I’m actually following European racing at least as closely as I am the Triple Crown if not moreso. There’s nothing prettier than a full field of Thoroughbreds running on those historic tracks. The silks and the horses’ coats against the expanse of green turf, to me, is a breathtakingly beautiful image.
How?
Mostly via the Racing Post website, as well as Sporting Life’s. The latter is aimed more at gamblers but it has the replays available for free.
The downside of the Racing Post is that a LOT of articles are only for paying subscribers. But it does have plenty of free material as well. Most of the stakes are aired live on TVG; for those who don’t have it the replays are available on Sporting Life.

Thank you.
I wonder why the Belmont is being run at Saratoga instead of Aqueduct?
Belmont Park is undergoing major renovation. That’s why Ruffian’s body was moved from the infield to a new grave at Claiborne.
Like I said, why Saratoga and not Aqueduct?
Saratoga would be more scenic for sure.
Did you edit while I was responding or have I lost my mind? I swear I didn’t notice the mention of Aqueduct - but I am on 4 hours of sleep so it might be me.
I didn’t edit at all.
Hope you’re getting more sleep tonight!
Well, gee. I was thinking Fluffy Socks was the one with the white socks.
But well done, good girl! I wish she’d won the Preakness; I’d love the name Fluffy Socks to go down in history.
“All 8 runners in the Preakness today can trace their lines back to Northern Dancer.”
For me that’s no different from tracing Mystic Dan and Dapper Dan and Dan Patch back to a common TB ancestor. And I may do it later on this weekend for fun.
A little different.
Northern Dancer was foaled in 1961
Dab Patch was foaled in 1896.
The Derby winner just arrived at Pimlico in an ordinary, everyday horse trailer pulled by an ordinary, everyday pickup truck! How cool is that! I’d have expected the modern equivalent of a private railroad car.
How is that different?
Many more generations/
Did anyone see what was being done with the stick horses in the infield? I just missed it.
OK. I saw Frankie Detori was advertising ‘Dude Wipes’ and I suspected what they are. Just saw the ad and I did guffaw loudly
It was like a mock race between two people
Happy for seize the grey but man I really wanted a chance for a triple crown. Best thing all came home safe!
