I find that picture with the thank you to Rae Guest so horrendous that words can’t describe it. Makes me want to reach through the internet and slap more than a few faces.
I was also banned from the page for trying to explain how it works when horses are flown internationally. I guess they could not bear the thought of Chrome being “just another horse who flies” and that he should have been right up there in first class. I also agree with betonbill that the picture with the Rae Guest “thank you” is pretty creepy. These people really can be quite scarry.
Im still not convinced that the whole thing isn’t some elaborate pisstake.
The Coburn’s page is not much better in fairness. Why they don’t come out with a strongly worded statement against the Bs on the other page says a lot about the Coburns.
The DAP page, which i presume is run by the Martins, made some attempt to come across as professional.
The plain California Chrome page is run by one of the Shermans… art’s granddaughter I think.
But yeah, looks like the Coburns are feeding the frenzy. I don’t think they have the slightest idea of how insane this brand of fan can get.
I don’t think the Coburns are very smart, someone here who knows them personally can correct me, but they seem totally unprofessional and pretty clueless. Agreed that they don’t seem to understand what they are dealing with here. Hope this does not end with a crazed BCHer doing something insane.
That whole FB page is a trainwreck that I’m drawn to like a moth to the flame. You gotta love the crazies who think they are communicating with Chrome telepathically! And these people reproduce, vote, etc…

I just saw something that I find disturbing. RUFFIAN apparently has a facebook page that she posts on and she is a fan of California Chrome. She commented on one of the Coburns posts and I had to click on her to see what the heck that page was. That to me is creepy. And stupid.

See, that makes me wonder if they are really all that interested in horse racing. Same thing with the comments Coburn made about fresh horses in the Belmont. If he had been following racing for more than a year or two, he would have already known that there are always fresh horses in the Belmont. Sometimes he really seems like an amateur and like he doesn’t know that much about the sport (even as a fan).
Regarding the BCH page, shouldn’t it be shut down now that Chrome has come back home? :lol:
It’s going to go on and on and on ad nauseum. They’ll just change the name now that he’s back in the US of A.

I was thinking the same thing just earlier today. With a growing cult of “fans” like the ones he has here, I’m beginning to think Japan may the best place for California Chrome.
This was posted by someone on the Coburns page in response to their comment regarding how CC needs to gain 150 pounds:

And was followed by this response from the Coburns;

To me, as stated by others, this really makes it seem that they fan the crazy. I have never liked them, based solely on any and all the interviews I have seen of them, but I am really starting to dislike them. I feel like they have been offended by something Martin has done and they have their panties in a wad and are now out there trying to turn people against him. It would be nice if they would act mature and attempt to put an end to all of it. And maybe to defend their business partner a bit. Too bad Martin doesn’t just buy them out.
^ I saw the same comment and think the same thing. The Coburns make it sound like THEY don’t believe he’s getting the care he’s due to either. It makes me wonder how much time they spend near horses at all. Yeah, when they announce he’s headed to Japan (the entire reason he was sent abroad at all, if they did their research), those people will go crazy. I can imagine them trying to buy him with their piggy banks and tears, and getting angry when it doesn’t work, because his unfeeling owner is sending him off to be an international sex slave . Nevermind that Empire Maker, Silver Charm, and many more are doing well/did well. They aren’t America’s Horse!!! Too bad nobody has a telepathic link with Silver Charm so he could set them straight. CC got sick of that crap and rerouted his telepathic link so it would connect to Coburn instead.
Edit: I’d also like to see them handle CC on their own. By all accounts he seems kind, but he’s still a Thoroughbred stallion. That cute image of them caring for their telepathic pony friend on a pretty little farmette (with Raul of course) would be ruined in a split second.
Not to mention that if he goes to Japan he’ll be SLAUGHTERED and EATEN.
Gotta love the chromies! The Coburns had posted pics of Tough Sunday’s race and people were excited to see chrome do so well or asked if that was his sister. When they were told again who it was, they said oh no wonder it looked like a different horse. Wow…
It’s sort of a relief that things seem to have calmed down somewhat due to Chrome being back with his fambly. For a while there I was visualizing one of the crazier of the Chromies receiving a message from Chrome that he needed to be free of his distasteful owner (Martin) and them actually trying to do something.
As to his weight, now that he’s back in the USA he’ll probably be restarted on his normal regimen of supplements plus (probably) alfalfa hay that he most likely didn’t get in England. I wonder if he was on a more or less water, oats, and hay regimen there.
When AP paraded at Santa Anita there was one shot of him without a saddle and he looked just as lean and mean as Chrome did in England where you could see rib outlines, etc.
