The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

So there are Facebook pages for DAP Racing (Martins), the Coburns of California Chrome, and for the Shermans. I think it’s far beyond time to circle the wagons and issue a blanket statement re Chrome and his care. I don’t care if the various parties didn’t agree exactly about the English adventure. It sure didn’t hurt the horse and it gave everyone an opportunity to experience something they otherwise wouldn’t have been exposed to.

DAP and Martin & Coburn have done a whole lot for the Shermans and vice versa. No matter what individual feelings might be, it’s time to present a united front to the crazies and issue a very strong statement of support for all that has been going on, and especially for the much maligned Martins. .

Because Chrome wakes up every morning to a hug from the Coburns, Art, Alan and Raul … well, Raul, anyway. Chrome will be crying his eyes out when he realizes they flew back to the U.S. without him.

Until he looks out the stall window and realizes once again where he is now … in which case the aforementioned principals may be getting a ‘Dear John’ letter from Chrome, with the news that he has made new friends and will be changing his citizenship to Newmarket. :winkgrin:

How do you think so many odd people found that site and each other? And I still do not understand why that horse attracted these people. What is it about him? Is it the owners? (And I am not a fan of the Coburbs like all of those people are)

We have to do something now, I know they have families but Im sure families are now as concerned as everyone else is. I think the issue is Martin wont pay for any of the their living expenses, accomodations, meals…Which would obviously mean they would not be paid for being there with Chrome for 2 weeks. I know all of us Chrome Fans would gladly contribute to fund the costs for someone from Chromes team to go stay with him. Its an urgent situation now. Willie, what are you doing the next couple weeks? That what Chrome needs, Willie.

That site seems to have a curious mix of religious fervor and jingo-ism combined for a focus on a single race horse. The news that CC is returning to the US without running in England has been met with an outpouring of religious joy.

Ya know, that’s crossing the line into downright creepy if not threatening. The way some can be influenced and manipulated by faceless “mentors” on the webz? Hope it’s not interpreted as a call to action by some in the cult this has become.

Somebody really, really hates the Martins too. Hope they don’t end up with demonstrators on their front lawn. And that’s possible with so many followers out in Cali.

There are people with a personality disorder that distorts their perception of reality. Can’t remember the name of it but many who fall into cults or engage in celebrity stalking, the ones who think the person is speaking to them in code or blinking eyes, are afflicted.

I suppose most of these people are just normal but passionate (and young) fans but some of them are definitely in their own reality. And that’s a little scary. What will they do when Chrome comes home?

Arlington should be interesting.

So someone is ready to send hard currency - and a good bit of it, even with a VW Beetle and staying at Motel 6, what they are proposing won’t be cheap - “urgently”, emergency, for someone to provide anthropomorphic emotional support to the much-pampered horse, when the world has too many horses (and children and other things) in critical neglect and abuse situations with no one to rescue them …

The words “fringe movement” come to mind. This is right up there with some of the most pointless ideas in human history. :no: :o

That stuff has to be a big joke that someone (or possibly a group of someones) is putting on. Like some kind of elaborate piss take.
There is not way that some of that stuff can be real.

Although, there was some weird ass folks saying some weird ass stuff during the Barbaro period, so who knows.

The weird ass Barbaro stuff is still going on to this day including Barbaro himself chiming in from the beyond every once in a while.

Per the Coburns’ page, yes. I can’t say I’m not slightly disappointed, but of course there’s no point in starting Chrome in England if he isn’t at his best.

I’ve actually thought that off and on. Just can’t figure out how to differentiate between bat shit crazy and elaborate piss-takers. I keep on thinking people can’t be that effed up and then thinking back to Barbaro, I’m reminded that they can be.

Are the weird ass Chrome people also the weird ass Barbaro people (and the weird ass Zenyatta people)? Do they cross over or are there different weirdos for each horse?

If I was Martin/Coburn, I would pull the plug on all the social media and just release news through articles or press releases.
