The "NO REINSTATEMENT" thread.

It’s too easy if Snowy is the only one who will play. I’m retiring.

Varsity didn’t the teacher tell you not to remove them because if you did they wouldn;t work?

No way to prove they are not bogus signatures. You folks must be from Chicago, where dead folks vote!

ahhh, but as the petition is also to be sent to the USOC then all signatures from US citizens would be relevant – -- and if sent to FEI then international…

Snowbird, we have had several people come on this forum and avow to the excellent care their horse’s get under PV’s care, that he even mucks stalls and also that they are being shown at WEF. It is no secret. The USEF is aware of this, too. They have done nothing about it for ten years, and unfortunately their stance will be to look the other way until it comes time for his petition, when they will “forgive”.

You got it ise@ssl in New Jersey you can hardly do any business without meeting the “boys”. I think it was Jersey City that voted not to delete those who had died from the voter poll records and they swung the election for Corzine.

horserider133

if you were that concerned about oxer being ripped off, maybe you could have called her 2 years ago when the deal was actually going through.

also, there’s a small thing called COMISSION on the A Circuit. To sign up on COTH to PUBLICLY annouce these things is absolutely classless.

Oxer walks, talks, and breathes nothing but pure class. This thread is really making me sick.

Also, on this petition I would love for each person to mention if they personally know each “horse killer” or not. Would be interesting!

Here’s some drafty language of a letter or e-mail you can send folks to encourage them to sign the petition. Feel free to edit it however you want.

In 1996, the American Horse Shows Association (“AHSA”), predecessor in
interest to the United States Equestrian Federation (“USEF”), the national governing body for equestrian sport, suspended nine (9) of its members for varying lengths of time as a result of said members’ conviction on various counts of fraud and conspiracy. Most, if not all of those suspended, had either killed horses, caused horses to be killed, or conspired with others for horses to be killed in attempts to defraud insurance companies. These co-conspirators have become colloquially known in the equestrian sports field as “the horse-killers”.

The complete list of USEF “horse-killers”, together with the terms of
their respective suspensions, can be found in a report of the meeting
minutes for the meeting at which action was taken to suspend them,
contained <a href=“http://www.ienn.com/break/mayjune97/indict.htm”>here</a>.

The USEF “horse killer” who received the shortest suspension term was Mr. Paul Valliere, now resident in Wellington, Florida and Plainville, Massachusetts. Mr. Valliere received an indefinite suspension, but becomes
eligible to apply for reinstatement of full USEF membership privileges
in April of 2006.

In anticipation of Mr. Valliere’s eligibility for reinstatement, a
petition has been drawn up opposing his reinstatement to full USEF
membership. You may view and sign the petition here:

http://www.petitiononline.com/valliere/petition.html

We are an ad hoc group of horse owners, trainers, admirers and competitors, most of whom are members of USEF or one of its affiliate organizations. We met on <a href=“http://www.chronicleforums.com”>an online forum</a>
and informally agreed to work together to prevent reinstatement of any
of the “horse killers” to full membership privileges in the U.S. Equestrian Federation.

We do not believe any of these so-called “horse killers” is entitled to
reinstatement of USEF membership privileges. We fully intend to proceed
in like manner against each “horse killer” in turn as they respectively
become eligible to apply for reinstatement.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE PETITION:

We encourage you to sign this petition and circulate it in any way you see fit. Send a link to it as an e-mail, print it out and obtain signatures, or simply e-mail links to the press, or people involved in the equestrian industry.

PLEASE NOTE, however: it is imperative that the language of the petition not be altered in any way whatsoever. Any signatures on copies of the petition where the language has been changed could be rendered invalid.

Please encourage your signers to provide their full information, including e-mail address and USEF Membership Identification Number, if any. If your signers are members of other horse-related organizations, that is important information to present to USEF, too. We promise your information will not be transmitted or sold to any third parties other than the appropriate committees of the USEF, the USOC and the FEI.

Thank you so much for your support.

Is PV bending the rules?

