I would like to add that someone named on the “horse welfare” committee of USHJA should have a very difficult time backing someone who was found guilty of killing a horse with the intent of collecting an insurance premium.
I’m with Harry about keeping it open as long as interest remains. I think most of the teeth gnashing is over, although every once in a while a new person re-starts the fracas! It seems though that even with all 142 pages, I still learn new elements of the issue and I am grateful for the information.
Frankly my particular leaning is towards rules and regulations and governance not individuals so I don’t have that information. However, since you asked I will try to find out. I am certain those who personally know the personalities involved will be chirping in since you raise a very valid point and it is information we will need later if not now.
Thank you for the offer to send the letter. I deeply appreciate all the help we can get. There is a possible victory with numbers of people. I do think in spite of a general lack of respect for the members we can clean house and sort out the facts to correct a situation which is damaging to the whole industry.
The idea of bending the rules and “don’t ask” really has to end. So again thank you and I will try to help get that information.
Hopefully he is the pooper scooper keeping the pasture clean where our loving horses wait for our arrival. There are a lot of great horsemen there to make sure the horses and ponies and dogs are safe.
PV is not the target and from the sounds of it his supporters agree that no one else should be Re-Instated. These other ones are the evil ones who convinced him to do what he did. If it was not for his courage to wear the wire the others might have all skated free.
And, his supporters think we are the tools of those he committed to exile. We have mental syndromes of Narcisim, delusions of grandeur, messianic syndromes and all sorts of other evil maladies of the human creature. But PV is the hero of the real war.
All of which is irrelevant and as said many times by Erin the Facts Please! The fact is that heinous deeds were done. Apparently they were quite socially acceptable in their time. But, they are not socially acceptable to us in this time and place.
The issue is how and what we do to make ourselves heard by a Federation which is NEW and was not there then. There doesn’t seem to be any moral leadership. When we studied history we wondered how the “society” could look the other way during times when charismatic leaders used their talent to lead them down a bad trail.
So, our question to ourselves is do we whine and complain and weep over past glory days or do we find a way to make those few who do have a vote represent our dreams for a level playing field where horses are respected?
While the supporters of PV say well he wasn’t the worst! While the supporters of PV say everyone was doing worse!
What exactly is it that we say? Do we have a Manifesto that spells out what we believe? What are the definitions and conditions beyond which we have no tolerance?
Will we all be interviewed one day and say well we tried we voiced our opposition but they went ahead and they corrupted the most beautiful relationship ever had on earth between men and their horses for a $2.00 piece of rayon.
Very well said, RaceTB. With the minor exception that I still don’t want him anywhere near MY horse. But that’s a personal decision.
I agree, I like that language too.
I’m kinda burned out at the moment - anyone else want to pull it all together, or can I go on vacation until tomorrow & tweak it some more in the a.m.??
Well said Erin. The man is indeed eligible to apply to be reinstated. I would wonder why, at the time of the suspension, more were not concerned enought to petition for a life suspension at that time, and who determined his to be the ten year variety.

