TWF ~ perhaps we need some “cowboys” on a few governing boards!!

To add to TWF’s post about lifetime bans in other sports-Ben Johnson, the Canadian sprinter, was banned for life for testing twice for illegal substances (steroids).
I think this reinstatement petition needs to let the USEF know that a ten year ban is not sufficient for such horrific crimes.
I’m sure that if you’re around horses as a business for many years, you see a lot of awful stuff go on-drugging and poling and too much longing. I still can’t imagine ever becoming complacent regarding someone electrocuting or smashing the legs of a wonderful athlete that just needed to have a different job.
Belgium Waffle, Emili’s Choice, Rainman, Roseau Platiere, Streetwise, Empire, Pet of the Year and Cloud Castle, Charisma and Rub the Lamp-may their horrible deaths not be in vain…
And Eric Lamaze has been caught three times for cocaine, and he is still in the sport–once he was either going into or coming out of Australia, I think, to/from a competition. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Sure, sure bring Eric’s problems into this Big Dawg, you aren’t just someone who happened to wander on here to research a project-you’re a bonafide “in the know” horse person aren’t ya?!
Eric wasn’t caught with cocaine three times. I do believe it was cocaine once and then a banned over the counter med the next time. (Canadians correct me if I’ve got the wrong sequence of events) He did not get to represent Canada at the last Olympics even though he had, in many people’s opinion, the better horse than Ian Millar did. It was down to the discretion of the Canadian committee and they chose squeaky clean Captain Canada. But doing coke is nowhere near as horrific as sentencing a horse to an awful death because it’s not performing up to your standards.
Racetb - I think that’s probably true, but the other side is also true. Meaning that I would suspect some have been so turned off from the extremism of the anti-PV camp that they won’t consider signing or enter the discussion to see where they stand. I guess it goes both ways.
There’s so much venom on both sides…but there have been glimmers of real debate too.
Amen, VB. …and it indirectly affects many of us and will for years to come. I had to listen to my poor little a/o lady, upon the “real” colic death of her beloved hunter, sobbing into the phone to the insurance companies, asking “Do you want to come dig my “Murphy” UP?!!”…due to the mistrust these people have instilled in the horse insurance industry, not to mention the exorbitant increases in mortality rates and the insulting raft of “cause of death” questions our good vets have to endure. I thank the gods of animal welfare I haven’t been through the Hell that VB and her mother have…Believe me, the swath of cruelty, mistrust and ugliness cut through our sport is not going away any time soon.
Great post from Fairview Horse Center. It’s a link to clear description of internet trolls, their behavior and motivations and how best to respond to their posts. If you haven’t read it, you might find it very interesting and it might influence how certain posters on this link could be dealt with effectively.
Here’s the link Fairview provided.
Internet Trolls
It appears that some of the people who are posting on these threads and admitting to riding with him could possibly be in violation of the rules. Nice to have it all spelled out and saved for eternity on a server.
Some of these or some parts of these are new, since they have only going into effect on the 1st of December of this year. Looks as though someone is tired of watching him train from the parking lot at shows. Now that they are in effect does anyone think people will step up and protest? Put their money where their mouth is? Perhaps we can start a fund for that.

What do you all think is TRULY the INTENT of this rule???
Erin, can you help to explain why PV and BW are not in violation?
Just to wade into the fray, I have to add my two cents…the NO REINSTATEMENT bracelets are CARDINAL red, not RED. There is a difference, at least according to the bracelet manufacturers.
Scout, I think harry was referring to the “extremists” on both sides…
I have friends who have not (and probably will not) sign the petition for their own reasons. I may not understand how anyone would not sign it, but understand and respect those who, for their own personal reasons, are not comfortable or whatever, with signing it.
Nice try, dude, but I already have my own thread, this is the NO REINSTATEMENT THREAD.