Seems to me there’s not much consensus about what one must do to show (s)he’s been “rehabilitated.” In the Star-Ledger article, PV and several others indicate that he’s made a positive contribution to the horse community since his suspension from active showing – as though that’s evidence that he’s abided by the rules, not broken them (in spirit if not by letter). And the USEF hearing committee liaison seems to agree:

Lori Nelson, the USEF’s hearing committee liaison, said “there are substantial requirements for reinstatement.” Those who apply “must feel remorse and show total rehabilitation and a contribution to the horse community before the hearing.” She said the committee also would look at letters from people who want to weigh in on the matter.

I’m confused. Is he supposed to have nothing to do with horses during his suspension, or is he supposed to make a contribution to the horse community? If reinstatement deponds upon some “contribution,” his involvement with horses for the past 10 years seems a bit less shady, no?

(I’m against reinstatement, BTW, just a little confused by this issue.)

Edited to add, the Palm Beach Post recently ran a short and well-balanced front page story about the petition AND continues to run interesting articles about WEF and the NHS.

It would be nice if they would fact check their stories before they run them…how I can trust the validity of a story when it referred to War Admiral as a amateur show jumper rider?

It has everything to do with what is BEST for the horse industry.
We owe it to future generations of horse enthusiasts…

Couldn’t have said it better grey mare!

big dawg, if you want to argue about slaughter and call people terrorists, go start your own thread.

Stay on topic. Stay civil. Is that REALLY that difficult for you people?

Hey, I just responded to the post about the horse slaughter bill passed by Congress… Keep up with the topic or go to another thread that is a bit simpler for you…

You’re good…

PS try the hunting forum, they are an animal rights terrorists magnet. Although, I do not find the discussions to be as “spirited” </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

the hunter crowd is so booorrringggg

Snowbird - watch yourself - this gal has actually taken a lesson from PV - one lesson - she knows him and if you read the other thread - she knows he TOOK THE FALL FOR THE TEAM!

One lesson and she knows - he’s the best Eq trainer there is - even with binoculars and cell phones - he be da best!

When I went to interview, as a high school junior, they hadn’t even finished construction.

So I really was “buying into” a concept rather than reality. But it all worked out.

While I won’t deny a certain amount of “chemical enhancement”, it wasn’t the dominant feature of my Hampshire experience. But it certainly was entertaining to watch everyone else at the Halloween party.

I thnk that by 78, most of the students I knew had left, but I am sure we shared some professors. What was your Div II? Mine was the completely atypical “traditional mathematics concentration”.

The first semester I kept my horse at the Mt Holyoke stable (when it was on the far northern edge of campus), but I discovered I only had enough time for 2 of
school
riding
working to pay the board.
So Rocket went home- (the deal was that my parents would support a horse at home, but if we wanted to baord somewhere else we had to pay the board ourselves.)

I had a couple of close friends who were at Mt Holyoke, so I spent a fair amount of time there, as well as taking one class (Russian) there.

I predict that if reinstatement is not granted there will be a lawsuit against USEF

dont worry - I will never spel your name wrong.

Perhaps not Uberrashung, however, from my point of view, she is certainly going to the defense of Mr. Valliere. I do not think I have ever posted irrationally, and although I do not have a horse in my barn that can hold a candle to any of hers, nor do I have the recognition that she enjoys, I do feel that someone here must indeed come to the defense of horses who have been abused.

What horses people here have or don’t have compared to Chanda really is not an issue, nor is whether or not one is “known” (the “little people” thing is getting a bit cliche, guys).

Oh! Good Lord there are not enough colors for all the causes to have separate color. Ours is red for the blood spilled by innocent horses. It says No Reinstatement in white letters. I’m certain white is also controversial.

We discussed it and we have them. I don’t think that Aids Awareness is going to suffer an identity crisis by sharing the color red with our fallen horses. The red in our flag is for the blood spilled to protect freedom.

For every good cause there are always a thousand reasons to stay inactive if that’s what you want.

How about sienna?

FYI 347,911 people were members of AQHA on New Year’s Eve ”" 2003.

The September issue of America’s Horse magazine- the AQHA’s offical magazine was was mailed to nearly 600,000 horse-owning households. Nearly 14,000 people joined AQHA from that one issue.

The AQHA has recognized events in association with the USEF.
