Web site is now updated w/ press release & I’m outta here… It’s supposed to rain the next few days so I need to go work some horsies…

Boberry, that is not what nutmeg wrote - that is an inserted moderator comment.

Sounds like this is coming from a woman who wishes she were a MAN!
Wow, mwe, you sure got up to speed on the whole moderator thing fast! I was MUCH slower, took me a couple months to figure out how it all worked!
There is a lot of talk from the new people about how common this problem seems to be. The “old” group of PV supporters convinced me that I should sign the no reinstatement petition. mwe. iota and ub have convinced me that we should go further and make permanent no reinstatement for this crime a rule change. Maybe that will make people think a little more before they commit such a serious crime.
Way to go War Admiral! Right on target. We don;t care if he reapplies he can do that every day if he wants. We do care that someone who CONFESSED and was convicted get back full membership rights so he can judge and compete against the plain folks.
If he wants to teach and people want to do business with someone who was too cheap to sell a horse down and too vain to take a chance he could be better with another trainer. That’s their choice but please don;t insult my intelligence with the conviction that he is one of the best we have.
All I did was take out time for dinner and I can’t catch up with all this tripe.
Either did I… what did Chanda say?
There is no power on this earth that could force me to put my name to a piece of paper touted and signed by people who recently made light of the death of a good friend of mine, for the purpose of embarrassing and hurting his widow.
Was it more than just the one wayward soul who first made the downright mean statement? If so, that’s just plain yucky.
Aside from the fact that one was illegal and brought a heck of a lot more cash, you think the same people that killed horses for insurance in various ways didn’t ship others to slaughter as well? Really?
anthem35 my friend not since it was illegal for him to be at any show. BUT then I don;t go south or to Rhode Island to shows. I would guess he had to be at Syracuse in order to be able to lend the Maclay riders horses on which they could compete.
As to why he would be there! Just because he could! To show how he was above the rules of the USEF. It’s nice you can speak so well FOR him and you know exactly how his mind works. You might be a very good witness for us.
Plus, no matter what anyone thinks, the man will continue to do business as he has for the past 10 years. (sorry Jodes )
X and Sheila, are you on the wrong side of the bed these past few days? Or just looking for a good fight?
Seal Harbor that’s a dangerous concept. Do you have any idea the thing my overactive imagination can conceive?
I think the language of the letter is very good. I will sign, and would suggest that copies be sent to as many horse publications as possible in addition to the USEF. I’d start with HODV, PH, and COTH (of course) but there are many others. There are some PR mavens on this board who could probably come up with a list. The more publicity this attracts, the higher impact the letter will have.
I find it difficult to understand anyone however deeply involved with any of these people can make excuses for their sudden reformation when for all these years they continue to fly in the face of the rules while their actions may be technically legal that aye morally reprehensible because it is still the same sin. Self serving, self agrandizement self importance over morality and compassion.
His riders are NOT breaking any rules whatsoever.
Agreed. Tb or not TB, that was probably the most well thought out, in depth analysis of a highly emotional topic I have read yet.
Thanks for posting it.
Since it was my post that started this I just want to say that nowhere in the post did I say that slaughterhouses were stopped or that slaughter was stopped. I just talked about the bill as it was.

The truth hurts. Horses are a business at this level, USEF is a business organization, and neither morals nor principals have ever reigned supreme in a truly competitive business.
Wow…and you are OK with being part of this, AND supporting it? I am sorry for you.
For an insider’s view, read A Perfect Distance.
WA, I have seen your website, congratulations, both on getting it started, and on your 2000 signature mark. On your website, I would suggest a “contact us” button, and buttons to accept donations and purchase merchandise.
I really do think these transgressions have had an impact on how my clients have been dealt with by their insurance agencies. Since the indictments, we have had to delay burial at times, while an agent was sent to the farm, and even Fairfield Equine’s Dr. Mitchell was put through the ringer [God help THAT agency], when having to euthanize an amateur hunter in the last throes of a twisted intestine colic. Pre Sandman era, a mere phone call to one’s insurer seemed to produce a cheque from whomever within the week.
