And I still contend that no one is pushing to reinstate Marion Hulick, and look at what she did in terms of training, and working with young people for 30 or 40 years before being set down for this. She was a legend when I was a child. Barney Ward doesn’t have people supporting him, all he wants to do is watch his son ride. George Lindemann, no group of wide eyed supporters. Why should they be considered any more guilty than anyone else involved?
Read this…but it’s a tough one.

The people involved in the fraud somehow connect to Si. Some have already passed away. I am unsure if James Heinsohn is alive.
Let’s get back tothe cruelty issue.Eventing was forced to undergo a major change in ordr to stay in the Olympics, and quiet the "humaniacs in .Let’s be honest, the drug issue in h/jland id out of control; I know of barns where it takes 45 nunurtes to pout nedications in the feed of 20 horses, and, this at home, in the winter…

Problems with the horse…
Screw in the leg where it had been fractured,(8 inch scar I should have noticed but didn’t), bench knee, 12 large melanomas on the sheath, kidney problems–couldn’t keep on weight even though he had been there 8 months. Vet said he might last at 3’6, but I really need a low a/o horse with potential to move up. He was a VERY nice horse, but I felt cheated…I was never really allowed to be alone with the horse to look him over properly. When you try horses at their place, you just stand in the arena while the groom brings up the horse with your saddle on.
A horse with pins should never be presented for sale let alone for $$. It’s b/c of people like this we are going to end up like real estate sales, brokers, realators, background checks.
Reality is where most of us reside
It would be nice to add something for the unknown horses who died in the barn fires over the years.
I didn’t make a “statement”. I just asked two legitimate questions. I have not seen any info as to the name of the 501 [c] [3] organization nor its tax ID #…so I asked if you were making a profit selling these…Why are you so hostile…are you afraid I assumed you had something to hide? I think that anyone paying you money should know the details of the “charity” you represent…and if you have nothing to hide you would gladly give it.
Dear child don’t even try to play that game with me. Do you seriously believe that anyone couldn’t see through your question as a implication of common guilt. If so, you are very unsophisticated and should be cautious of your friends.
The Non-Profit Corporation is usAHSA otherwise registered as U.S.A. Horse Shows Association, Inc. It is incorporated in New Jersey and it’s Ein is: 11-3718544. It’d IRS category is as an equestrian sport club which makes it legal for us to run horse shows and sanction horse shows more legally than the USEF which is only an Educational Corporation and cannot itself run Equine Competitions as a Regulatory body. We are a National Affiliate of the Federation.
Thank you for the opportunity for free publicity here on the BB and please write the tax number down so you can deduct your donation when you make one to any of our purposes. Would you like me to email you an application for a sponsorship; is there some business you would like to advertise with an affiliation?
We do accept Affiliations or membership from any legitimate business but not if operated by a convicted felon however. I guess that my limit is within our mission to improve the quality of equine sport activity. You would have found out this information yourself with just a little effort.
Really… what? edited to say… broberry… where did your "Really’ go?
Anthem, I too am impressed by your civility. You sound like you would be a good friend to have, and I hope PV appreciates it.
Can I ask though, (and you can PT me if you don’t want to risk being flamed), if you were riding with PV before this happened, during or after? If you went there after, did you know his history? If not, did he bring it up to you? If you knew his history, why did you choose him over someone without the baggage? How can you ever be sure that he will put your horse’s needs first? I mean, say there was an important show/class, and while warming up your horse seems sore, but not truly lame. I personally would want my trainer to say, “You know, he doesn’t look right. I think you should scratch.” Or if your trainer gave Bute before bedtime at a show, and he was colicky, would he go ahead and give Banamine and scratch, due to the illegal meds, or would he hold off on the Banamine because he REALLY wants to see this horse show? I’d always have the doubt in my mind that if you can kill a horse, then you view them differently than me, and I wouldn’t ever feel that you would put the horse first. Do you know what I mean? How do you get around that?
Does he freely discuss his past with people visiting him that are thinking about training with him. Does he let them know right away that he can’t be at shows and why?
And my last question is, that he isn’t allowed to be the trainer at shows. So if he sends his students to a show with a stand in trainer, isn’t that skirting the rules?
It’s right here! Next to my peepcrack stash
Well, said TL.

