The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

Can you imagine what TM thought when they heard that person down the line almost threaten them about Chrome’s travel? Whatever possessed them? Who does that? I insist, that’s not ‘a fan’ – don’t know what it is, but it’s not a ‘fan.’ No way. A fan enjoys their object of interest, isn’t made miserable by it.

Hmmm… Obsessive fanatic is more like it.

The BCH folks are actually fulfilling the definition of “fan” (which is after all, short for fanatic) to a T.
The definition of fanatic is, as of this day and age; excessive zeal, extreme unreasoning enthusiasm, intense uncritical devotion etc…etc…

These people are, in the truest sense of the word, fanatics.

My sympathies to CC’s owners, especially Taylor Made, who’s lot it seems, is to handle the fanatics.

Hopefully after T.M. realizes what nutjobs they are dealing with (and that these people are disturbed and are not going away) they will be able to draw the line somewhere, not cave in to the whackos and just say “sorry, we don’t play that”.

It really doesn’t matter that the horse is “famous”. No one should have to deal with this level of crazy.

If the BCHrs fixated on someone else’s horse to this extent, a restraining order may have been available after the first phone call.

I don’t get it. What’s so special and wonderful about CC? He looks like any other racehorse to me, and it’s not like he has an impressive pedigree or stellar race record.

If I had to venture a guess, it probably would be because of DAP Racing. Two ‘ordinary’ guys who ended up with a Derby/Preakness winner for not very much investment. And then while the majority owner was more of a background sorta guy, the minority owner was out there trying to play media darling while soused and it comes across as maybe “quaint” or there’s people out there who feel they can connect to that sort of thing.

I think it has since evolved into a plain and simple “hate the Martins, Taylor Made, or anybody else that is involved with them.” Of course, this was mainly instigated by the Coburns, who whined and complained that Martin didn’t “love them anymore” and was a cad who didn’t reply to them. And with all of the horrible things that the Coburns said and inferred about Martin and the partnership, I think that they played with the masses to gain sympathy to their side.

As far as Martin and company go, I don’t believe he/they ever said anything bad in reply. Perhaps being ignored was the cruelest cut at all to the Coburns and also by the Chromies. Any action taken by the owners at this point is automatically bad, cruel, and inhumane just because of who instigated it.

I still say that they make the FOBs seem 100% normal in comparison.

And, BTW, I had no idea that The Bloodhorse had a FB page. Learning something new every day.

I wasn’t aware of the FB page either, and I couldn’t help laughing out loud until I almost doubled over with stomach cramps at some of the posts with captions. The ‘nerve’ it struck with me was my funny bone. Hilarious!

I agree that I find it strange how they refuse to learn anything. Still sticking to some Disney belief that the plane to fly CC is some majical barn with wings instead of a large international CARGO plane that is loaded with what basically are boxes with stall dividers that can be configured into different stall set ups. Maybe he should have really gone the Disney route and took a flying carpet?
I think a great deal of it is the anthropomorphic beliefs these people have. I would guess if they have pets they are not very well trained. The type who have an excuse for Poopsys bad behavior and give Poopsy treats when he barks and tries to bite at the mailman.
Full disclaimer I anthromorph my own animals but it is tongue and cheek and I don’t really believe it!

Yep. This entirely.

And with all of the horrible things that the Coburns said and inferred about Martin and the partnership, I think that they played with the masses to gain sympathy to their side.

I absolutely believe they played on people’s sympathy to act like the poor downtrodden minor owners who were more than happy to swan it up for the media and enjoy the fruits of their 30% investment, but once it became apparent the fairy tale was over, it was time to oh-boo-hoo-hoo about not being “told about anything” and whipping up the mass outrage by pretending ignorance over their business decisions which should have remained private that were instead being made public – by them! The way Carolyn babbles on on FB, if I were Mr. Martin, I’d sure as hell keep my mouth shut and not talk to them at all either. That nonsense about “America’s Horse” does not mean that every Tom, Dick and Harriet needs to know what this horse last ate for breakfast, and how much he pooped at night.

Even to this day, there’s fanatics out there who insist that the Coburns are Chrome’s “true” owners (completely ignoring the fact that they sold out, and if it was to “save his life” … how does selling out work exactly when he’s still doing what he was doing in the first place, and that’s being a racehorse?) and that they “raised” him (because you know, Harris Ranch was just the help and everyone knows feeding Ms Pastures (a.k.a. pony crack) cookies every now and then is the mark of bringing up baby right.

