No convicted felons at that doggie show??
big dawg. do you have the news story regarding that happening to Eric? I used to live in Canada and do NOT remember that happening.
I don’t think you can compare what happened to Eric to Ben Johnson’s case. As an athlete, Ben was clearly using steroids to enhance his performance. He was tested at the Olympics after winning the gold and it was positive. What Eric did (cocaine) is clearly illegal and wrong but could it be conclusively proven that the coke was taken to enhance his performance as an athlete? I don’t think so.
At the time, I thought Eric’s career was finished. But we all know that many people forgive and forget a LOT of stuff. It would not surprise me to learn that people still seek financial advice from the old high ups at Enron!
So no, people aren’t mentioning the names of the other offenders.
Jrjumper why don’t you read before you post. Others have been mentioned, in several posts. Once again we are not only singling out PV but he is next to be reinstated and one person has been missed already. When the next person comes up after PV we will be there, but hopefully a rule change could stop them all.
I would believe, that because he is at the ring “on schooling day” it is considered not being on the grounds of the horse show, because the horse show states it runs from Wednesday to Sunday. Again, the walkie talkie incident(s), he is careful not to go on what is considered “official horse show grounds”, again, not in violation of the letter of his suspension, only the spirit of it. He disregard for the feelings of others is not part of the terms of his suspension, and you can rest assured he is not going to actually violate those terms in the next few months. Those against his suspension reinstatement need also consider this, he has had ten years to prepare himself for the moment, this grass roots effort has only a few months to organize against him, and not the very deep pockets of he and his supporters.
If someone wants to write it up I can send the article to all Equine magazines and Papers including Sidelines. Maybe we can raise enough money for an ad in Sidelines. I will include in our news article in the Equine Journal. We can get a 10% discount for their ad because usAHSA is affiliated with Equine Journal.I’ll see about using our free classified ad for the wristbands.
I think what bothers me the most is that Barney said Tommy Burns was like his son and lived with him. I guess he taught him all his skills. And, the other thing was when McLain said if he got to Olympics he was going for himself because this country never did anything for him.
When this was all breaking i got a phone call from a Reporter in Chicago. I asked him why he was calling me and he said because he heard I was an hones horseman. I asked and you had to come all the way to New Jersey to find one?
After thinking about this over the weekend, I too have signed. It was a tough decision for me.
Okay, answer me this: to this day have any of them ever expressed any remorse? Shown any repentance at all? 'Cause I haven’t heard anything.
As for PV being the poster boy - well, it’s a title he deserves as he seems to be the most arrogant and certainly the most unrepentant of the offenders.
I wish we had something in this country like they do in the UK where people can be banned for life from horse ownership or particpation in any horse activities.
ahem… what is your major problem with snitches. Natalie Holloway’s mother is praying that a snitch spills the beans. Snitches are an important part of the legal food chain.
I HAVE SAT QUIETLY BY FOR THE PAST SIX WEEKS READING THESE POSTINGS, AND FINALLY REACHED THE BOILING POINT. WHEN I SAW THAT INDIVIDUALS ACTUALLY DECIDED TO PRINT T-SHIRTS, BUMPER STICKERS AND SPREAD PETITIONS I COULD STAY SILENT NO LONGER. IT APPEARS THAT THESE SELF-RIGHTEOUS ACTS WREAK OF NEGATIVE ENERGY AND RESENTMENT THAT DOES NO ONE ANY GOOD. WHAT VALLIERE DID WAS WRONG. DO YOU THINK THERE IS ANY POSSIBILITY THAT HE IS UNAWARE OF THAT FACT? THIS IS WHAT THE PROCESS OF RE-INSTATEMENT IS ALL ABOUT !! IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE NAYSAYERS’ TIME AND MONEY WOULD BE FAR BETTER SPENT DOING GOOD FOR THOSE IN NEED RATHER THAN TRYING TO TAKE SOMEONE OUT WHO HAS CLEARLY LEARNED HIS LESSON. PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES AND PEOPLE FORGIVE MISTAKES. IT IS CALLED COMPASSION AND FORGIVENESS. IT FEELS FAR BETTER TAHN GETTING OFF ON SOMEONE ELSES MISFORTUNE.
t is quite an extraordinary piece of hyperbole to refer to a petition drive that advocates keeping a group of people out of an organization as a lynch mob, and to speak generally of mobs and vigilantism. No one wishes these people any physical harm. The petition seeks to prevent them from enjoying the perquisites and privileges of a membership organization, on the basis of past offenses proved (or admitted to) in a court of law. Such an activity seems quite unlike vigilantism to me.
