Will the owners of mares (bred to the stallion that they thought was a “Polish warmblood” with a fantasy pedigree) have any way of knowing that they’ve actually bred to a draft cross?
Will they find out, only when they try to register their foals or if they frequent COTH forums? :eek:

I’ve read this whole thread with some interest–Like Heinz 57, I’ve seen TDE’s ads on Dreamhorse over the last year, I even looked at one sale horse’s video on Youtube–and was appalled at the conditions of her “farm”, and the breeding on her horses did nothing for me (and they way they moved).
I don’t know who would travel to Kooskia, Idaho to look at/buy a horse. Kind of in the middle of nowhere. I don’t think any “big time” sporthorse owners are going to pop up out of the woodwork to post on here that they bought one. Truly, Kooskia is east of the center of nothing. But, people will travel quality horses…these clearly aren’t quality anything.
That’s why I asked about “authorities”. If it doesn’t already exist, there should be some kiind of registry for complaints that people can check with. Otherwise people can just do it again. One summer when I was in college I briefly worked this horse trainer that you couldn’t trust as far as you could throw. In the couple of weeks i was there i saw him blatantly misrepresent horses that he’d picked up somewhere for a couple hundred dollars as having pedigrees that they didnt and he would invent show records. I asked him once about what he was doing, and he smiled and told me, “if you can get away with it, alls fair in love and war and horse trading”. (Of course it was pre-Internet and COTH) One morning I reported to work, and the barn was empty and he was nowhere to be found. About 15 years later I was in a totally different state in a different region of the country and I heard about a guy with the same M.O. I went over to the farm and it was the same guy, with a slightly different name, and he was up to his old tricks. Who knows if he’s still around. In my experience with horses, most people are trying to do the right thing, and of those who aren’t (llike TDE), it’s out of ignorance rather than outright dishonesty. For those people like my former boss, however, there needs to be a way of permanently keeping them from ripping more people off. Of course forums are good, but thet can be a bit dangerous, as anyone can make allegations, and it can easily become a witch hunt.

COTH does seem to keep a check on the "witch hunts’. 
Look up “horse trader” in the thesarus and this is what you find:
bastard, bluffer, charlatan, cheat, counterfeit, crook, deceiver, double-dealer, fake, forger, four-flusher, hoaxer, horse trader , impostor, mechanic, mountebank, phony, play actor, pretender, quack, racketeer, sham*, shark, swindler
Just saying, the horse business has always had it’s share of bad apples!

You have to admit, the horse’s personality looks a little bit spicy, not so ammie friendly is my guess … maybe with more training. He’s very cool looking though. Where does the flat croup and Araby tail carriage come from?

Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.
Services – Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.
Products – While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.
Event Announcements – Members may post one notification of an upcoming event that may be of interest to fellow members, if the original poster does not benefit financially from the event. Such threads may not be “bumped” excessively. Premium members may post their own notices in the Event Announcements forum.

Individuals may not advertise or make announcements for horses in need of rescue, placement or adoption unless the horse is available through a recognized rescue or placement agency or government-run entity or the thread fits the criteria for and is located in the Giveaways forum.
Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo.
Respect and help the moderators.
As members are often passionate about their beliefs and intentions can easily be misinterpreted in this type of environment, try to explore or resolve the inevitable disagreements that arise in the course of threads calmly and rationally.

i think folks forget that for the average horse person a “warmblood” is when you cross a draft with something else…
I am not defending anyone on this thread - but i think you folks are once again, going overboard… people change the names of horses ALL THE TIME.
and anyone with any kind of educated sense would know that stallion in question is NO european WB.
and as for the little barb that it is impossible for a drafty to do 4th level … i suggest you do some research 
mbm, did you read the whole thread? It’s not about her just changing a name. She changed his name, his breed, falsefied his registration, stole another stallions pedigree, and sold at least one mare bred to this stallion with these false credentials.
