Yeah, I was a bit extreme in my earlier post. I was trying to make a point, which is this: if someone really thinks PV is on the showgrounds at Wellington, then they should get down there and check it out. File a protest if evidence is found. To rely on gossip and rumor is always a bad idea.
Wow! Good it didn’t get lost
Just testing to see how this all works.
Hi Snowy, Me too.
As anyone heard if it’s true that Billy Moroney dismissed two members of his committee from Zone 3 and then then the genius appointed someone from Pennsylvania and Georgia to take their place? Doesn’t he know Pennsylvania is in Zone 2?
Just a bump up until the rest can get back on line.
Ahem! we need your attention.
Why accept defeat before you’re defeated?
I think it is important win, lose or draw that those be heard who have strong feelings. I think in the grand view of things the “Grassroots” does matter and that numbers are not the only thing at stake.
Can you feel good about yourself if some young new trainer thinks it’s OK! to do the same thing to another horse or horses?
(I’m back, Snowy!!)
Yes, that’s exactly what’s at issue. I’ve got to say I really truly genuinely FEAR the possibility of the prevailing attitude turning into “Oh, that’s OK, everybody does it.”
So please keep crossposting, everybody!!
War Admiral we’ve missed you. I agree that what matters is the impact that doing such heinous acts should be recognized as just that. Young people as we’ve been able to tell from this BB have no idea what happened back with the Chicago horse mafia and those who killed horses for profit.
It’s like the old “Murder Incorporated” it’s just a piece of history. I don’t think a lot of people realize that Helen Brach was killed because she was going to go to the District Attorney and file charges against them. How can it be that a man who admits on national TV he was hired to dispose of her body is still permitted to sell horses at shows?
late hatch? AlterAlter?
We’ll never know if we don’t try
The worst things in life happen because people think there is no point to try and make a change. Yet, history is full of single individuals who have made big changes in history changing the way people think.
If we venture nothing then we deserve what we get which is nothing. The best things in the world have happened because one person cared and then many people cared to make something better.
I have confirmed that there is nothing which prevents a nonprofit corporation from having rules which deny membership to convicted felons involved in fradulant activities. In our case we will limit it to fraudulant activity having to do with horses.
Why should we accept the inevitability of continuing to promote the welfare of individuals who have damaged this sport in many ways by their activities. We can take an action today to write a Rule which will protect the future generations of this sport from the same dilemma.
I think it is time that we are heard and we are entitle to be heard because we pay the bills. We are the Federation and the employees are under the responsibility of the Board of Directors. I think honorable people would be derelict in their responsibilities to this sport and the horses if they didn’t pass our Rule Change if it is properly written.
The petition whether a legal document or not is a public statement and a declaration that there are a lot of us who agree that convicted felons who have injured, abused and stolen horses should not be respected.
Snowy - What are the USHJA rules concerning those suspended from USEF for the crimes discussed in this thread? Any set yet?
I’m also still curious about whether USEF is just going to let people apply for membership once their AHSA suspensions are up or whether they will have to go through the hearing process. Does anyone know if this is how Nancy Banfield was able to become a member?
Well USHJA is Bill Moroney
Members there have no vote or voice either. It’s by invitation. So far as I can tell Bill Moroney has not taken a stand and there has been no discussion of the subject. Moroney has an article in the Chronicle about things that are wrong. Killing horses for insurance is not one of them. He hasn’t taken a stand on the Date Rotation mess for 2007 yet either. He didn;t even mention drugging the horses as a problem.
I received a fax from Tony Hitchcock he and Tom Struzzeri were going to try an compromise some date adjustments but he didn’t get approval from the higher powers. That is John Long and Howar Pike so they dropped the idea.
If you are going to assume someone important is going to jump into the water and save the sinking ship they’re not. The big complaint has been for years the the “grassroots” makes a lot of noise and demands but they won’t do anything. I think War admiral has made a start to prove that’s not true.
Does anyone here that is on a USHJA committee
Care to chase down the opinion of the USHJA since these seem to all be Hunter/Jumper people? Will the USHJA take a position against convicted felons who have hired killers to collect insurance and those who have stolen ownership rights of horses and refused to honor the right of the true owners? I understand they are having a Retreat in May. Can anyone get this on their agenda?
I have been told that the Florida case will be argued in court on May 24th. The Judge will decide if there is to be a trial based on anti-trust violations.
This should have some impact on the proposed plan to move those shows who wish back to their traditional dates in spite of mileage rule violations.
Bill Moroney’s article…
At the end of Bill Moroney’s latest article he makes a statement regarding, or relating to the idea of not talking about things you do not know the details of. He tells his readers to go to the higher members of the association and to get names and numbers correct before shouting from the rooftops, or making accusations.
Don’t you think he’s referring to the “no reinstatement” issue?
I do.
It seems he is.
“Don’t you think he’s referring to the “no reinstatement” issue?”
That’s exactly what I thought. Verging on the “little people” insinuations in my book!
Just Google It…
For those of you that don’t think this is an amazingly huge issue with the public, just try going to Google, and type in No Reinstatement for Horse Killers, and you’ll be amazed at the number of hits this horrible subject brings up.
Maybe Mr. Moroney might want to have a peek at the petition before he starts heading down that road.
Google and find all the articles on this subject. Mr Moroney hopefully has read all about this and has read the issue of No-reinstatement…The facts are very easy to find.
Nice to see some BNTs on the petition signatures
