The "NO REINSTATEMENT" thread.

Radiotalk that’s a very interesting loop hole isn’t it. Now if tne farm owns the horses then they can compete?

This is like the double speak that I got when they said that Northeast Regional Horse shows was charged and they couldn’t file a Grievance because they weren’t a person. And I couldn;t file a Grievance because I wasn’t charged but I own the Management group. It has no assets I don’t deposit in it.

Boy! talk about slippery lawyers.

I wish we had something in this country like they do in the UK where people can be banned for life from horse ownership or particpation in any horse activities.

The standerbred and TB racing do.

I forgot about this happening. I didn’t know they got to keep showing. Thanks for coming up with the petition.

Chanda, I’m confused. Are you saying that the members of the horse welfare committee are not concerned about the atrocities of the past and won’t do what they can to make sure they won’t happen in the future? Because that will be the message sent to the horse world if the horse killers are allowed back into the USEF.

I am not saying anything about members of the horse welfare committee. If you want the opinions of any other members you will have to ask them. I said I, personally, am concerned with current issues. This is not one.

Chanda, backing someone found quilty of insurance fraud in the death of a horse, is hard to understand when that person is seated on the Horse Welfare Committee of the USHJA.

The only thing I have backed in this thread is Paul’s right to apply for reinstatement. That is not a horse welfare issue.

I agree.

You also said:

I AM saying the qualifications for consideration for reeinstatement have been met. The man deserves a fair chance.

But isn’t the giving of the “fair chance” also a personal decision?

It is important to point out the importance of the word consideration for reinstatement. Part of that consideration is happening here. Albeit, unofficially. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Well, depends how you look at it.

The ultimate decision is up to the governing body.
In all fairness, they have to consider everything.
your opinion, my opinion. and the facts.
So yes, I can understand your actions, but fair is fair, and he had made every attempt to play by the rules.

Please forward the petition

I sent it to Ethel Walker this morning. What a crazy thing for a school to do…placing an ad in a worldwide publication that thanks a horse killer!!! YIKES!! Definitely a value system I would want young ladies to emulate. Ok class, today we are going to learn how to go to jail, or even better how to reduce your sentence.

I was wondering the same thing, Midge.

Don’t think there is a pin that is big enough to deflate that ego.

With all due respect, Chanda, you were what, about 10 yrs old at the time?
I have trouble believing that a ten yr. old could remember accurately anything that was going on in the adult world so many years later.
And I don’t know ANY ten yr. olds that would be anything less than horrified to learn that someone with so much influence could stoop to such low actions. They certainly wouldn’t be as forgiving as you would seem to have been at that age. Things are a little more black and white to an ordinary ten yr. old.

My memory is quite accurate; the conversation happened in my driveway. Paul lived across the street at the time.
I doubt anything was as black and white as you want to make it for any child at the time who grew up in the industry and knew everyone involved personally.

Oxer, the practice of overcharging is not uncommon in the circles PV deals in. How else did he get contacts for the Sandman? Does he ever talk about it? Did he tell you 15 years ago, “Hey I’m under federal investigation for insurance fraud”. Because it was the same time you met him?

Like any legal situation it can be a matter of interpretation. For example as RNB said regarding the Judge and DA in her Virginia case. If these two culprits have been banned during their parole to be in the horse business will USEF support that and ban them from shows and membership?

If we understood the legal status of the USEF why are they not available to assist with advice in cases as above.

anthem, I think that what was meant by “personal” was the idea of discussing PV only, when he is one among many convicted-- versus “personal” as bad feeling between two posters.

I for one am not “anti-PV” but rather anti-reinstatement for all those convicted. These two things are very different!

I also think 3000 to 1 is not quite factual–I doubt everyone who signed the petition posts on this thread and there have been more than a few personal supporters of PV. I notice they are silent when asked if they support reinstatement for the other convicted persons.

So, to me, it appears that PV’s supporters view this as a “personal attack” when for many it is something entirely other.

I have refrained from commenting about a number of your assumptions about people posting here but I think the distinction above is quite important.

Okay, I am trying to ask a legitimate question- must you always be so difficult? the only way I can answer my own question is if I am talking about myself-which I am not. I asked in the orignal post what would have happened if PV had not insured the horse. I was wondering if there would have been an alternative ending?

and am I asking a legitimate question? is that being difficult? Clearly… I’m not coming up with a good answer… so help me out. Stop assuming that i’m trying to trap you. This issue has no right answer…no happy ending.

Yes, Boston - his quote sure didn’t sound like he felt any remorse to me either.

I can’t believe there are this many people with too much time on their hands…I guess all of you are for lifetime banishment of anyone who breaks “any” rule? Or just the rule against animal abuse? Makes me wonder how many of you out of the other side of your mouth are for women being able to abort their babies–makes you wonder. I could never understand someone who thinks an animal life is more valuable than a human life…oh that’s right, it is about a woman’s right to choose…Anyway, I can see that none of you want to hear whether any of these people are remorseful, or have made any kind of reparations to make up for their mistakes…None of them had a lifetime suspension, all were for a term certain–with a right to petition for reinstatement. And one has already been reinstated…so maybe you guys are just for selective reinstatement on the grounds that if you don’t like PV you won’t reinstatement him, but someone else, well it’s o.k.

Welcome aboard I suspect we have accumulated some very impaired a$$ kissers tonight.

HUH?

Sherry that is the best idea that I have heard to date! I second.

The trolls are just plain banned, sometimes. If they become enough of a pain in the ass. (And yes, you’re getting there, Sheila.)

But if some of you would simply GROW BRAINS and put a sock in it, Sheila wouldn’t be much of a problem…

I’m not on here 24/7. And it really pisses me off when I’ve been gone at the barn for 3 hours and come home to this kind of crap. Just because Sheila is acting like an idiot doesn’t mean the rest of you have to stoop to her level. Take a little responsibility for your own playground, please.

Well, I can tell you that to me anyone who disposes of a horse for money can’t be trusted. And, if this sport is going that route then it will indeed be a very small power base.

Will the elite folks stay when it all shrinks down so there are so few to beat?

Can someone please post a link?
