The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

I just went over to BCH and read some comments. Apparently, sending him to stand at Taylor Made is the same thing as sending him to the slaughterhouse. Where on earth do they get that Taylor Made is a bad farm? Where do they want this horse to go? I just don’t get it.

They want him to go back to the Harris farm so he can be with his mommy, daddy, and siblings. When the Coburns posted that video of C.C. walking by L.P. and made the comments about how daddy’s excited to see him, people believed that was true. Although from horse peoples perspective L.P. was looking to tear his ass up if he could get to him lol.

Plus those dummies think he can be turned out with his daddy and mommy and that they would be one big happy family. Sigh, they say people are getting smarter. I don’t see it.

I had one of my horses home from the track years ago for some downtime and I actually had people ask me if I was going to turn him out with his mom and suckling sister. He was still a colt at the time no less. Yeah, that would have ended well.

I don’t think we know for sure that he will be standing there. He could be laid up there or sales prepping. I think those loonies won’t be happy until he is home with mommy and daddy.

Been following quietly and have been tempted to go over there just to be banned.
But I have two things, a question and a comment:

  1. For those of you in the know, is an inflamed cannon bone just another way of saying we caught an “almost” shinbuck?

  2. This would be one he!! of a different sorta’ horse movie. But the trouble right now is that we don’t know how it ends…

Wherever he goes, I hope they clamp a lid on info. I anticipate mass hysteria when they find out that Raul cannot accompany him on his R&R.

And yes, I would also like a better interpretation of “inflamed cannon bone.”

It does not take much to get blocked there. Simply state common sense/horse sense - and that will do it. The crazies can spew whatever nonsense they want, however. Such as fretting about CC being a steeplechaser in cruel nasty England, or being shipped in a cruel crate and not first class as America’s Horse deserves. Or fretting about lip chains as they KNOW he does not need one and is an angel… or that he needs to go back to Harris Farm to eat Skittles and poop rainbows for the rest of his life - because he is THEIR horse. They occasionally suggest pooling money to buy out Martin or send CC to Los Al or whatever. I also got blocked from Coburns page for suggesting that they be more professional, not fan the crazy flames (which they foolishly love to do) - and hinting that the BCH page was either run by them or a close friend… my bad.

Maybe they should send him up here to Pegasus in WA for rehab - it is good enough for Shared Belief. Harder for psychotic crazies to get info that way…

ETA: Oh for God’s sake… some of the new comments at BCH are beyond bizarre… this is re sending CC to Taylor Made…

I firmly believe they Coburns are going to completely buy CC. They are looking for another investor. CC IS TOO valuable to end up at some slaughter house . I won’t even think about it. God will make things right. Too many people in the horse racing industry love this horse. It will not happened. They should send Martin & Denise there to see how they get for themselves. They would put away for free!! The horse racing industry needs to get involved now. They need to oust
The poor of an excuse of an human being plus his hideous wife banned them for life and make him sell his portion of the remaining horses. He should be charged with animal cruelty!!! Never allowed to step foot on any racetrack again.!!

And again, demands that he be sent back to Harris Farm in CA…

I completely agree that he needs the emotional healing as much as he needs to heal physically. If a horse feels safe, loved and are surrounded by people who love him he will heal much faster then without. California is his ONLY home due to the fact that is where his true owners and care takers are.

Countered with some common sense that will soon get deleted and edited….

He hasn’t spent significant time there since he was very young. Home is where top class care is. Why bother moving him if he’s retiring to Kentucky anyway? It’ll be his home.

SMH.

If I’m not mistaken, isn’t Pegasus run by the son of the man who had Woods Creek Training Center? That’s where my ~one~ race horse trained back in the 70’s. I understand that the son got the Pegasus center started after his father passed. Or do I stand corrected?

Are you the Danielle responding sanely to things over there? I saw that and wondered how there was someone making sense.

What’s with their panic about not getting “the best” vet treatment? If it is just a bone bruise, what do they think needs done? Mine bruised her coffin bone, and after diagnosis, the only “treatment” she needed was a padded shoe and stall rest. It’s not like he needs to spend 8 weeks at the Mayo clinic to treat some obscure infection or something. He needs, presumably, a few months of stall rest. So, layup farm makes a whole lotta sense, to sane folks.

Thank you all for keeping this thread going, I check it daily for updates on the cray cray. It makes for an entertaining workday break.

