from my family and friends. It made me too sad.

Thank you & Cheerio England!

I’m wondering if Rae Guest had a party planned for after CC left?

Laurie we’re just banned from commenting on their posts. They think that the sheikhs plane is horse heaven. Truly first class luxury like actual stalls bedded down etc… What they refuse to acknowledge is that horses are in 2 stall boxes, are loaded after everything else like atvs, feed, tv’s, anything else they bought, then the horse boxes are loaded. Hardly luxury. Normally when they use that plane there’s 150-200 horses on that plane.

But what do any of us know and we must be stupid, mean, and cheap like Martin lol.

“No, that is not how all horses are shipped by air but your head is too far up Martin’s ass to know that!”

Dying! That’s priceless! Don’t mess with the experts, Laurierace. THEY KNOW ALL. I get such a kick out of them refusing to understand that there is no such thing as “horse first class”. My last post mentioned to them that ALL top class horses travel this way, but Chrome is not “all top class horses” lol. Clearly they wanted him seated in first class, feet kicked up with some champagne in hoof, eating lobster and watching the latest releases. That’s how America’s Horse travels.

I keep going back to read the crazy, and then I get so angry at the stupidity… DH keeps being like, “I told you not to look, now you’re mad.” LOL.

Seems like the Coburns are egging these crazies on based on their personal FB page. Not surprising based on last years pouting and rant after the Belmont loss. I wonder what Sherman really thinks about all this. I feel so sorry for Martin. Anyone on the racing scene know the real deal with CC’s connections?

The Sherman’s run one of CC’s facebook pages and are often the ones posting on the pages. People are already after them threatening them because Chrome “looks skinny”.

It would be in the best interest of all if they just deleted all facebook pages regarding the horse and move on with their lives. Let the haters hate elsewhere.

I think these “fans” are skating pretty close to the line between harmlessly crazy and dangerously crazy. If anything untoward were to happen, I could see a lot of them tipping over that line. After all, wasn’t it a fan who shot John Lennon?

They are getting scarier and scarier, IMO.

Yes, I would think they would want to delete the stuff as well. Not sure why they update so often, feeding the frenzy. Worrisome that they are all talking about visiting after he’s at stud. On the upside, many seem to think he is in CA not Chicago.

I am going to strangle LauraKY for telling me about that page.

I thought the FOBs were nuts but this is taking it to a whole new level.

I’m sure I’ll be banned for supporting another person who was trying to logically explain how horses travel by air…
