The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

I really doubt anybody could pull off a Marathon scam as happened in NYC before the explosion of social media and hand held devices capable of recording images.

I think some if these people live in an alternative reality of their own creation, liking their internet world and self better then the IRL alternative.

Thats why I really tend to avoid FB and YouTube browsing without a specific reason. Almost upsetting the way they trash IRL events and people based on their alternative scenarios. Sick.

Even see it on here sometimes, somebody posts a link with little or no info and people invent whole, drama filled back stories about the horse and rider based on absolutely nothing…and believe they are right. Scary.

He did get a nasty grab on a hind heel coming out of the gate, stepped on by horse next to him.

Chrome is a good horse. Pharoah is a great horse.

My favorite comment was how the Martins may keep him over seas to use him as an international sex slave just to make money. The frightening thing is these people are walking among us!!!

Oh I see - the geography is abit off! http://coolmore.com/america/

I see - Kentucky has moved !

Perhaps they all are sex slaves since we arrange who and when to breed them to? Somehow that crackpot remark insults the effort to deal with real sex trafficking.

Like I said, alternative reality.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him in the BC Classic but…if he doesn’t win? Look for the black helicopters.

Glad his new management is making smart decisions for him, wonder which farm will stand him? No mistake, he’s a very nice horse. Whether he or AP make great sires, who knows. Depends on who they service. And luck.

I wonder if AP will get his own set of crazies now that he has won the Triple Crown and is a superstar. I think the video footage of him looking so handsome and sweet will also get him some more fans.

I haven’t been to the Bring Chrome Home page, but are they upset that AP did what Chrome couldn’t do? Are there conspiracy theories flying around?

I’m also curious to know if there has been any comment from Steve Coburn. I did a couple of Google searches for this but couldn’t find anything.

Coburn’s page
https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Coburns-of-California-Chrome/835957533118488?fref=nf

I’ve run into a few here and there. Noticed a couple of the “OMG he looks so tired what are they doing?” types posting on AP pictures before the belmont, I’m sure they’ll be out in force to criticize every single future move they make.

Jeesh, what could he say after last years diatribe about how impossible the TC is. Maybe he’s playing dead since he said he’d be dead before it happened again.

You really should tiptoe over to the Bring Chrome Home page for a peek. That’s the face of the horse community in this country for some. It’s an eye opener, not to mention jaw droppingly ignorant woo woo.

I don’t think AP is going to generate the kind of fanaticism CC has. No rags to riches story, no publically sparring, sometimes embarrassing owners. No, AP is pretty much royalty, his future is already mapped out and his connections have been nothing but caring and classy.

Dont see see even the most fanatic getting a psychic message from AP saying he needs them to protect him and rescue him from a sad fate like some of the chromies seem to have channeled or whatever they do under their crystals.

I’m finding all this stuff really depressing. The haters of racing are unbelievable. Yes the CC crowd is crazy too - at least they seem to be ok with horse racing/horse sports in general. The haters think all horse sports should be done away with.
Yes the comment about sex slaves is ridiculous…

Here’s some real crazy as well.
Downright depressing.

I have no dog in this fight - and I do think the “bring him home” fans are a bit well, fanatical.

I did google search California Chrome images from this last week, vs. last year.

And he does appear a bit thinner, and a bit more tucked up.

More recent, another photo from England.

verses a year ago. (here, here and here as well).

But gosh… if I had a race horse - I think I would rather have him training in places like THIS than this…

You know the horses don’t live or train in the parking lot, right?

Please - point me to the long rolling gallops through forests and bucolic pastures that are enjoyed by american race horses. They don’t ALL train at Fairhill do they?

Many of the CA training facilities are in desert communities - and the horses train on a track - not through the woods.

Where did I say that all racehorses in America train in the woods??? I simply pointed out the picture you provided of where you think all American horses live was inaccurate. They do not live or train in the parking lot at Santa Anita. A visit to a few training centers would really blow your mind… Yes, even in the dry parts of California.

Something a lot of people don’t seem to understand is that quality care and attention is far more important than a fancy facility.

The jury is still out on whether or not training in the woods is “better” for the racehorses (that race on, ya know, tracks, not trails) or more effective. It does make for some pretty pictures. IMO, overtraining is overtraining no matter what surface or setting you do it on/in, and I saw a lot of overtraining, along with a love of unnecessary things and fancy tack and gadgets when I spent time in Europe. I’m not saying CC is being over trained, while I do think the whole England thing is stupid (even if he wins I still think it’s stupid) but I don’t think the horse cares either way.

Ehhhh…now that people are willing to overlook Zayat’s sore-loser attitude about Mine That Bird, and his legal troubles seem to be going away.

And while I think they’re both pretty, Chrome is red with chrome and that always sells. The only way a horse could be a better color for prime time would be an actual Black Stallion clone (yes, SB is black-ish or so dark bay it might as well be, but he’s more cute than gorgeous.) I like AP, but in large part because he reminds me of my horse–same red bay, big eyes, not the most refined head ever but not coarse (or pig-eyed like Dortmund.)

I read on one of the Chrome pages that the plan is to ship him directly to Arlington from England. Who’s going to be the trainer there? Don’t think the Shermans move around so much.

So, is he going to be missing his England grooms PLUS Raul and company?

Poor Chromies. This may be too much for them to bear.

I say give it time. American Pharoah will soon develop his own bunch of groupies. He may not be as flashy as Chrome but he is a very sweet horse and any little equine obsessed little (or not so little) girl could imagine herself combing his forelock and whispering sweet nothings in his ear.

I’m waiting for an AP vs CC showdown at the Breeders Cup, then off to the breeding shed for both of them and then, Oh God! Imagine the craziness that would ensue if there was ever an American Pharoah-Zenyatta baby. Or worse, a California Chrome–Zenyatta foal.

Talk about he marriage of the obsessed fans.