“Bone bruise” can be “we don’t want to talk about it” code for a lot of things or it can be a bone bruise they don’t want to turn into something worse so a long layup is in order (one of our horses is being given time off for one, Palace Malice was out for a year and almost retired because of one.)

And it sucks to be a minority partner because majority rules, but that’s kinda the deal when you’re in a percentage partnership.

Bertha Alice Galvan California Chrome is not going there!!! How can Kentucky derby & Preakness champion be sent there?? No way!! This horse is too valuable to end up there. I am thinking CC IS really really hurt!! No chance for improvement. Martin did it to himself!!! He took down our champion .

facepalm

Can Bertha be any stupider? I like to go look at people’s profile pages after they make inane know-nothing comments and usually find they’re dumpy old ladies with cats or something (no offense to anyone here who might be) making comments because they’re clueless and believe in rainbow butterfly farts from magikal unicorn butts, and that because they’re “animal-lovers” it makes them an expert on horses when the closet thing they got to a horse was watching it on TV.

I get that racing needs fans, but when it attracts looney toonies like above, sheesh! Does more harm than good.

No - my common sense was banned/blocked a while ago. Danielle will end up getting the same treatment.

Here is Pegasus’ website… I have toured there more than once - fabulous place. I have a pic somewhere of me and Blind Luck - taken at her open house there a few years ago…

True - but the way Coburns have been carrying on in such an unprofessional manner, they are not a better option IMO….

I agree that bone bruise is a code word but it connotes something much more sinister than an almost shin buck. Smarty retired from it and was said to be sore on it for years.

Oh my… one face book fan asked if “Smitty” (C.C.'s full brother) is a quarter horse.

It’s interesting to see the page as I am not “on” face book.

People are so strange and I agree, some of them are frightening in their hysteria. I had a look at the Taylor Made web site. It looks lovely.

The Coburns should re-think and stop with the public self pity. Very tacky.

Interesting that the horse was walking sound and the injury only presented itself upon x-ray. Whatever it is , it’s nice that they caught it.

I have been to Taylor Made. I visited a few years ago and went on a tour. I thought it was a really nice place.

Regarding bone bruises, how do they happen? Can they happen just from the wear and tear of daily training? Or would it be a knock to the bone or some other specific trauma that would cause it? Just curious because I hear about racehorses getting bone bruises occasionally and I have heard of other athletes (like pro tennis players) getting them too.

Taylor Made is a very lovely showplace indeed. I’ve been there twice, once before the Breeders’ Cup in 2011 when it was drizzling, and they brought the stallions out and let people pose with them. I don’t know if Unbridled Song just didn’t like being out or if he took a dislike to my hideously turquoise jacket, but the glare! It was very nice though because they brought us (it was like s miniature convoy of cars from almost everyone that had been on the tour) back to one of the barns where some mares were being prepped for the November sales and we got to see them. we also got to peek out at a mare out in the pasture, it was none other than Evening Jewel.

Going back 6 months later, just my friend and me on a nicer sunny day was also a treat.

As far as the whole nurse mare junk that Carrie twit on BCH was trying to accuse them of, she is on Facebook already, it’s the highlight of laziness not to visit Taylor Made’s page and see the pictures of the 2015 foals WITH their dams, including mares like Pepper’s Pride, Evening Jewel and Joyful Victory. Blows the nurse mare crap out of the water.

I can’t speak to what may or may not being going on with CC’s bone bruise, but at least in my horse’s case (an OTTB), it was a case of thin soles and some kind of concussion, our best guess being stepping on a rock just wrong while goofing off in turnout. Just one of those things. It took more than an x-ray to diagnose, though, we had to do an MRI to confirm coffin bone bruise, though that may just be because it’s an internal structure to the foot and the imagine is more difficult. Per the vets I worked with (Morven), it’s not a terrible thing, heals up well, just takes a lot of resting it.

Most athletes have a lot of strain and concussion on joints and bones, so it doesn’t seem that unusual of an injury, IMVHO. Just let the horse retire to one of the palatial breeding farms in KY, hang out and rehab, and be ready for spring breeding season. Doesn’t seem to warrant so much drama to me.

But Laurierace, all throughout history, monarchies have kept the royal blood in the family thru incest. Wouldn’t surprise me if the crazies demanded it for “their” CC to avoid contaminating such pure blood if they read any ancient (and more modern) history. Don’t give them any ideas.

You turn a colt out with a mare with a foal by her side, someone isn’t getting out of there alive, but that doesn’t read like a Hallmark card.

And apparently the only vets who are worth anything are the ones who “tried to save Barbaro.”
