Well done Ć°Åøā€™ā„¢
Nice easy win.

Always check The Blood Horse. They have most races of merit on video not too long after the race.

I loved seeing Tiz the Law win as well. Enjoyed most of the card (except when pre-empted here in FL to listen to the Guv speak. And it wasnā€™t short. :()

But the win more than made up for it. You know Barclay Tagg does the right thing by his horses.
And New York State sure needs the boost.
Eerie without the crowds.
But doubt it mattered to the horses.
Tiz the Law is beautiful.

Terrible, and hadnā€™t heard of it at all until today.

On Roku YouTube TV is replaying it.

Cafe Pharoah was very impressive in the Unicorn Stakes in Japan. I would love to see a Pharoah colt in the Derby.

Hereā€™s that race. Heā€™s #16.

Gamine is being pointed toward the Kentucky Oaks but if she continues to race like she did yesterday, would sure like to see her against the boys at some point.

Thereā€™s an Alaska Derby?

I suspect she meant AR although AK is a reasonable guesstimate for Arkansas

Oh, Iā€™m sure she meant Arkansas. I just had to comment because it is a pet peeve of mine when the two get mixed up. I hope it didnā€™t come off as mean-spirited; I meant it more as a gentle ribbing.

IF Tiz the Law goes on and wins the other two races, KY Derby and Preakness, just how would they handle it? Technically he would be a Triple Crown winner, but the length between races and the Belmont distance change definitely puts all three into a different category. And, of course, the timing to later in the season may self-eliminate some of the competition. A mere asterisk beside the name would seem to merit a bit more explanation.

Anyone seen the ratings? Iā€™m hoping that the Belmont at least managed to beat out ESPNā€™s coverage of yet another cornhole tournament.

I wonder if Gamine would look as impressive if she was racing against a better field. Her stretch run though, reminded me of Pharaoh.

What happened to Charlatan? I heard he had an injury but did not recall reading the details. I know he has a pending Lidocaine issue. Which kind of taints Gamine for me.

Regardless of whether or not it ended up being contamination in the Justify/Baffert issue, if youā€™re this guy on the CHRB you have to recuse yourself. Good lord.

California racing officials investigated the failed test for four months, allowing Justify to keep competing long enough to win not only the Derby, but also the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. In August, after Justifyā€™s breeding rights had been sold for $60 million, the California Horse Racing Board ā€” whose chairman at the time, Chuck Winner, had employed Baffert to train his horses ā€” disposed of the inquiry altogether during a rare closed-door session.

@snaffle1987 I remember the NBC coverage said what Charlatanā€™s injury wasā€¦I THINK it was ankle chips if I remember correctly. But donā€™t quote me. What I did find interesting was that the analysts that NBC has on (Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss) both neglected to point out that Charlatan was pulled after the positive drug test. To me, that is something that should be noted, since lidocaine could have had a masking impact on something like chips. Then again, they stated that the amount positive was very very low, so maybe the masking effect would not have been enough to take the horse from off to sound for the AR derby.

How much better company would she need? She smoked the race record by 1 1/2 seconds when often when a race/track record is broken itā€™s by fifthā€™s?

I would agree, however, that I would be suspect of anything in Baffertā€™s barn. However, I caught the tail end (so missed much of the actual interview) of an interview with Baffert during the Belmont Stakes coverage on NBC on Saturday. Sounded like Baffert is saying inadvertent contamination (Charlatan and the other horse in Arkansas) but he canā€™t talk about it until the issue is resolved.

Not so sure I believe the inadvertent contamination route of rebuttal. Would you suspect anything else from a BNT who is in the limelight for the same positive on 2 separate horses on a big-day race card. This is not me being a simple conspiracy theorist. the industry has made its own bed regarding drugs. I trust no one.