Yes, but they were not suspended because they are criminals, they were suspended for animal abuse–in case you don’t know…there are no rules against criminals being members of the USEF.
And most every one of them have the right to petition for reinstatement, and to have their case heard in a fair and impartial manner…
after all, we let the suspended druggers of horses back in without even a petition for reinstatement…and that doesn’t bother all you “do gooder, self-righteous” types…I don’t get why you all are on such a bender about this when obviously other things don’t even phase you.
Amen
Second that, Equus. Bali can be captain of my debating team anytime
Oh! Harry that is so true. We had $5.00 longshots but they were brave. They had heart not just a pretty face. I remember when Vic Goines was coaching Pat Byrne on Eastside Drive and she’s gallop into the ring at a dea run to psych out the other riders. Old Sully had my daughter jump the ingate on the way in to the ring with our Sir.James. He’s stand around looking like a refuge from the slaughter house but boy could he ever jump.
They can’t remove me from a list that I have never been on; never wanted to be on and a club that is just too elitist for me. Bright people got a gift we didn’t earn therefore deserve no credit for it. It means nothing unless you can use it properly. In that case the credit is for what you do and not what you might be capable of doing but are too lazy.
TWF ~ I like your idea about contacting the AQHA. They are a huge association with a lot of vocal members.

Well, the Trib didn’t have anything on the killing of this particular horse, just Dr. Hugi’s conviction & sentencing.
If you read the Hearing Committee decision carefully, you kind of get the sense they weren’t 100% convinced that the evidence of an admitted multiple perjurer was really enough to state for sure that Heinsohn paid to have Jatomic Streaker killed. The HC only states that “evidence exists” to suggest that he did.
Which is why we left the horse off the shirts.
Should we add Jatomic Streaker?
Comments welcome!
Edited to correct spelling: Jatomic. I am very tired, but that’s no excuse for getting the poor horse’s name wrong!
…and I think each case has to be examined individually.

Funny that, we could say the same thing about you? It appears you joined 2 days ago only to defend PV - who exactly are YOU?
First I don’t think it’s any of your business who I am. But since you choose to attack me and my reasons for joining I will respond.
I had been a member on these forums previously but forgot all my information as I had my laptop stolen when my car was broken into. The authorities told me to create all new screen names passwords etc on anything that was on my computer since identity theft is a big issus. SO, no I did not just join to defend PV and how dare you question me and my intentions on this forum. I am doing what everyone else does on this forum, which is express an opinion which I, as are you are entitled to, regardless if we agree or disagree.
I also am an active member in the H/J community and have been for over 20 years. SO sorry I haven’t been able to post over 3000 times like you have.
I’m not questioning your intentions, merely pointing out that you are in fact hiding behind your anonymity. And I do believe your intentions were to join to defend PV, why else have you just joined 2 days ago and have 18 posts in 2 days only on these 2 threads?
I don’t care if you defend him or not, voice your opinion or not. I was just pointing out that what you are accusing others of doing you are doing yourself.
And fwiw I may have a lot of posts…that would be because I am busy supporting myself with a job sitting in front of a computer 10+ hours a day and multi-task which includes convesing with people so I don’t go brain dead. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Is this a BB a meritocracy based on the number of posts? Is your opinion weighted more consideribly with each 1,000 posts?
What personal statisitics qualifies ones opinion?
Do we all need to file our names, DOB’s and SS#'s in order for our voice to count?
I respect anyone who has joined the BB to be heard, whether they are, or not, in favor of reinstatement or tack nosebands…everyone is entitled to their own opinion, regardless of the lenght and basis of their membership.
Let people’s personal security be just that-personal. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
AGAIN for the last time, I was responding to the poster accusing someone else of hiding behind their anonymity while he/she is in fact doing the exact same thing, 10 posts, 100 posts or 1 million posts, I don’t care. It’s just hypocritical.
The second vet that was involved in this, Dana Tripp, now Dana Waters, is showing in the jumpers in Ocala. Did she get suspended and let back in to USEF after her part in all this??
