The "NO REINSTATEMENT" thread.

Anthem, you were the one telling the rest of us to encourage him. I simply was attempting to point out that most people perform acts of kindness and charity without encouragement.

JN you just said a word that has been missing in so many posts. Trust. They trust us. To keep them safe out of harm. mwe if you have ever had to put a horse down, that you no longer could help, and who was in pain, that look, seeing you, trusting you will do the right thing. That horse was never given any of this, and he should have been. He was not injured, he was not in pain. He was an embarrassment to the trainer. That was all he did.

Also, on this petition I would love for each person to mention if they personally know each “horse killer” or not. Would be interesting!

AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Why would that be interesting??? Why does it matter??? Like it or not, PV COMMITTED AND CONFESSED TO TERRIBLE CRIMES!!! And, NOTHING any of us says or does here will change that.

Sadly, we seem to live in a culture where no one seems to believe that there should be consequences for one’s actions any more… Especially if that someone is rich and/or famous. Well, I for one, refuse to cave to that trend.

And, trust me, I’m not saying anything here that I would not GLADLY say to their faces.

Seb

Sheila H… contribute like an adult, or don’t contribute.

For the record, the only one who can state unequivocally that PV is in violation of any USEF rules is a USEF official. I don’t mind people citing the rule and questioning whether or not what he’s doing is kosher under the rules, but I DO mind people stating that yes, he is definitely breaking rules. Rules are subject to interpretation, and since no one here is a steward, I don’t think anyone can unequivocally state that they know for sure how the rules are interpreted.

Chanda, none of us have tried to deny Paul his right to apply for reinstatement either. But, ya know, sometimes one has to take a stand beyond that…And, I don’t know why the horse welfare committee wouldn’t have a say…

Hiddenlake–no problems! I TOTALLY get where you are all coming from. When the insurance fraud hit the media, and I watched an exposee about it, I was so angry, I just couldn’t do anything for an hour after the show.

I could not believe what people would do for money, and the horrific stories of what those people did to the horses just…I cringed.

I was just wondering if saying no to reinstatment would hit them in their pocketbook, or if there was another way all these intetions could really stop them, but Seven really explained it very well, and I TOTALLY respect that.

As I said, I am the eternal optimist. I like to BELIEVE that people can change, and would change. That they have seen a new light and become advocates against animal abuse/insurance fraud. Of course, I can still believe that people can change, right?

hiddenlake, thanks about the info for sinus infections. This was my very first, and so far, I’m ok. I can’t imagine having sinus infections SO bad you need root canal!! Yikes!

All you can do is keep these people off Licensed competitions, you have no more power than that.

With all due respect meadow lark, unless you have had a situation like this happen to you or your horse then you have no idea the lifetime of damage it causes the victims. I speak from experience and I will continue to do whatever I can to keep horse felons out of the industry!!

What are you talking about? The horses were the victims–you aren’t a dead horse are you?

It has been over ten years…go get a life please.

Another good idea harry. We’re on a roll. If you would SNL you can send usAHSA a record of your costs as a donation and have the funds forwarded to it as a non-profiit sport club the donations are tax deductible. I will set up a separate “Non-Reinstatement Account” and keep track of the funds that come in and you will be able to deduct it for charity. I’ll start the legal fund with $10.00. I promise a full financial accounting.

Our EIN: is 11-3718544

Uberetc, please. On the one hand, no-reinstatement can be portrayed as a positive thing. On TV, even.

On the other–if you see the horse-killings as such a black eye on the sport, why not take a stand?

And believe me, if I had a child in this sport, I would be QUITE a great deal more proactive about such matters. And not on the lets-pretend-this-isn’t-happening side, either.

Edited to add, the Palm Beach Post recently ran a short and well-balanced front page story about the petition AND continues to run interesting articles about WEF and the NHS.

Well written Seven! Thank you for expressing your side with an eloquence that helped me hear you.

Hiddenlake–you bring up a valid point. While I’m not a journalist, I did study journalism and I WILL read these pages, but I’ve had the brutal headache of weather shifting and possibally my sinus infection has not totally left the building

My thoughts were brought to a case here in Canada, and why I am hoping the bill for injury animals will become a crime. About five years ago, two men were found and charged(the case is old now, so I don’t remember the charge) for not only skinning a cat/tourturing it alive, but capturing this on video. The story just infuriated me. People who do this will move on to humans. It’s a scientific fact.

I believe it is known as Bill 112 or 121, but the problem with passing this bill is one the horse community has stalled, and with good reason. Defining abuse is tricky. We use spurs and crops to get horses to listen. 99.9 % of us use them correctly. But, that .1% of us who don’t can make this bill murder for us if it IS passed, someone sees us using a stick and whammo, we’re charged with criminal charges.

So, until the kinks in this bill are ironed out, I can definetly see your reasons for keeping these people out of your shows/off your show properties.

Thank you for the clarification, and I guess there is just the optimistic side of me that thinks 'maybe these people have learnt their lesson? Maybe they are truely sorry?"

I see another thread here about the rules of fraud, so I’m off to read that too.

Actually, I do disagree, the organization can choose what they want to do with the opinion of the petitioners, it is not a vote, per se.

I agree with you to the extend that an organization can certain choose to go that way. However, I just don’t think USEF is one…I guess we will find out.

Sgray and I predict that if he is Re-Instated there will also be law suits. However, by that time the current law suit and those pending over show dates may have already stripped the treasury.

True. There are a lot of people who really do dedicate their lives and make tremendous sacrifices to try and make this world a better place for horses. I guess the main theme of this thread is so negative it just encourages harsh words and feelings. Thanks for the uplifting stories! Maybe I will be able to have sweet dreams tonight after all.

a Vet takes an oath to protect animals in need not murder them for profit.

I don’t think so.

Falsifying records and participating in insurance fraud are what got her in trouble.

IIRC (and I could well be mis-remembering) she got a SHORT, fixed term suspension (no need to apply for reinstatement).

yeah…PV himself got himself an account the day Oxer showed him the thread…
…my point was that I do think Big Dawg is PV (or maybe Goldy)

I agree. Timing is just too coincidental for me.

What if PV had decided NOT to talk?

And yes, further on down the road, I hope this does start a trickle-down effect. It’s no secret that I think suspensions and penalties for abuse should be increased; I’ve always maintained that.

I’m hopelessly idealistic but I would really like to see USEF be a clean organization, insofar as it is able to be. I think that they do try, but I’m not sure they try hard enough.

Anything we members can think of to do in order to encourage them on the long road to development of sound policy is something that’s going to get a LOT of my time/attention.

I sure can’t argue with that, WA, and I’d support it if I thought it’d make any difference. Alas, it will in the end come down to money, not principles.

Sgray Thank you find that thread. It just reinforces that something MIGHT be amiss. Still would like to know who is signing the entry blanks.

Most deffinately not the time to stop…since now we know the 2nd one that got back in.