I wasn’t aware of the FB page either, and I couldn’t help laughing out loud until I almost doubled over with stomach cramps at some of the posts with captions. The ‘nerve’ it struck with me was my funny bone. Hilarious!

My Boromir tiny violin photo comment is gone. But probably because whoever manages the BH FB page deleted that entire section of comments (including JJ Melton’s frothy off-the-rails-whingefest) so I can see why that happened. At least my Toy Story photo comment is still there.

I just commented to someone this morning who was saying that he “didn’t do too well last trip”. Uh, do those idiots fail to realize that if Prince Bishop wasn’t in the race, Chrome would have been the friggin winner? And that what happened in England was just freak accident, and he’d live to fight another day? Would they rather he were standing in a stall 23/7? Los Al is quaint, but it’s not exactly the Ritz Carlton.

The initial thing was probably that his pedigree’s unimpressive–really, there’s nothing interesting to the casual viewer about Super-Expensive Blue Blood Stallion sires foal out of Super-Expensive Blue Blood mare. That’s the character fiction trains us to root against. (Unless one of the “parents” is someone whom the public loved themselves–the interest in Zenyatta’s so-far-unremarkable offspring, the fanatic hopes for Jess’s Dream.) People want to see the ‘working-class’ winner.

Also, he’s pretty. People like big red horse with ‘chrome.’ There’s a reason those sell for more to non-racing homes.

And I’d like a horse with that non-stellar record and who’s still racing at five. To the majority of casual viewers and non-racing horse people the Derby is IT, the big one.

Why the CRAZIES specifically? Who knows. I never got the Barbaro thing. Big bay, snapped a leg, probably should have been euthed immediately, rest of his full siblings were only ‘meh’ horses. Why people fixated on him, I have no idea. People are weird.

I never got the Barbaro thing either, to be honest.

I have an ex-racer TB, a chestnut with chrome gelding. He’s completely unremarkable too, and I think he’s much prettier than CC.

My guess would be because of one ordinary guy. DAP in terms of one guy exaggerated about every event. The guy who dismissed DAP as a non entity. That guy let Chrome down and sold him. Period. With no thought as to Chromes future. Incredible.

There is no learning to be done when the purpose is to slander. Not to difficult to figure out.

Coburn has an incredible case of seller’s remorse, and their foolish relatives make it worse by continuing to banter on about it. It’s been over six months that they willingly sold their shares in Chrome, and the drama continues. You’d think they would calm down when they still are tied to the Martins for the other racing stock. How much longer will they expect people to listen to the ‘we was robbed’ scenario that is playing out none too well?

Oh boy, in case you need a reason to crack out the popcorn and box wine (or insert your poison here) there’s a new CC article on the Blood horse.

One comment has 50 odd responses right now

I think it’s high past time that he was allowed to retire to stud and then a nice pasture, keep working him and he will end up like so many other good horses in a meat yard!!!

I’d post the link, but it’s not pasting right for some reason.

Oh, they use Disqus to make comments. You can say pretty much anything. Anyone of you who wants to address the BCH facebook people, it’s very easy to set up a Disqus account, and BCH can’t delete it.

Just read a recent post on the FB page. Holy crap. Whoever runs that page needs to find a hobby.

BCH and the total loonies have been run off the Blood Horse site. Some of them (loonies that is) show up on the BH FB page though. I don’t think some of them have found the BCH site yet, but that could just be my crappy memory coming into play…

Wow… the idiocy is amazing. He looks a little thin after an international flight and some of them are “OMG… I hope he’s OK”… really? eyeroll

The BCH administrator got her nose bloodied in one of the Disqus comment sections. Ooh, she stupidly admitted that SHE was its leader. First thought was, who would admit that??? I wouldn’t think she’d appear after that – there were several ‘deleted posts’ in the assault (which seemed to be from her). Great reading, though.

Bring Chrome Home I dont think this page is negative. Just different opinions. We have to stop telling people who disagree with us that they are being negative.

Her response to a commenter that her site is ‘too negative.’

Ya think, dearie? She cuts people down who are just posting information, not even comments. Who ‘Likes’ in agreement with the statement? Ms Farrends, who spits fire and brimstone at the Martins, even blaming them twice about the deplorable way ‘he’ arranged the travel arrangements for Chrome’s trip to Dubai before they all calmed themselves down.

Frosted is in Dubai too, will we see a ‘Bring Frosted Home’ page? lol
