The "NO REINSTATEMENT" thread.

because that would be legal. And humane. yep… the whole slaughterhouse process is humane and the horses are happy as can be.

I have always been interested in this whole sexist issue. Technically the X chromosone is an error and they have already proved in many species that they can reproduce females without the contribution of the male except you only get more females and that would so boring I don’t want to go there.

That’s always been the big issue of the virgin birth, it is possible but then Jesus would have had to be female. And was it only his current male chauvinist world that decided he was male? Any evidence? Did you see see the TV documentary about Pope Joan?

And no I am not a female chauvinist nor a Lesbian, just a student of the mind who enjoys keeping both sides in perspective.

In re-reading the close of my last post, I thought it sounded a bit self-righteous, and maybe it is. One might also ask, why I didn’t do anything about the killings when they were going on if I felt so strongly about them. The answer is: I was terrified of the people who were doing them. Terrified for myself, barn, dog, horses, clients, etc.

Alot of people didn’t speak out then. Fear, apathy, not wanting to get “involved”, not wanting to believe their friends/trainers/collegues could do such things. It was a huge relief when the FBI did start to investigate and a huge letdown when AHSA/USEF took years and years to set these guys down in the first place. At any rate, we CAN speak out now and I think we must continue to do so.

So, forgive me if I sound like a self-righteous idiot. I am a “trying to do the right thing self righteous idiot.”

Ok, this situation is rather convoluted, I guess? AWF is owned by someone other than PV, but somehow PV gets paid to train and make decisions in care for horses there. There are also other trainers on AWF payroll who are the ones who sign off on entries of clients of PV and the other trainers?

"so you do admit giving them drugs when not showing, or do i misunderstand your statement? "

There’s nothing innocent about YOUR comments about show hunters being like ‘crack addicts’. You’re being antagonistic, pure & simple. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck it’s a duck.

Having an aspiring hunter, I found that comment, very much the “an attack”. Further, this statement above made by you, was made to be nasty, pure & simple.

Research or not, you should be aware that just because horses are given methocarb, albuteral, prednisolone, cyproheptadine, flunuxine, bute or other maintenance medicines, it does NOT mean they’re ‘addicts’. There are plenty of barns that use these types of drugs therapeutically, and abide by the rules… Many horses have to live on periodic low dosages of robaxin, for example. So long as it’s pulled from their diet according to the guidelines, I see no harm.

Now, if you’re a zealot for ‘animal abuse’ you’ll say that any animal who requires ANY maintenance medication is being abused. To which I reply: How is it different from when an athlete starts up, or increases or changes a workout regimen? Or when my arthritis kicks in~ Or when my cramps make me want to puke & go to bed? Or asthma? Do you think we just simply deal with it? Or do you think I’ll allow myself an advil twice a day, for a few days until my body adjusts?

Or am I just a drug “addict” according to your logic?

They still slaughter horses. Trailer ride and all. They’ve just figured out how to slaughter less. Is not the point of hiring someone to go to europe to avoid the culls?

Bizarre, Erin…and pointed, imo…

My husband commented to me this morning as I sent off the cheque for my horse’s insurance policy that I probably have PV et al to thank for high insurance prices. That may be true. I know it’s an absolute truth, however, that insurance companies now go to extremes to ensure that proper procedures are taken when a horse needs to be euthanized in case of insurance fraud.

ditto workers comp fraud, and car accident fraud, etc. Same problem—why do you think that insuring an animal is different than insuring a boat or plane for instance? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

What are you going on about now??

Just an aside…“Dawg” got kicked out of the dictionary of slang!

Absolutely, scout! I once had someone tell me something to the effect of, for my sake they hoped we’d never meet.

Oh yeah…count me in with that motley crew lined up outside your wine cellar!

I think radishes come in bunches and so do bananas. I never knew people come in bunches.

How about some capital letters?

Nice to know you read.

Obviously it was felt that for whatever reason the horse was not living up to its billing, or was not performing well enough for a certain rider or whatever reason that made killing them seem to them like a viable alternative. If they had not been insured and therefor no way to recoup the costs, what would have been done then? Would they still have died mysteriously because they were an embarrasement (percieved) or as a way to hide the fact that they were not as good as buyer had been led to believe? Would they have been sold down, given

perhaps I’ve missed your point… why don’t you answer your own question? What would have happened to PV’s horse if he chose not to insure said POS?

Nancy Jaffer article in New Jersey Star Ledger posted on separate thread. (76 pages is a lot to wade through to find articles…)

Barney Ward lives relatively close to me… I’ve so often been tempted to leave him a letter in his mail box saying “Horse Killer”… But I’ve always been able to talk my self out of it, and my reasoning had always been “He’ll never be back in showing” I am so appalled to think that in 2009 he will be able to apply for reinstatement.

Radio-PLease read the post adressed to me.

In it, I am told that I have lost ALL credibility in the eyes on ONE poster because I have not ‘tattled’ on folks who have sent me less than complimentary e-mails…

HOw exactly did THAT post relate to the topic?

How many times have we seen people in the horse world, who, when misfortune unexpectedly comes their way, divorce, illness, death, job loss, they can no longer pay the freight. The horse is for sale but sometimes it takes more than a few weeks to sell a horse, and the horse ends up having to go fast, very fast no matter what or where.
Not uncommon - we’ve all seen it happen. Very sad to see. They are an expensive part of our lives and its heartbreaking I am sure to have it happen to you. It’s bad enough to watch it happen. I dont really think the people it happens to always have time to plan. And lets face it, some people just arent good money planners. Especially if all their money goes into their horses! So the horse has to go and go NOW.

IMHO I think it is because they can’t survive on their own and trust us to look after them. To that end, a slaughterhouse or auction to a bad home is pretty guilt creating.

I have an idea - LET HIM FOOT THE BILL FOR POOR MR. BIGGLESWORTH!!!

His parents are dealing with huge medical bills to save a silly, backyard mini donkey who was ravaged by dogs and nearly died!

I would guess PV (and his millionairess wife) could easily take care of it.

Now, let him do it and NOT tell anyone

Gotta admit that one was a no-brainer!!

I am sorry, but this has gone to far. How could anyone disguise Barney Ward?

So we have the vet falsifying the medical cause for that horse but it’s the trainer that’s the culprit in my book.

Do Vets have to take an oath? Hippocratic in nature?
