The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

I’m not sure why you guys are finding this so surprising.
If you trained a horse and the owner decided the horse should run across the state, across the country, or on another continent, do you think that you should have to pay your own way, and that of the groom and assistant?

The owner foots the bill.

We are talking about a horse here with $6.3m in earnings, and worth millions as a stud prospect. I think Martin/Coburn would have no problem springing for several plane tickets and hotel rooms.

I can’t seem to find the answer to this question anywhere (somewhere online I read an answer to the same question and it said they get in for free that day…what?).
Stewards are like judges - they work for the governing body and not the track. These are the assignments last year in California

It was a really good start. It’s on Calracing under her name.

I think I was being somewhat facetious, because Martin seems to be considered to be The Devil Incarnate. He, I gather, stayed in the USA and was there to see Chrome’s sister’s maiden start.

Of course everyone involved deserves a good working vacation; I just don’t think the Chromies would stop to think of who is picking up the tab for all the expensive training and expenses for all, or 70% of it, at least.

Thoe CC guys are living the dream. Only flakes would bitch about that !

Chrome will be the 3rd KY Derby to run at Ascot.
Animal Kingdom ran up the track in the Queen Anne Stakes a couple of years ago. The other one was Triple Crown winner Omaha back in 1936, who was involved in a great stretch duel with the filly Quashed in the Gold Cup. Here is old newsreel video footage of that tussle between Omaha and Quashed… https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=18&v=L2R0jdPlsw8

It was a nice race. I don’t know if she’s another CC but from the first race, looks like she’ll be a nice successful horse

Not to shabby considering he’d never run 2.5 miles before. Unlike CC’s owners, who apparently think the horse can be flipped like a light switch between American dirt racing and the typical tracks in the UK, Omaha was kept and raced in England his entire 4 yo season. Did his share of winning too.

Hope it’s not too OT but I wonder why Omaha was the only triple crown winner in history not to be voted HOY?

Thanks for sharing D…

CC may miss Royal Ascot start. Apparently he has a bruised hoof. I wonder what the Bring Chrome Home crowd will make of this!

Oh gosh, how embarrassing - thank you for the answer Pronzini and Findeight. I’d meant to post on another thread where the question made more sense. Thanks for being kind and answering anyway! I wondered where my post went! blush

Did you read some of the comments…SMH I wonder how most of those folks posting make it through day to day life, as they sure don’t have a brain cell to share between the bunch.

Best wishes no matter what the outcome, for all of CC’s team. I think it’s great they are willing to go outside the box so to speak with THEIR horse & not stick to “easier” races Stateside.

News flash! CC has an abscess because god answered their prayers. WTF. Shouldn’t read that page before it’s late enough to drink.

Newmarket July Festival or Ascot 25th July ??

Newmarket July Festival ??
Doubt it, no race for him there.

The Eclipse G1 over 10f at Sandown is the most likely target. He was pre entered in that race.
It’s on the 4th of July too, so sets up nicely for America’s horse kicking English ass on Independence day. It’s almost like it was predestined to happen that way.

I had what I thought was a civil discussion on there yesterday re the common occurrence of abscesses. They have deleted all my posts. I can only assume because I do not think it was Gods will.

they all seem awfully happy that he has an injury, for people who claim to love him so much.

just realized I have also been blocked from posting there. LOL.

The idiots don’t seem to have considered another entry. Sandown seems perfect. It is logical that they would do that. It’s not like they’d be lacking vet care !

Major bummer about the abscess, but par for the course with horses. I’m so disappointed about this race, but it will be great if he stays in England for another try. Glad to hear that he’s already pre-entered in some others.

I would think that the Chromies would be thrilled to see him run without Lasix, etc., but then one would have to expect them to think logically.

He is entered at Sandown… http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=623594&r_date=2015-07-04&big_race=Y&raceTabs=

Sounds like a great option.

Add Chrome to the list with Palace Malice and Shared Belief of horses yanking my chain this year (at least Chrome is just typical horsey bad timing; SB, ugh, and I’m less and less convinced PM’s really going to keep going with this comeback…)

Logic is a quality in very short supply in most quarters. I think it’s outright banned on the BCH page.
