Triple Crown races 2024 - KY Derby (& Oaks) - Who's following?

Anyone notice the chesnut being shown as mystik dan walking back? I thought he was a bay?

Cool. Thank you.

You’re right. He is a bay. So that #5 handler got hold of the wrong horse?

I tried to go to the My Racehorse website, got an error message. I think the fans crashed the site!

They said earlier on the broadcast this was Seize the Grey’s 4th start in 8 weeks…seems like an awful lot but he sure looked good today. Happy for his jock Jamie Torres, you can tell how much he appreciates the ride and his horse.

Seize the Grey!!!
Love his name, he’s gorgeous, he ran like a champ, love how his jockey pointed at him after crossing the wire and hugged him several times, and happy for D. Wayne Lukas.

No Triple Crown, but that’s okay. It is a huge accomplishment and shouldn’t be achieved too often, IMO. Let Pharoah and Justify enjoy their reign a bit longer.

Yeah. I was confused by that too. It definitely wasn’t Mystic Dan. Weird.

Yeah, well, NBC. 'Nuff said. They also said the “black-eyed susans” came from a local grocery store.
But they aren’t black-eyed susans.
Sigh.

Seeing him hug the horse was so sweet

OK, I haven’t posted much about the Preakness, as I just don’t follow like I used to, but…I never bet on the races. As in I can’t pick a winner in a two horse race. However, I was kinda pulling for Seize the Grey. Imagine my suprise when he won! I mean I wanted Mystik Dan to win, but I was pleased with STG.

That was a good race! Sad for Mystik Dan but Seize the Gray quite literally seized the front and ran a great race.

I called the exacta and trifecta, and my partner bet Mystik Dan to place, so we came out handsomely today and are gonna treat ourselves to a nice dinner while on vacation.

Have fun doing it. I’ve traced my QHs pedigree back to the 1800s or farther for shits and giggles. To be honest though, even STB people don’t care if their horse goes back to Dan Patch. They’re more concerned with the last couple of generations since and what the sire and dam are producing and what the horse is doing.

I saw the same bit about the making of the winner’s blanket in the grocery store. They DID say, as part of the feature, that the flowers were NOT black-eyed susans, as it was too soon for them to bloom.

Oh good. I only heard the NBC host calling them black-eyed susans. Glad the feature people got it right! :+1:

OMg. I was screaming my fool head off. When he got away with the relatively easy first 1/2, I knew we had it.
STG does NOT like to get passed.
As a shareholder of Authentic also, this is just so much sweeter.
It’s been an absolute blast to be able to be a part of it & follow him from the very beginning.
He showed us a bit of what was possible early on, but both Ciaran & The Coach said he’d get better as he matures. Boy howdy were they right.
So dang happy for Jaime as well!

Congratulations to you! I went to the Saratoga experience last summer and we had a chance to see him backside. What a stunning animal he is.

The highs & the lows.
Win with one & the other comes out with a (repairable) injury.

I think it may have been the 5 horse (chestnut gelding) in the upcoming 14th race… walking in instead of walking out.

I was hoping there would be no injuries
Glad it’s fixable