Absolutely, and he should be allowed to have a job, a home, develop friends, and prove what a good person he has become. Getting back the same status, and control over animals should NOT be part of his future.
ask Xebgba - she will explain it to you.

Looks to me like a good percentage of names on that petition aren’t even USEF members. As such, I don’t see how the petition represents members of the USEF community…it just doesn’t fit for me.
I signed the petition but I am not a member of the USEF, my daughter is but she is only seven years old. I don’t think it would be appropriate to sign her number to my name. But we are active with the USEF shows. There are some USEF shows that do not require member numbers to show in certain divisions. So I feel the names without numbers could be good. Maybe these people show at rated shows in non rated divisions.
One change to the petition, PV is now in Plainville, MA, not Smithfield, RI
Well, I know you’re right because humanity has been doing the same thing for over 5000 years so there must be some pleasure.
I can understand why we do what we do;it’s a melding of two creatures. The horse has the legs we don’t have can run faster and longer so we adopt his legs and use his strength and depend on his courage. The horse trusts us and believes what our brain wants to do. That is logical; it computes. That gives pleasure because it makes us taller, stronger and more dominant than by ourselves.
I can understand skiing or snowboarding where there is the ultimate freedom of flight. Watching it let’s you imagine what being really free from natural laws of physics must feel like.
What is the world is the benefit of someone submerged in a tub of worms or letting bugs crawl all over them. Ostensively they do this for the chance to get $50,000; so do we watch to see how much someone can endure or to see if they win the money? How much more gross would they endure for $1 million dollars.
Why is tolerance of abusing the person a game or amusement? I can understand it in primitives who test themselves evey day just to survive. That can be a battle to measure the survival of the fittest. But in our world it just shows in the clinches you can’t trust anyone.
I think it’s a kind of brain washing that convinces the “masses” that there is no point in trying because all but one is a loser. It may not be as innocent as it looks.
I am prefacing this by saying it is my opinion only. We as members gave more credit to the then AHSA now USEF as a parent organization then they could do. They heard, set down and went about their business. When something occured, it took weeks, even months to fully get it looked at. IE: suspended persons being on show grounds, horses of suspended persons being shown. Stewards, judges, show managers are not police. Nor should they act as such. They are rule keepers. Trying to work within the confines of said rules. When given facts concerning rule infractions, AHSA/USEF looked at it. Many rule changes were put into place to allivate these problems. So they thought.
It is unfortunately similar to the drug rules. For every drug which is banned, someone somewhere, will come up with something new. For every rule on felons within our organization, someone is out there figuring out how to circumvent it. It is a game to many as we have seen.
Stopping a trainer, rider, owner, exhibitor from being reinstated is the one thing which USEF has come up with, that works. It won’t stop business as usual, but it does mean they are not welcomed back with open arms either.
Yes, Harry, you’re right…it was a calculated act…of stupidity.
Please, though, allow me this…
The written word is often left to misinterpretation as well as distort. The media has long suffered a reputation of sensationalism as well as slander.
Can you say with sincerity that you personally have given Paul a chance to apologize to you???
Does a forum exist that can allow this man an opportunity to apologize sufficiently?
Equusrocks Do you seriously expect Erin to tell you that? It would be foolish and one thing is for certain Erin is NOT FOOLISH!
I personally believe re-instatement is inappropriate for all involved. If this situation doesn’t warrant lifetime banning, it is difficult to imagine what would. Sanctions need teeth or they aren’t sanctions.
But that is your Opinion, not the current USEF [or former AHSA] Rule…do you believe in following the Rules, or are you for a dictatorship run by you?
[/quote]
Yes, big dawg, that is my opinion–that is why it is prefaced by the statement “I personally believe…” You did post earlier that you support the expression of differing opinions, did you not?
And, yes, I am a great supporter of following the rules. Nothing I have posted here suggests otherwise. PV is allowed to re-apply. Some apparently feel his application should be denied, and they are organizing their opinions in a formal manner for consideration by decision makers at various levels in the sport.
Finally, am I for a dictatorship run by me? Hmm. I suspect we all have that longing sometime during our lives. Of course a world run by me would be a better–albeit probably a messier–place.