Midge, It’s Perfect Pony, Pocket Pony wouldn’t want to be confused for me, she’s a much better communicator than I I actually thought of changing my username at one point since we often get confused, but then I would be one of those people… can’t win!
Hi
Im pretty new at posting here, mostly just a lurker.
What Id like to know is just good reason Why this PV character should be reinstated.
Because some are in awe of his training abilties???
If so then all the more reason not to let him in. Sorry Anthem, you seem like a reasonable person, but this is NOT good enough.
Belonging to an organization is not a right, like eating, breathing, working. It is a privilege.
If the guy has an ounce of class at all he will not ever ask to be reinstated.
The more I hear about PVs brilliance as a trainer the bigger a brute I think.
Well Harry I’m just trying to figure out how my undefeatable WWII generation spawned a bunch of wimps. We really believe in the expression in “Public Service”. I admire your talent and sense of humor.
I’ve often thought that today they have it all backwards. Our kids grew up as gentle people and they were raised on games with cops and robbers, cowboys and indians and all those not politically correct things that to day have spawned a generation of kids with no respect for any authority.
Thank God! for the exceptions in every generation.
sarabeck you are just a touch obvious On Friday you request documented information which is not available as public record. Obviously, none of us is privvy to Mr. Valiere’s private business nor do we want to be.
You already have the names of three riders who compete to his credits. You have the name of the trainer he employees which has been verified without a name by his many friends. Now we have a name. He has not kept the rules because he has horses he owns being ridden and competed. I have told you at what shows.
Now, I am certain that between us the information is available and by next week you will have the information for your letter if you still choose to send it. It certainly would appear he is still professionally using Acres Wild as his farm.
Taking the plunge to point out that it is possible to be a former friend, colleague, student, client etc. of PV and/or to believe he is genuinely and deeply remorseful–and also believe that he should not be re-instated, even though he was given the option to apply to be.
PV would not be deprived of a livelihood, only denied membership.
I personally believe re-instatement is inappropriate for all involved. If this situation doesn’t warrant lifetime banning, it is difficult to imagine what would. Sanctions need teeth or they aren’t sanctions.
Attention: SNOWBIRD
I am getting PT’s for the bracelets.
SNL is out of them, as am I.
Do you know when you will have more?
OK, here is a question for all of you folks that would like PV to be reinstated or perhaps would like no one to speak out against PV:
Do you not want to sign the petition/speak out against his actions because you feel that doing so would be disloyal to a friend/colleague? Or do you really believe in your heart that people who kill horses should be allowed full membership rights and privileges in the United States Equestrian Federation (“USEF”)?
Where did the “pro” PV folks go??? No answer from them or Ethel Walker…Oh well.

So did anyone look up Acres Wild Farm? Well it is active, and Paul Valliere is listed with the USEF as owner. No bold red thru the farm name what so ever. So, can anyone tell me, does this mean the farm is not suspended?
Does it say its in RI? The farm in Slatersville is something else now.
Yippee…gotta love technology.

Problems with the horse…
Screw in the leg where it had been fractured,(8 inch scar I should have noticed but didn’t), bench knee, 12 large melanomas on the sheath, kidney problems–couldn’t keep on weight even though he had been there 8 months. Vet said he might last at 3’6, but I really need a low a/o horse with potential to move up. He was a VERY nice horse, but I felt cheated…I was never really allowed to be alone with the horse to look him over properly. When you try horses at their place, you just stand in the arena while the groom brings up the horse with your saddle on.
A horse with pins should never be presented for sale let alone for $$. It’s b/c of people like this we are going to end up like real estate sales, brokers, realators, background checks. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
I remember asking the woman who was my trainer at the time; ‘what if I’m in the ring, jumping 4’3, and that pinned leg comes undone?’ The bigger deal was the melanomas…looks like the horse was in really bad shape overall, and I think about him often, wondering where he is right now, because he was such a nice animal–he just ended up in the wrong hands. If they had been upfront and honest about him, I probably would have bought him for a MUCH reduced price and used him as a pleasure/trail horse. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
What were they asking $xx,xxx or $xxx, xxx? To save myself trouble, I take a new horse to a referral vet. So if anything comes down, it stands in court. I also sell my horses with an independent referral vet, x-rays included, get your own vet and poke away. No horse is perfect, but ANYBODY would say no to a fracture and pins. At 4’3" it’s a _ell no. I equate it to selling ocean front property in Wyoming. Hands down that should be reason alone to strip a professional license from a professional, too bad we do not have it.
I have a couple of question, some of which may have been answered already, so bear with me. Also, I’m ignorant of USEF Rules on this matter, so forgive any goofy statements on my part.
-
If PV is currently in violation of the Rules, can any USEF member lodge a complaint? Has this been done?
-
Is there a mechanisim to monitor who is applying for reinstatement? (Does USEF post this on their website?)
-
Once someone does apply for reinstatement, can any USEF member submit comment? What is the comment period?

We don’t say he can’t own a horse, ride a horse or sell a horse just he cannot be a Federation Member in Good Standings with the opportunities that offers.
But the option does exist to return to the industry and engage in banking activities, as well as be licensed by the NYSE and the SEC.
and my I PLEASE have another Cab i net to get through these pages