Well put Lori B. I must admit when I first read the accusation it gave me pause. Than I just remembered my most favorite mentor’s advise…“when in doubt do the right thing” Suddenly I realized that people can be unhappy that I signed the petition, etc but the right thing in my book is “no reinstatement”
I can only go by “my book”
I think the petition presented now, with a statement “this many signatures ALREADY” gives them something to weigh on their minds until spring. Let them know that they are being watched.

Relevent to this thread? how?
Accurate? maybe/maybe not…
My name is known to those involved.
I do not think I need to make my e-mail public. If you disagree with me, then the BB are a great place to have a discussion.
And,by the way, the whole notion of the petition flies in the face of a fair judicial procedure. Juries in criminal trials are often sequestered so that they can’t be tainted by public emotions and swayed by lynch mob histrionics. Your actions, despite what you say, amounts to an attempt at “jury tampering”, and last time I heard, that is against the law!
The USEF is not a court of law. It is a “club” with exclusive membership. The #1 requirement for membership is to do what is right by and for the horse. Members in a club have the right to work to make sure undesirables are not welcome - especially if they have gone against the core values that have been established for the “club”. Members of this club should be held to HIGHER standards that the letter of the law. The BEST way to make sure the horse community is NOT perceived to be elitists is to remove the perception of impropriety, and hold the "good 'ole boy network to higher standards. If it involves public pressure to make sure they are not EVER welcomed back with open arms, so be it. They will never offer anything of value to the horse community to overcome the kind of people they really are, and that is someone that cares more about money and status than the horse.
Doctors who have intentionally killed patients do not EVER get to practice medicine again - even if they have served their time in prison.

Thanks for pointing that out, WA. Then he could just say he won’t be applying.
No not yet!
We have in the northeast so far, New Jersey, New York, Long Island, Maine and Pennsylvania. The Montana Horse Shows Assn. has just joined. We have a lot of activity in Florida and may have our own sanctioned circuit there. Check out our contacts list for all the states covered so far.
It’s a very simple association with a National Leadership Council and delegates to each state where we hope and that person will create their own Leadership Council.
Interestingly we have a Delegate in Ireland the Virgin Islands and recently had a request to sanction shows in Bermuda. We’re only a year old so I think we’re doing well. We are an affiliate of USEF and I am on the Competition Management Committee of USEF. I will be at the Convention in Cincinnati.
It is our intention to be supplemental to the Federation and to be the voice for the disenfranchised grassroots. As the “token” Grass roots person on a Committee I am well aware of the limitations in the thinking of USEF.
We just Affiliated with the Equine Journal and will have a monthly news column as well as all our show results published there. Every member gets a complimentary subscription to the Equine Journal.
If you are interested email me privately and I will be glad to discuss it with you. If you are interested we could use a delegate from Connecticut.
Jumphigh83, I believe the mothership was coming for the Heaven’s Gate folks, not the Branch Davidians. It still perplexes me as to why the Heaven’s Gate people all got new sneakers.
Doubt if anyone who drugged a horse could be prosecuted under RICO, unless there were a proven conspiracy across state lines and one could convince a U.S. Attorney to prosecute under RICO.
The reason the horse killers were subject to RICO was because there was conspiracy to defraud insurance companies across several states, which is a FEDERAL felony.
I’M NOT A LAWYER EITHER, but I think that’s more or less right.
OK-I guess its time for the bitter attitudes…
No, I am not married to Paul…
I do, however, ride at AWF.
I can tell you that he has no time to leave his ‘sandbox’ in Wellington, or to actually see ALL the horses that trainers and dealers come walking up the driveway everyday to his farm for him to see.
Go to the showgrounds?? WHY???
Wow… over 1400 signatures!
